This music helped me during difficult ass times on my final deployment to Afghanistan. It calmed me down after bad days. Then I returned home and met a girl. A couple of years later I asked her to be mine. Celebrated our 4th anniversary and have a beautiful boy who seems to dig DG. Jumping Jesus, holy cow!

This song never gets old...My husband sent me these lyrics with a flower arrangement a few weeks after we met six years ago. He passed away last Fall. This song makes me feel so close to him. Have tickets to see David Gray in Seattle this June. It will be the first time seeing him without my husband, although I know he will be close by. Cannot wait.

first time I ever heard him I was in a discount store buying a small clock: they had a tape loop running, and one of his songs started playing. i was totally stunned by it. Asked the clerk "who IS that..." she said, that's David Gray...next time i was in a music store (oh how times have changed) I bought this CD and four more others of his. I've never regretted it. What always impressed me was the way he started pieces with one or two notes, a single instrument, and gradually piled on more layers until at the end what started as a thoughtful intro ended as the Halleluhah Chorus with a full orchestra. He never gets old.

David went out with me for a month or so. 39 years ago when Dave and I were 16 , I have only just realised who he is now. Its a lot to come to terms with ! He did not talk much. He seemed "different". I made him smile. The way he looked at me will never leave me. He was a lovely person. I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. I am watching this to try to bring it all together. The Dave I knew in 1985, the White Ladder David Gray, and the legend he has become. He did not talk much. I did not have much of a voice either, when I was 16. 1985- I was sad when I realised he was not coming to see me any more. 2024- I am heartbroken.

This is what Music should be! Lyrics that take your mind away or towards whatever emotion/memory your feeling needs to be explored! For me a man of 28 who lost his father when I was 11 and mother to cancer 2 days before my 21st... they both used this in there times of happiness and when feeling sad! I use it in the same manor to help with certain memories and emotions! David Gray will be in my life!

Just recently I heard this song (1/2020) It immediately took me back to the first time saw/met my now wife. That was 27 years ago. Amazing how music and transport you back in time.
