Bought the phone to play with so might as well do a comparison to the FLIR which is almost twice the price.

I should have shown that as a comparison as well. The InfiRay can 'see' much further outdoors than the FLIR.

@@DavidMcLuckie That´s interesting. How do they work if you look at house from outside to find bad insulation in the walls and on the roof. They should at least sense heat a good 10-15 meters away if that´s gonna work. Do they manage that?

Here in Bristol UK in 2023, a one-time thermal imaging survey for your home costs £135+ (finding draughts, etc). Given the quality of the Doogee shown in your comparison, getting a sensor + a rugged phone (that runs Android 12 and all the associated goodies) for just over twice that seems like a no-brainer :) Thanks for helping me decide to get one. Just wish they made the battery removeable.

I have had a DooGee rugged phone for last 12 months and while it's not fast it is fine. On the DooGee the MIX function seemed to have a slider at the top to mix images. Great review, I wonder how they both perform in cold temps?

Can you please make a small review about the capabilities of the Infiray application on this Phone? Like if it allows you to take radiometric images, change color palette and take measurements after capturing the image? Do the thermal videos contain audio? Can the level/span be adjusted manually for the thermal camera? etc

I got the first version of the flir one, the battery is a big issue cause after few years now it's nearly dead so only few minutes of use left, and on top of that they made an update that degrade the specs so now pictures are shitty, just to push you to buy the new ones... Very deceiving coming from Flir cause I was quite satisfied at the beginning, but not anymore especially considering the price of it. About the Doogee phones, I first got the S60 that is good but the buttons were too easy to push so I have got so many times the camera shooting by itself, then I bought the S96pro and they fixed that big issue, perfect really happy of this one, I was just sad of not having the thermal camera in it but... They finally did it with the S98pro who is basically the S96pro with the thermal imaging added. And I really want it, exactly what I've been dreaming of 👍👍👍

I am the lookout for a new phone. I got a Ulefone a couple of years ago (rugged ip68 thing) wanted wireless charging and water proof on the bike as sat nav. Works well (they do a thermal version) I did try the water prof ability on holiday and did some underwater videos on the sea. No issues other than they must use a mylar type speaker, audio was a little distorted until it had dried but it did work. My biggest problem with any mobile phone regardless of IP rating is iron filing in the work shop. always find then stuck to the body of phones/speakers.

When you ordered the phone on ali express, did you have to pay customs charges? The phone on amazon costs 450 but on ali express its 270. Please let me know as I will go for the cheaper option of ali express if there are no import costs. Thank you David
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie Жыл бұрын
To be honest it's a gamble. I didn't pay any customs charges, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't. It'll still be cheaper than Amazon. £270 + 20%VAT +2.5%customs + handling. Right now I see it on Amazon as £399 but there is a £40 voucher, so now might be the time to get it from Amazon.

Ive a Blackview9900 Pro which has the same leptron flir module and I have to say that Dogees resolution appears to blow it out of the water, the high temp setting was crap but in fairness, unless your working on furnaces...and you won't be with a phone, the doogee seems to be a better investment..and Thats coming from a Flir user. My Blackviews getting tired now though and having a few issues but I would be very tempted to consider the doogee.

The FLIR app is more polished. Well it is now, the first version of the FLIR app was garbage. Hopefully the Doogee app will get better as well. Yeah the resolution of the Infiray blows the FLIR out of the water. Shame the FLIR framerate is locked due to the American export of 'military' technology thing.

Yes. It was the intensity of the mix I wish was adjustable. For me the visible light could do with being a little less intense over the IR as the IR has pretty good resolution on its own.
@DaveAber9999
@DaveAber9999 Жыл бұрын
@@DavidMcLuckie yeah, that mix is pretty useless as it is, with the resolution of the IR being so good. What does the slider on the mix actually adjust?
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie Жыл бұрын
It just aligns the overlay of the visible and IR. It needs a slight adjustment when you change from viewing a close object to a far away one.
@Graytail
@Graytail 5 ай бұрын
You've got the Doogee on the wrong setting.. it handles 2 temp ranges, someting like -10 -> 100 and 100+ You can change the mix values for how much 'visible' is shown, and there is a control for allignment correction too to compensate for the different camera positions. [My version of infiray seems to be more recent than yours, these settings may not have been in place at the time of this review]

What's your thoughts on the night vision phone function? I'm torn between the s98 Pro and s99.
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie Жыл бұрын
I found it mostly useless. As it's not really night vision, just an IR camera and an IR LED. Low light it's ok, but in the pitch black it turns on the IR LED, and then you can only see as far as the IR LED illuminates.

For a home-DIYer who wants to find overly hot components and whatnot, the Doogee does seem like the better option given its price and the fact it's an entire smaprtphone in one, whereas the FLIR is godawfully expensive and looks prone to being snapped off in the hands of someone who treats their test equipment like it was all made of bouncy rubber... :S
