I saw this on opening night in a packed theater in Los Angeles…. The crowd lost their collective minds…. One of the best movie going experiences of my life!

Playing the T-1000 was Robert Patrick's break out role. He actually reprised his role as the Terminator with really hilarious cameos in both Wayne's World (1992) and The Last Action Hero (1993). A really underrated actor IMO...

Arnold knew the "Come with me if you want to live" line because at the end of Terminator 1, remember Sarah was making those tapes for John, telling him about his father. We can assume she eventually told him about how Reese said "Come with me if you want to live" when she first met him. So John from the future told Arnold to say that to Sarah so she would understand he was there to help

A lot of people knew that Arnold will play the good guy based on the trailers and commercials shown during that time. I’m glad that you were pleasantly surprised by the twist.

The CGI for the liquid metal Terminator was massively state of the art for 1990-1991.

Fun fact: Robert Patrick trained himself to sprint without breathing through his mouth. They had to reshoot him chasing John on the dirt bike because he kept catching up.

When Arnold peels the skin off his arm, I always think 'what a perfect way to get Dyson to listen to EVERY WORD HE SAYS!'

Fun fact: 2 sets of identical twins were used in this film. Linda Hamilton's twin sister was used in the scene where they take the chip out of Arnie's head and switch it to learn mode, she plays Sarah's "reflection" in the mirror, which was actually just a mirror frame with Arnie facing the camera and Linda acting with a dummy of Arnold. The other twin was the security guard in the Psychiatric hospital when the T-1000 comes up from the floor and morphs into him before stabbing him through the eye

As a child, I loved all the action and special fx. As an adult, I learnt to love how noble Miles Dysons' final scene was and the "I now know why you cry" bit 😭

This movie is the gold standard of sequels; what they all aspire to, and so few of them achieve. James Cameron is a goddamn Canadian treasure.

This movie set the new standard for Special Effects. And James Cameron has been pushing the boundaries of what's possible ever since.

I love how Sarah goes from being terrified of the T-800 upon first seeing him, to grabbing his pistol out of his belt in the elevator like 2 minutes later.

The foster mother is played by the same actress who played Vasquez in alien. You can barely recognise her. She's a really great actress.

I believe James Cameron, the sly fox, set himself the ambitious goal, "Can I make the audience cry when a Terminator dies?" It is so totally unexpected compared to what you would expect after the first movie. The entire story is built around that twist.

I can't tell you how many times I theater-hopped and saw this in theaters when it came out! I'm still enjoying it 30 years later!

Hey Dawn, one of the amazing juxtapositions that happen when Sarah tries to kill Miles Dyson. -------- The fact that to fight the Terminator she's becoming more like the Terminator in her mannerisms. -------- It's only when face to face with the results of what she's about to do that she becomes human again and stood herself from killing him. ------- Three deep moral conundrums is what makes T2 such a compelling movie to stand the test of time.

I was in my senior year of high school when this came out. The whole grade got to go to the theater to watch it together. One of the most amazing movie experiences of my life.

The ending gets me every time, without fail. It’s both the best and saddest ending to a movie, ever.

Robert Patrick as the T-1000 was a highlight for me. I had a bust of him when his eye gets shot and you can see straight through it ( I wish I still had it ) The Terminator is an awesome film but this is one of those rare occasions when the sequel is just as good, if not better than the original. Linda Hamilton actually did learn how to pick locks for the escape scene. That's the reason the camera cuts away from the lock all the time. The taping was so accurate without editing that it was basically a "How to -" guide and showing that would have been a really bad idea.

This was the last movie i saw at out Drive In Theater before it closed down for good. You got the movie's sound by tuning into a specific radio station and it played through your car speakers. My Mother, Father, Sister, and I all crammed into our minivan and it was a movie experience ill never forget. I cried my eyes out at the end 👍

When he changed into the guard, he couldn't also turn part of himself into the gun because guns have complex moving parts, As Arnolds character says when he is explaining to John what kind of machine he is

This is just a perfect movie.

One thing that is really cool in this movie (among MANY things that are very cool) is that there are two sets of twins used to represent the T-1000's copying of both Sarah Conner (also during the nuclear blast nightmare sequence) and the security guard at the Pescadero facility. I'd wager that most people initially thought this was a film/editing technique, but the reality of it was much more simple!

I was spending the summer in Barranquilla, Colombia when this film came out and had no idea Arnie was the good guy. It was a very cool surprise when I saw it in the theater in Colombia!

This was a phenomenal film. I still remember the excitement when it came out. Robert Patrick's T-1000 was the highlight for me. The times I wanted him to get Connor junior.

I love the reactions when people find out Arnold is the protector, it never gets old. 17:05, "Stab him in the back, cut his tongue off, make him eat it", my kind of woman right there. And on a side note, Sarah trying to kill Dyson made her realize she was doing to him exactly what the terminators were trying to do to her and her son, in effect making her just like them, DEEP. One more thing, Love the pigtails.

Fun fact: the guard scene at the vending machine was actually played by twins, Don and Dan Stanton, who also appeared with Robin Williams in Good Morning Vietnam. Also, the scene with Dyson reveals the Skynet Paradox: Skynet was reverse engineered from its own technology. That’s the main reason I consider T2 to be the definitive conclusion to the saga. Everything after that is just padding.

I was at Edwards Air Force Base when they filmed this. (The final scene of The Terminator was there, and some of the scenes of T2 were there.) I thought before the movie came out that trying to do a sequel to The Terminator was a terrible idea. But James Cameron proved me very wrong. T2 was exceptionally well-made, and great fun. Your reaction was also another enjoyable watch, Dawn. As Nicolas Cage once said, "You're dangerously cute."

Your skills at figuring out plot points is improving. Also, love the Mt. Doom reference. Really putting together a significant film skill set. This was one of many great action films during the release period and helped put Arnold on a whole new trajectory with his performance. Keep deep diving the fun action films of the 80s and 90s. They can be a lot of fun to watch with a good crowd of friends.

One of only three movies I've ever *immediately* watched again after the first time watching. Other two being The Matrix and Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse. It was absolutely mind-blowing when it came out, people simply didn't make action movies that long, or with that much story, and the CGI was a decade ahead of its time. It's still a movie where the outside world completely ceases to exist while you watch it, because it commands your full attention.

Brilliant reaction. Most people knew Arnie was the good guy (including me) because it was revealed in the marketing for the film. Just one correction, the T1000 didnt melt into the floor, he spread himself very thinly over the top of it. So when the guard walked over him, he could mimic his form by touch. Robert Patrick who plays the T1000 is incredible in this film, one of the greatest bad guys ever. The CGI used to create the effects on his character revolutionised digital effects in films. This classic is 32 years old and it STILL beats anything today. A legendary masterpiece.

I met him, 'Arnold, The Terminator' while he was having a late lunch and had been filming Terminator 2. He took the time to pose for a high school photographer (me). I'll always remember him- a class act.

Lock picking is a great skill to have. My wife lost her house key. So, I gave her mine, and use my lock pick instead. Interesting trivia: Linda Hamilton actually learned how to pick locks for this film. The depiction of her picking the lock is very accurate.

I've watched T1 and T2 dozens of times and gladly re-watched them again with you. I saw T3 once and that was more than enough.

Hey Dawn. The twin security officers are also in another classic flick. It's a comedy called, " Good Morning Vietnam". You have to check it out. It's right up your alley.

Arnie (T-800) explains that the T-1000 cannot turn into complex machinery (i.e. aircraft, tanks, guns), because those require stuff other than metal to work (gunpowder, fuel, explosives). However, his ability to make stabbing weapons out of his body is good for sneaking around and killing targets silently. One thing that was mentioned in a video is how he always seems to lose the gun he was previously carrying. When you mentioned "oh, he can change into someone with a badge and accessories, but not the gun", it's because he's only giving off the impression of a clothed man. The "clothes" are actually made out of metal, the same as his body. So the badge, clothes, belt, shoes, accessories, they're all metal imitations made by the T-1000. And about the gun, either he hides it somewhere, changes into another form and conceals the gun back again, or he ditches the gun entirely. See how many times he grabs a different gun. From the officer at the start, to the guard, to the helicopter pilot, etc. One last thing: there are several versions of this movie with deleted scenes. The complete version shows that after the T-1000 got frozen, even though he formed himself back into his normal human shape, the cold temperatures actually damaged his ability of turning into stuff. He starts having glitches, like touching objects and getting stuck, or mismatched body parts (the top half of the normal police officer uniform with the lower half of the motorbike uniform, or when he touches metal grates and poles and starts taking their shape). The reason why John jumped out of the way for Sarah to shoot the T-1000, was because he saw the machine's feet glitched into the grates.

Within a matter of seconds Dawn goes from "I love Dunkin Donuts" to "Here comes the naked mannies!"

This movie blew us away when we watched it for the first time in the theater. Totally surprised us when Arnie ended up being the good guy. Glad you loved it. Sorry you lost your new dad.

One thing that always sticks out for me about this movie is that Guns N Roses released a song(You Could be Mine) and video from their new album that was in the movie. The song is great and the video for the song has Arnold/Terminator coming after the band. Great film! My favourite Arnie film, in fact. The special effects are outstanding, especially considering this film is over 30 years old. The CGI combined with the practical effects make it very real. Great reaction.

I have watched the movie dozens of times over the last 30 years and it still is fascinating and just awsome. What I find very interesting ever since is, that you can tell through the music pretty fast, that the T-1000 is the bad guy in this movie. Because in the scene of the future war, they use a soundtrack that equals the one when the T-1000 arrives in the present.

Must be feeling overly sentimental today because seeing how much you loved this movie got me all choked up; a truly great reaction, thank you!

The floor infact *is* equal size. He just spread himself absolutely flat on it to the point that he was paper thin. So his size didn't diminish, it just spread out over a larger surface area.

At 16:32 you say, “imagine seeing yourself.” These guys are twins, and they were both in Gremlins 2. There’s a pretty funny act they do in it. Gotta watch the first Gremlins movie beforehand.

The gun has gunpowder (chemicals) and mechanical moving parts, not a solid piece required for it to shape into. The robot is most likely made from nanotechnology for it to be able to change like that. " It's a boy movie" that had me on the floor.

The only movie I ever saw more than once in the theater. This was amazing.

10:42 Funny thing is, in the 1980s Robert Patrick was part time acting, and part time competing in marathons and track and field. He could run **insanely** fast, and for the first couple of takes was actually catching up to the bike/stunt rig within the first few seconds of action being called. For these shots, he was running at about 60 to 70% of his max speed. The only time in the movie he actually does sprint at full speed is during the escape from the mental institution, when he comes out of the elevator and is sprinting after the car (20:42) and you can tell because the cameraman started off with him in the left side of the shot, which is where he was supposed to be, but by the end, after literally four sprinted steps he was middle of the shot. That shot was actually cut short because he kept speeding up and the cameraman had to pan to keep him in shot and it looked weird.

This was great :) Another very good movie with Arnold is “True Lies”, I hope you react to that one soon. Jamie Lee Curtis is very good in that too, and Bill Paxton also (he was in the opening scene of the first Terminator movie)

I also think this one is better than the first, which is so rare. The rest of the series is kinda weird. Great reaction Lady Dawn. If you get a chance watch the extended version, there are some things that really add to it like the ending.

I remember even before the internet was a widespread thing, there were spoilers. I think over half the people walking into the theater in 1991 already knew Arnold was the good guy in this one. I wish it had been more of a surprise.

I remember seeing the original Terminator and Terminator 2 with my father and was so blown away. I've probably seen this at least once a year since then, and it just never gets old. Still holds up and definitely one of the greatest sequels in movie history. I absolutely had a blast watching you enjoy both movies. Keep them coming. You make me smile 😊❤

Not much to say that it's the greatest action movie ever made! It's flawless & I love it so much!!!!! I saw this at the cinema. When Robert Patrick wags his finger at Sarah Connor near the end of the movie the whole audience took it as a poke at them for anticipating his end too early and went "Awwwwwww". We had to wait just a bit longer.

As a kid watching this in the theater for the first time I knew Arnie was the good guy which made me living through John Connor being a kid relatable and why we love this awesome big machine man

I was 20 when this came out in 91. It's strange seeing people's reactions to it as a first time watch. I feel so old.

"Terminator 2: Judgement Day" is a great movie. Listening to your comments as you watch the movie is so entertaining, Dawn Marie. When Sarah Connor was escaping from the psychiatric prison you told Sarah to cut off the fat guy's tongue and make him eat it. When you were devastated by the sad ending and had to process your robot dad's 'death'. James Cameron is extremely skilled evoking emotions with his films. His "The Abyss" is a perfect example. What was really enjoying was how you couldn't accept the sad (robot dad's 'death') ending. It made so much sense when you blamed the boys for making the sad ending, Dawn Marie. Explaining that girls like happy endings. A girl director would have had everyone; Sarah, John and your robot dad, living happily ever after. Remember Dawn Marie, if you want your eyes to leak water then watch "The Abyss" (1989). Thank you so much Dawn Marie for making such a delightful reaction video.

With time-travel franchises, I find it best to say, 'yep, that's a thing' whenever a character tries to explain it.

The story, the acting - it's all brilliant! The causality loop in time is also known as a 'Bootstrap Paradox' due to the impossibility of it. Sarah Connor's PTSD nearly made her lose her humanity. In trying to save humanity, she was becoming a terminator herself. Fantastic character arc with incredible acting by Linda Hamilton. I think the T-1000 wasn't able to duplicate Sarah's voice until he could hear it first, which was why he was telling her to call for John at that one point near the end.

Industrial Light & Magic used T-2 as a testing ground to see how far they could push the technology to create fully CGI characters; they were at the time, also getting ready to start the VFX work on Jurassic Park. The blending of practical & CG effects still holds up today; & the stunt work is amazing. The cameraman who was due to film the helicopter sequence actually refused to film it, incase the pilot crashed, so Cameron filmed it himself. Fun Facts: The shot gun in the roses is a nod to Guns N Roses, who’s track You Could Be Mine is in the soundtrack. Also, the man taking photos when Arnie falls through the window in the mall, is the cop who is carjacked by the terminator in the first film. Robert Patrick (T-1000) reprised his role for a cameo in Wayne’s World 2. Although the theatrical cut is amazing, my personal favourite cut, is the special extended edition. It has several additional scenes; the T-1000 searching John’s room, a longer flashback sequence of the nuclear fire where Sarah initially has a vision of Kyle visiting her in the hospital & an awesome sequence where they remove (& Sarah nearly destroys) the T-800s cpu. There’s multiple other changes, including an upbeat ending where you see an older Sarah & John….plus grandchild playing in the park, which tied up the story nicely. The additions also make the film more about the humanity of the characters. Interestingly, the direct sequel to T-2 is the now closed T-2:3D Battle Across Time ride that was at Universal Studios. Personally, I’d skip the rest of the films & go straight to massively underrated Terminator Salvation; there’s some awesome nods to the first two films.

Dawn!! We are running for our lives here trying to evade the T-1000 and you are off to the side, living your best life watching the T-1000 unleash all of his fatal morphing tricks, regenerative fixes and overall nightmarish pursuit of John Connor. ------- Who's side are you on girl?

When this movie first came out and the T-1000 started morphing and shapeshifting, the whole theater yelled, "Woah!!!!" Our jaws were on the floor... no movie had anything even close to these vfx before

"Oh he's fast. Oh he's super fast!" During filming, Robert Patrick (the T-1000) actually ran fast enough to catch up to John on the bike. He also trained himself to fire a handgun without blinking, further increasing the unsettling "robotic nature" of the T-1000. "Skills. More skills." That was a custom made sawed off for the show, and Arnold was actually handed the wrong one for that scene on one shot, resulting in him almost breaking his hand from attempting that reload.
