Fr. Mike recalls Hezekiah's prayer for more time and reveals how Hezekiah did not use that time wisely. We all are only given a specific amount of time on this earth, and it's up to us to use that time to become more like Christ, so we can spend eternity with him in heaven. Today's readings are 2 Kings 21, 2 Chronicles 32, and Psalm 145.

I just survived kidney cancer 4 months ago. I have no doubt that the prayers from the listeners of Catechism in a Year had a lot to do with this. I pray I can use what time I have left to be more Christ-like.

July 7, 2023 Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. Go ahead, just take about 30 seconds to help save a soul that maybe is your family member or friend! Go forth and help save! Here is the prayer: (According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.) The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

As I lay in bed last night sicker than a dog, coughing and coughing so much that I couldn't sleep, I finally prayed to God for some relief. I almost never pray for myself but finally I asked Him for help. I woke up several hours later because apparently my cough and illness succumbed just enough for me to get some rest. I woke up amazed and thanked the Lord. Then I sat down to Day 187 with Fr. Mike and the story of Hezekiah on his death bed. While I certainly wasn't on my death bed (even though it felt like it), I can't help but think that God through Fr. Mike is telling me and all of us to use our time wisely in service to the Lord. Don't be like Hezekiah and squander your final days foolishly. Because you never know if these are your final days or not. God, thank you for setting me on the right path in service to You through my illness, my prayer, scripture and the message of your servant Fr. Mike. Amen.

Such a beautiful commentary. I personally think this was meant for me this am as I entertain people of little or no faith this week. After fighting Colin cancer this year, God has given me a cancer free diagnosis for now. So I am so very thankful and pray that I can be of help in bringing others to Christ in my remaining years. This I pray everyday. It is a difficult journey, but the fight is for Our Lord and His children.

Pray for me I work 3 jobs and am living paycheck to paycheck am behind in many bills. As soon as I catch up with one something happens and I'm back where I was. Pray for financial blessings and solutions to this weight and burden from me.

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, discerning, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand both the Old & the New Testaments that we may revere & treasure the words which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

Your comments about St. Dominic Savio (who died at age 14) really resonated with me as my niece died when she was only 15. She was in the hospital for quite a long time and I had occasion to stay with her for extended periods. After one of the times I was told to call her parents (because the staff felt her end was near), she rebounded and conveyed that she had met Jesus, that He showed her Heaven, and told her that she had passed her test and would be with Him forever. Her face was absolutely RADIANT as she revealed all of this! She expressed that she was not afraid, but knew her parents would be sad. She was concerned about some of her friends who were starting to get involved with boys, drugs, and "other bad things." She then added that I didn't know if I was going to pass my test; that I could be a really good man for 40 or 50 years, do something bad, get hit by a truck, and fail my test! To say that she changed my life would be a gross understatement!

What a beautiful prayer Father Mike🥰❗️ I’m 83 , at this age I just keep on thanking God for giving me long life. I have 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. In my prayers almost everyday I’d mentioned their names and thanking God that all of them You have blessed with good life O Most Loving God!!! They are good practicing Catholic. With only one son married to a protestant but ok with me for my daughter-in-law is a good member of their church. I’m at peace,I sleep well, eat well and have joy in my heart. Biay has been my everyday companion . A big big thanks to you Father Mike, Jeff Cavin and all those who made this possible…a little time with God. God bless us all Biay members. Father Mike, you are too funny at the beginning of this study. I like you much. You could be my son. Ha ha ha! Ok, seriously. this is an eye opning, thought provoking reflection. Yes, God heals us of all our illnesses or sickness when we ask Him, but do we ever ask the Lord what would He want us to do on the extra time He blessed us with? I am ashame to say I never thought of it. Thank you, Father Mike for the thought.

Thank you Father Mike for the reading a commentary. I invite all to pray for Souls in Purgatory. Offer up your Bible study time, your suffering, your willingness to do something you do not want to do to the Souls of Purgatory. I just love all that I have learned from Saint Faustina and the Divine Mercy. You can hear her Diary in a Year with Father Roesch on the Marian Press Poscast. Each day’s reading is just 7 minutes long.

What I find interesting is that God granted Hezekiah an affirmative answer to his pray and a lengthening of his life knowing how he was going to utilise his free will and the damage it was going to do to his legacy and the future of the kingdom of Judah. Hmmm! Be careful what you pray for. Some food for thought.

When he judges me I want to ask him why he did not help me and allow me to be on the right paths in life. He has powers and can do anything but he allowed me to give myself this awful life. Why did he not make me choose the right person?

God gave us free will and He will not interfere with our choices. God loves us and He keeps throwing hints our way and we either notice or ignore them.❤🙏
