Be still my heart- green chili! I make mine very similarly except bone in pork chop, cut it up and off of the bone, brown it up with the bones, add water and simmer a 30-45 minutes, (that way you don't need chicken broth) take out the bones, skim off the scummy stuff and continue the same way you did. I still make peanut brittle on the stove, I didn't know you could make it in the microwave, that's so much faster! I was a youth leader in Denver and we made peanut brittle as a fund raiser for camp every year. I've literally made hundreds of batches, several going at a time. We got the whole youth group involved with the stretching, weighing and packaging but no kids in the kitchen, too dangerous. Our pastor's wife taught me how to make it, and she buttered a couple of wooden spoons and kind of stretched it really fast when it was just poured instead of trying to spread it. One person pouring, one person stretching but you can do it yourself if you're quick. It makes it thinner and you could get it stretched to the whole size of the pan you used. I found a grocery store here in Dallas that sets up the propane burners to roast chilis for a couple of weekends during green chili season, I couldn't believe it. I usually freeze them but got a pressure canner last year and canned them this year. Smothered burritos are the best and I make mine like Aaron but also eat it in a bowl like you. My sister in-law said to me the other day...man I wish you would make those candied pecans you made that 1 year...and I thought oh holy hell how am I going to find that recipe. So my husband bought me the most beautiful parka for my birthday. Your new coat reminded me of that. He bought it at a small local shop. I loved that coat for many years.

I live on a ridge and I get more snow than town, so I know what your saying on the snow totals, but I definitely don’t get what you get in snow. I buy a pork loin and slice it up for pork chops and the rest I use for a pork roast. Pecans are my favorite nut and these are so yummy. Cashews and pistachios are my next in line favorites. I make my green chili with beef. I take a flank steak and cube it , I chop all my ingredients by hand. I use a combination of green chilis, Serrano and jalapeños. Of course lots of onion, garlic and garlic powder, salt and pepper. We also make burritos out of it but only stuff it with green chili and then smother the tortilla with more green chili. I got the recipe from my mother in law who got it from the Hispanic ladies in her neighborhood.

Fun video. I’ve never heard of Green Chili. My mother made peanut brittle a lot- she would pull it apart with two forks so the brittle was thinner and really tender. when i use corn starch i dont use as much water the mixture is thicker but when u add that much water its adding more liquid to the pot xx so yous half the water and it will not put extra water in x

I make old fashioned peanut brittle. There is nothing like it! I tried the microwave method and didn't like it. It's worth it to take the time and do it on the stove top. I always add a little extra baking soda to mine so it will bubble more, makes it a little easier to bite into.

I make something similar for tacos. Salsa verde pork. Just salsa Verde, onions, and seasoning. Serve over rice or on corn tortillas with toppings.

i was in a similar situation a year ago. I told my daughters (ages 43,42,36), and grandchildren what was going on any what was going to happen. i never wanted to dwell on it. I put it in God's hands. It was all going to work out as God had planned. I always believed everything happens for a reason and in Gods time the plan will be revealed. I want them, my daughters and grandchildren, to see, i had faith in all the doctor's treatment plan. I was strong I had faith; they would never see me have a pity party. I wanted handle to it with grace, trusting always in God. Thats not to say i didn't cry i didGod

My brother makes peanut brittle. His is light and fluffy, not hard on the teeth. I took some to work one time and let people try it. Everyone wanted to order. Before it was over I’d sold over 100 bags. I filled a large ice chest and had bags to carry in. I worked in a locked psychiatric unit. It was over the hill and through the woods, it sat at the back of the property. Included going in three buildings an elevator and a jaunt around the koi pond and over a bridge in freezing weather. I never did that again. The men in my family are candy makers.
