Truck has 2 gears for low speed and 2 gears for high speed, this is used irl, it depends on weight and terrain, basically 3rd and 4th gears are for moving fast, the first ones are for climbing terrains

@@f10ki The real world truck the M3S is based on, has only 4 gears, not 16. Many semi trucks may have 16 gears, but this isn't a semi. It is based on the Czechoslovakian made Praga V3S en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Praga_V3S

Just a kind note about transmision in the truck. It is highly realistic as those old truck had lower gears intended to be use with load and hars condition. It was usuall to use gear 2 or 3 to run vehicle when no slope is present. Novadays, when trucks has atomatic transmission, this is no more a thing.

Pro tip If you can put any water in the radiator, half water bottle etc, the car won't overheat. Always drive in first person, less likely to disconnect or have your game crash. If you are driving with friends, have them be in first person looking straight down. This will also make it less likely to lag out or dashboard.

Little trick I found works with the M3S Truck is when going downhill bump the truck into Neutral and freewheel it you can hit 80mph+ easy just use the brakes to control your speed then before going into gear again build up the RPM's high first then bump it right into 4th gear and you're good to go you will never drive below 40mph again and don't forget even if playing on console while using keyboard the driving sensitivity is slower and easier to control and left shift whilst driving is your turbo which helps a lot on hills

Thanks this is so useful and you are so kind to share this. I think and hope the devs have made the lights on charge better the battery when the car of course is moving. It would be cool if one could also play some music like random stuff like connecting to various radios (fake putting stuff in a loop) channels... Maybe this nice addition would be needed to be found in game... One could even modify the car radio making it a radio transmitter to speak (like police or military do) with other radio depending on the frequency you connect to. I like your suggestions by the way. I am wondering how did you sit there near the fire? Cool stuff. Seems nobody mentions fuel, so fuel must not be a problem.. one needs just to get to a fuel station I guess.

The trucks gears are that way because its a logging truck, 1st & 2nd are all torque to go through deep mud & steep hills and 3rd is in between.

Here's another trick for you guys, if you put the M3S in neutral while going downhill you can go way faster than normal, you can get speed upto 80kmh if its a long or steep decline, hope this helps

It has been about 6 or more months since I have played, but unless the devs changed it, the M3S tends to overheat if you are driving downhill and exceed 48-50mph (or KPH, I forget which they use). It will start to make noise to alert you if you pay attention but sometimes you don't hear it over the truck's normal engine noise.

On the downhills just slap it into neutral, you go fast as hell but theres no more overreving

If the vehicle is flipped you can drop a door panel under it and throw crap at it to flip it back over

So i found on console with the turbo button you can use your controller at the same time and it's way easier to drive just jam the shift button down.

For the truck on a down hill throw to neutral and you can hit up to 110 km aswel.. I have done this hit down shift 4x fast.. if you do it too slow you will stop instantly

I often keep a crate in the car too so whenever I need to stash the car momentarily I can safely stash the battery, sparkplug and extra radiator

@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 The city bus was so much fun for driving up and down the coastal highway, picking up bambies, then having giant beach parties where everyone commits ritual suicide as the sun rises. DayZ Alpha was buggy af, but it was also so friggin' fun. I'm still waiting for the archery stuff to return, including the "new" PVC bow and recurve bow. I say "new" because the models have been completed since alpha. Same with the bicycle, dirt bike, tuk-tuk, helicopter, and crop duster airplane. At this point, I've pretty much given up on ever seeing those implemented into vanilla DayZ. Edit: I do take some solace in that DayZ has been referred to by Bohemia Interactive as a "test bed" for stuff they want to implement into Arma 4. Wind being one of the most overt systems they've been testing, as well as wind/rain occluding objects like trees and structures. Makes me suspect Arma 4 ballistics will see windage taken into account in ballistic calculations, and as someone whom shoots at a 1,000 yard high power range IRL for fun, this has me VERY excited.

TBH going around the map at 40 -60 KMH will get you there safely and quick enough, even in the M3S; the high speeds seem to make the car fly way too often to be worth it.

How do you know what needs repaired when the red check engine light come on and the car cuts off. Every time I get in a car this happens in just a couple minutes without hitting anything or over reving it.

I think mods like Trader Plus really nail vehicles well. In that mod, you can buy a vehicle, password lock it, and then toggle the lock by approaching the vehicle and holding LMB. You can even lock the vehicle once you're inside. This means if someone shoots and kills you while driving, they can't get to you or your vehicle's loot. It also introduces a vehicle code lock that can be attached to world-spawned vehicles that makes them behave like a purchased vehicle. However, for balance, these locks can be picked with the car lockpick. Attempting to pick a car lock sounds a car alarm that can be heard out to 500m. Fantastic mod.

Player log and event logs is what cases the most trouble with lag....If you dont beleave me have a friend log out while in a car with you.or pay attention the the player list while your driving

The only other downside to the truck aside from the speed is if you fuel tank gets ruined the petrol drains really quick. Once filled up to the top in zelenorsk and by the time I reached bor it was completely empty. By then you're just best of despawning it

from now on i think i should avoid the smaller cars since once in a vanilla i broke into a base with cars. i took the smallest one for a spin. andd. things didnt end well the car started bouncing everywhere and i die.. lost all my gear and quit for like a day LOL

do you know what to do if you are booted from the game while driving a truck? when you log back in your character is stuck in the cab but can't move? the trick is to drink gasoline which you have kept in a jerry can in the back of your truck, the moment you are sick, you can briefly move, open the door of the truck and climb out.

If using a truck for a base, it would be nice to be able to have a switch activated booby trap IED (a la Mad Max) to protect one's mobile base while one is away from it.

I park my ‘truck bases’ with the driver side up on a bush and then double landmine the area in front of the door. Ppl will run to the driver side to drive it off and reap their reward.

My pro tip: don't drive more than 40km/h or your car will crash because an ant crossing the street and you will die instantly while your car is completely ruined.

Never fill a radiator you only need over half way point to drive without damaging the car or Radiator. On console. Not sure about PC

My character chose to jump at 5kph, because the car didnt fully stopped and began drifting backwards in a hill. Most pointless cut I've got... but still alive nontheless. Also, this vehicles drive like a dream, after playing snowrunner and expecting them to get stuck in 2 inches of mud the moment they go off road.

PRO TIP FROM A CONSOLE VET cars are death traps and player magnets If you find a car that works go where you need to and leave it If you build a car to keep dont leave anything attached to it when you log off They do not last long

The ability to lock a car is a bad ideea. Because ppl will find a car that just spawned and lock it out of pure evil without any intention to fix it. The camo net for the cars is a great ideea (it.s also a good ideea to make it despawn proof).

I've been playing DayZ for years and never knew the battery, radiator, or tires could be locked into place. I would recommend changing the video name to just "DayZ tips and tricks" there are some things even experienced players don't even know.

driving in dayz is like walking in dayz. glitchy and buggy. i mean in their defense its only 2022 and we only listen to music on 8 tracks or from our grandpas singing to us. why would a video game run well and not be bugged out to the max.
