If I travel back in time and kill my grandfather when he was a kid, then I would never have been born to travel back and kill him, meaning I would have been born to kill him, meaning I would never have been born. Stop! This is not how time travel works. I only travel to another universe, changing the past doesn't change the future, only give a new future for that past, the future world still exists

Whether Spooner’s mom died or not, the important thing was getting little Spooner to the Fountain which they did. Remember not everyone is important to the timeline.

It's normal for Spooner's mother to live alone in 1925 in Texas. Spooner disappears into the time line anyway. It feels like Astra and Spooner came before Spooner disappeared as a child. Who knows if the time line hasn't changed significantly if the time line is like this before. Perhaps Gideon will talk about the impact on the time line in future episodes.

But Spooner's mom never died originally. Spooner just was transported to future, so till the time she was back, her mom had died of old age. But still alive in 1925.
