Here's a super quick overview of the InsideRide Real E-Motion smart rollers with the floating fork stand. In particular, this video is really about the movement portion of the floating fork stand and is honestly meant as a short companion to the larger in-depth review linked above. It's kinda hard to explain the concept in text easily, so videos are easier. The floating fork stand though essentially gives you movement that more accurately mimics outside riding from a body/bike position standpoint.
Full accuracy/etc in the in-depth review.

Good vid Ray, welcome back. I like the motion options but not big on the rollers, keep 'em coming.

That just LOOKS way more comfy and natural than any rocker plates I've seen. I have the climb so not sure a rocker plate could made that does this WITH that (and does it well), but that seems like the dream (besides that weird bike treadmill TACX made that seems awesome but expensive)

I own the Elite Quick Motion and Kreitler Rollers. I love how smooth Kreitler are but Love how nice Elite move back and forth. Btw I would never risk mounting my bike by the fork, one wrong movement or mistake and you can kiss your bike goodbye. My opinion is, if you buy rollers, then use it as rollers!

Due to space limitations, I cant setup my kickr+bike without taking off my front tire. Any thoughts on making a front fork mount that wont destroy my bike?

Chief_ Trukalot 7 months late but seems like a turbo trainer would be a much better option for you. Here because the back of the bike is free you’re getting a lot of flex going through your forks whereas a turbo would lock your back wheel

Ooh, pity the floating fork stand doesn't do a restricted sideways rotation (+- 6deg?) that should avoid the lateral stress on the fork and prevent someone from falling off the bike as well? But what about the response rate of rollers? Even if you have PM to do power match. Wouldn't there be a delay that makes some workout less effective? Though I guess any limitations will be similar to wheel on trainers?
@BenLanders
@BenLanders 6 ай бұрын
Questions: When using power match, do you link Zwift only to the on-bike PM or do you link it to the e-motion rollers? What is the stand you're using for the TV? And do you like it?

I own these rollers without the fork stand and they feel amazing in use. Full on sprints are not an issue and feel very natural. Personally I feel tying your bike down with the fork stand defeats the main advantage/purpose for why one would buy this unit. That being said it is great to have options and there are scenarios where the fork stand could come in handy. .i.e. Recovering from an injury..
@medilink12

Best without the fork stand. Agreed. The full free float is the point of rollers. Engages the rider and the core much more.

Out of curiosity, how do you do max 5-10 seconds repeated efforts on rollers? Cause some training workout on Sufferfest has these power spikes which I think would not be suitable for rollers? Standing starts, fast and slow cadence/speed works? And I'm curious, some workouts will really beat you out, would that cause the risk of falling off the bike higher? Especially on rollers like the Elite with the front to back motion thingy.
@Ed-qv2qd
@Ed-qv2qd 5 жыл бұрын
@@OmarTan Max effort repeats, just stand up and hammer away. I've never had an issue with them. It may take a new rider a ride or two to mentally fully accept that they are ok to do so. Once you are there it really is second nature. The small roller wheels at the front on each side will prevent you from riding off the main rollers. I've done slow cadence work down to 40 without issues. Is there increased risk you can fall over if you really did too deep? I haven't yet but sure I could see that happening. I would think one would just unclip and put their foot down. Really no different then going too deep while riding outside. Best advice I can give is add a platform to the left and right of the rollers to step off onto or set them up in a doorway. Really it can't be emphasized enough that it is the forward/backwards motion which make riding these rollers so much more accessible than standard fixed rollers.

@@Ed-qv2qd thanks! As I'm thinking of the Elite Nero but not much review online and it's between the Nero or some Direct Drive trainers and because of some workouts like standing starts, or those 5-10s power intervals, makes me worry that the rollers is not suitable for it. I wonder will the nature of rollers allow you to "dig" deeper than on static it'll feel closer to riding outdoors no? And that you'll probably feel more motivated riding?

On a scale of "0 to Alberto Contador out of the saddle up a hill looking like a magnificent soaring eagle with wings at full span riding warm thermal updrafts" that looks to be a -5. I'll give merit to those who say a little wiggle is welcome on an indoor trainer....Yep. Cool. I get that. Out of the saddle.... just.... what.. *sigh*.... that's f'king horrible.

Shane Miller - GPLama I agree... it has the same problem as rocker plates that you showed in one of your reviews: whichever side you're putting force into goes down (opposite from the real world). I actually think the forward backward thing of this trainer is more interesting and natural than the side to side.

Seems like it's missing 1deg of freedom (barrel) in the fork block, so major leans are still awkward.

I can confirm in use without the fork stand (I have not used them with the fork stand) they feel very natural and has no negative impact on one's riding rhythm. Really the benefits of the f/b motion is for when you are using them as rollers without the stand. It allows you to stand up and do full on sprints with ease and without altering your technique. With the fork stand attached I have to think there is really no benefit of the f/b motion as your bike is pretty much held in place.

Can it really be that hard to engineer one that actually achieves what it's trying to? Why not have a roller on the front connected with a belt to the rear roller. Clamp the fork like a normal trainer on the quick release, and use a bushing based setup like the kinetic rock and roll. I wouldn't doubt even taking the rock and roll and adding a front roller would be pretty darn realistic and easier to make.

If they are smart they should promote this product at Basic Fit in Europe for next fall. So many fat guys could work on it indoors when it rains and snows outside while watching wobbeling girls. Then the product would be introduced and get a chance on the market.

This roller setup is $1350!!!! Probably would be a mistake to buy one and be a test dummy as the issues reveal on a new design. No thanks. I've already tried the Wahoo 2018 and Cyclops H2. Both sent back due to problems with poorly balanced flywheels causing major vibration......yeah I know 70% don't have issues? Or some per cent? But too many people report too many issues for the asking price..... I dunno.... These manufacturers want the big bucks ($1200 to $1500) for smart trainers but seems like they don't want to spend that money on true R&D, real engineering and QC. Niche market problems perhaps? But hey, in two weeks, maybe the Yahoos at Wahoo or perhaps Garmin/Tacx will put out a more reliable or even issue-free smart trainer.

Why dont you like rollers ?
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 3 жыл бұрын
In general if I'm going to be indoors riding, I want the best possible indoor trainer experience, and to date, rollers don't deliver that. Sure, they deliver a more realistic chance of falling off and improvements in balance skills, but that's kinda where it ends. Like I said in the video, some people love them - and that's fine. We all don't have to like the same things.
