What a great movie. Bogart is as always: wonderful. Supporting cast superb. And Ethyl Barrymore! Awesome. Just awesome. The Barrymores are quite a family, huh?! Thanks goodness for film preservation. The colorization was well done. It's taken me a while to come around to it! Thanks for the great time!

The films are significant. Colorization doesn't change a film's value rather it provides a choice of an aesthetic that can make it easier to view. It's a choice not an order.

Given it is film noir, shouldn’t it be watched in black and white?

How true, but aren’t movie fans also deserving of watching the opening credits? After all, if one’s intention is to enhance and update the film with colorization, why not show the film in its entirety? After all, credits aren’t always simply a list of the folks who worked on the film. Consider, for example, another Richard Brooks film, In Cold Blood. There is much said about the film’s main character in that film’s opening credits.

Sorry, but colorizing movies is an insult to the integrity and intention of the film. Also, they always look weird because the original lighting was chosen (as well as fabrics, background, makeup, shadows) *specifically* for black and white films. I will go back to watching this great movie in B & W as it was meant to be seen.

Sorry. This is a glorification of the “newspaper” and “journalism” of what is nothing more than a cheap saloon floozy. It never was what this movie portrayed. So, no. Colorization is not “bastardization” of the movie. No matter how much I like Humphrey Bogart. This merely put to color to the “vamps” and “tramps” of this “oldest profession.” The vamps and tramps today existed then as today. The only difference is, today, they’re glorified, and fixed the last election with their collective lies and deceit. The oldest profession in the world.

Another great Bogey flick. Just wondered (In this vid) why Bogey had the power to interrogate suspects. Not being an LEO, but a Newspaper man. (Not good Bogey). Was that the standard practice for your paper? ELISTIST Mongols (Bogey) to sweat victims???? Love his vids. Treasure Siera Madra, Sahara, Maltese, Casablanca, ETC.... A gifted man. I don't smoke. It’s nice to see Classic Films becoming colorized. There’s also a lot to be said for B&W Films. The arrangement of the lighting, using shadows to emphasize the character and the scene, which can make it more dramatic. Either way it’s another level of technical innovation. 🎥🎬🍿

What a coincidence colorized cinema would come out with this edition at this moment in history when the Bolsheviks are squaring off with the Christian Nationalists. Whoever is behind its publication I thank you. As a retired old school reporter I thank whomever for posting this testament to honest journalism. I also thank Bogey for taking the role. Kudos to everyone in the production. Guess CNN and MSNBC have been facing off against Tucker Carlson, Ron and Rand Paul, et al for quite a time, perhaps in memoram.

Too bad the image had its top lopped off, to make it more 'wide screen' I suppose. So Bogart loses a forehead and so do a lot of other actors. The colorization isn't too bad although there are fluctuating colors throughout on clothing and other things. They kept faces pretty consistent, though, which is a good thing. I give it a B on the A to D graph, A being the best, B being good, C being poor, and D being unwatchable.

Based on all of the negative comments from others, there seems to be no excuse for the way you ruined this film. First, the disgraceful computer generated introduction which immediately signaled a high probability of bad things to come. Well, you didn’t disappoint! The colorization was dismal at best, and really interfered with watching a classic film NOIR (that’s “black” in French, as you well know). There are many things in life which don’t need to be changed. This is one of them.
