What a start to a map! Blood Geometry definitely fits the name, lots of red all around! Listening to a MIDI rendition of Mission Landing from the original Unreal Tournament brings me back when I played it back in the day!

That final battle is probably one of my favorite types of classic Doom: restricted area for movement, good variety and quantity of monsters and a fair ammount of odds against you. Makes the satisfaction of overcoming such challenge incredibly high. Not to mention that genius of the room with the Arch-Viles. This is such a well designed level and wad in general. Congrats on the first try, btw, it was very inspiring.

I learned some geometry in high school and forgot most of it but I definitely don't remember any blood being involved.

The hype for the final 10 levels is rising. But the awesomeness and chill nature of Decino is satisfying enough to wait for them

It is my headcannon that Peter is the one that does the "blind run" and decino just talks over it. Then he just shows us his blind run, trying to deceive us by saying he practiced before. Wake up sheeple, decino can never die on a doom level

It's tough, has great opportunities for setting up infights, looks great with the added beige, and the Unreal Tournament BGM gets you pumped nicely. Plus, that genius pillar swap room. Hell yea, another victory at attempt #1! You really got with the program, eh mr. Magnificent?

I think this map is one where the Sunder influence comes through more strongly in the wad. The cubey architecture detailing and red, black and tan colour scheme is very similar to Gazebo's mapping style, same with the complete lack of secrets. I had a real "what the actual fuck" kind of reaction when I first played the vile room, and it's almost impossible if you don't have a good strategy worked out for it.

I think the final map is my favorite map definitely. Can't wait for that one.

I really like how you appreciate the clever designs, the "brilliant" arch vile room here is a very neat battle set piece. just wait until level 29 which has the ultimately ingenious arch vile battle!

The music in this level sounds like one I heard from unreal tournament. Edit: at 6:30 you shouldn’t have shot the cyberdemon because he turned on you as a result.

This is a fun map and from here it becomes more difficult especially in the tight space you have to fight lots of enemies and how to use the environment as a shield to avoid damage and use infighting as much as possible. My first time in this map was WTF way to little ammo and room to manoeuvre but after some practice it's not so bad 😃

The first thing that made me fall in love with this level? The music... it's "Mission Landing" from Unreal Tournament - one of the best game soundtracks of all time in my opinion.

Sunlust is an example of a true challenge that doesn't pull any bullshit moves.

The music in these maps are all pretty good but this one has my favorite so far, it has a "final showdown" feeling and it wouldn't be too out of place in other games genres like RPGs either.

The archvile room is just an insanely abstract, "video game mechanic" idea but it's just so wonderful. The final fight though, was absolutely the hardest fight for me so far in the wad. Might just be personal variance and such, but that room fills up SUPER quick and if you no longer have room to rocket you're done for. You have to do a lot of rather specific herding and make sure to make breaks for places like the switch area every so often while still keeping up a high kill count to make sure you don't get smothered.

Oh boy! Now begins the part where Sunlust drops the boxing gloves and changes them for a baseball bat spiked with grenades.

The layout of this map is really interesting, it has what is in its namesake (It has alot of geometric shapes) and the different areas all try to test your strategies, luck, memory etc. I also have to thank you, Decino, for your wholesome and chill voice. I usually get scared by unsuspecting sounds but when your voice conquers the sound of the demons, i get really relaxed.

That map was super badass and kooo! Nice job.🤙

I just seriously played through this level and it took me many attempts to beat it saveless on UV Max. I probably know this map better at the current moment than Ribbiks himself does (from memory). Your run was truly incredible. Because of how little you practiced it, it was actually strategically very suboptimal in many points. For example, not trying to save ammo and health for later fights, fighting from the yellow key terrace is less reliable/higher variance than fighting from the main archvile room once you know how to approach it etc. And yet you almost effortlessly beat the map first try, which aside from some favorable RNG is a testament to your raw technical skill and ability to just beat a map under whatever conditions, at least compared to some normie like myself. And this was almost 4 years ago. Bravo.

Unreal Tournament Mission Landing

Oh, that Unreal Tournament music caught me off guard. Used to play it in high school in my first period CAD class. Such a great game. Awesome vid as usual decino :D

Well I'm sold. When you were playing the early levels I was skeptical of the amount of traps that felt cheap, but the Archvile room and the genius layout of the rest of this level has changed my mind. The levels were already getting really good but this is the pivot point, bravo map makers and bravo to you for beating it on your first proper non-blind try!!

MIDI for this level is fantastic. No secrets keeps all focus on what's happening but damn watching the entire Sunlust playthrough & can see why it's been a major talking point so many years later. Incredible map design that would break players like me very quickly 😉

I started watching your videos @decino and damn how much skill do you have in every section but i like this list of videos in sunlust and other because you show us the blinds run and that made you Godlike, sorry bad words haha, Human in every mistake and it is really fun watching yours victories and defeats. This UT(Unreal Tournament) 99 ost in this is Mission Landing and reminds me of the Assault mode in UT and when i played myself or with friends. There was another Monster Hunt mod, it was crazy the modification and design in some of these maps (If you dont know it, it was made from the monsters in Unreal 1 and some players made modifications sometimes in monster weapons,size, life points,behavior or new monsters from other games. It was made to be a Slaughter in some maps). This sunlust wad in design and challenge is really impressive and it test every section your skill. Good luck and i really like your calm and high aproaching against every obstacule in this wad. Only watching it i sense the difficulty. I will continue to watch this journey and videos

Eyyyy just in time before heading to bed

I accidentally found a way to make the final fight a bit easier, feels kinda cheesy to use though. During the cyberdemon/revenant/hellknight/mancubus fight, I noticed a stray cyberdemon rocket hit the wall above where the imps are in the final room. Then I found a spot where I can do the same with my own rockets and kill a lot of imps in advance. The tricky part is luring the barons to the right spots in the last fight anyway, so this is not a major help, but it's something.

It is because of the skull children that we have skull keys. Keys to their hearts... which in this game is RIP and TEAR.

Map20 is pure slaughter hell.
