Love seeing some construction videos that are not just of your house since I can't really relate to new construction. I think it would be great if you could incorporate more videos of remodels or DIY in existing homes.

FYI the versetta stone on an outside chimney is done on RR builders if you want to look it’s a two story like yours! Looks great !

Typically, it is best to treat for termites before adding any concrete or deck structure next to the house. , You only would have to treat the perimeter of the main house since you are using pressure treated lumber on the deck. You can also treat the grass and weeds under the deck at the same time with a total-kill product before you put down your soil cloth and rocks. Home Depot sells some clear-glass railing and composite railing and it is quite beautiful. If you install it yourself, it is not overly expensive. Great job!

Thank you for the video. Did you just attach the ledger board with lag screws? I heard it had to be carriage bolts. Any thoughts? Are both options okay? Carriage bolts seem like a pain since u gotta go inside the crawl space

I wonder if that 1/4in difference in the boards could've been the PT boards shrinking a bit as they dry. If so, could that mean the new deck may be 1/4in lower than the original when it finishes drying?

Extended about what 13 feet? Curious to know the lumber costs for that job? Wife wants me to do this to ours because the deck is so small but I’ve never built a deck before...might tackle it after seeing your video

The degree to which the time lapse accelerated actions, I could not determine if the decking was nailed or screwed down.

Maybe sand the old deck and a stain to match to the new? Maybe not able to get a perfect match but it would look better than it does.

We did this last year and it's ended up evening out and looks pretty good!

That railings not really safe with having the 4x4 every 6ft distance or whatever its supposed to be for strengthening!!

I'd be worried that some of the difference in joist thickness was due to the new ones being still "wet" and that, over time, they will shrink like the old ones did and there will be a trip hazard right down the middle of the old/new deck. I'd be surprise if that accounted for the full 1/2" you describe, but I wouldn't be surprised if it accounted for a 1/4" or so. Hopefully it's not the case. Keep up the great work.
