I shot my biggest buck in 34 years of hunting! He was 1 of our target bucks as well and my son was able to watch me shoot him. It was a 9 point and we think he was about 5 1/2 years old. One of the neighbors had been hunting him for 3 years. Feels so good to finally have a buck worthy of a shoulder mount!

Great information! Thank you. I definitely need to get rid of some high canopy trees on my property as they are mostly popular and maple.

Glad it was helpful! Those poplar roots will create a lot of regenerative growth very quickly once the main tree is cut down. Great way to get it in there fast.

I couldn’t sleep the night before opening day. I slept in opening morning. When I went out, I walked past my 80 year old uncle’s stand, who was there since 5:00am. Got to my stand around 9:00 am and immediately had a small doe in the food plot in front of me. Around 9:30, a big 11 pointer stepped out and I dropped it in its tracks with my 7mm magnum. Hunted all of 1/2 hour for the 2023 season. I got my target buck but feel I didn’t work that hard to get it.

Very successful, 8 point from my deck 😂😂 This winter I'm putting in an acre micro parcel in about ten acres of woods I'm thinning to allow my property to hold more deer. I'm in zone 8 so I'm adding persimmon trees to my plot, persimmon fruits from September through November here.

So here is how my season has gone so far. Bow season didng have time to get out mush so no surprise I didn't get anythings. But my problem is that deer always move at night on my property. I have a big area of oak trees and a small crappy first year food plot and a field. in every single one of those places the deer only come out between midnight and 4:30 am So seeing deer move during that day is not verrry common.I have no pressure. no one directly next to me hunts so beside me there is no pressure and like I said I barely went out till riffle. As for buck I saw one buck all season and it was not legal. Trail cams got 2 legal buck but again only between midnight and 430 am. and they were only around a few days. So over all not great but I am going to thin out a lot of the jack pine and make my food plot bigger and I am planting some fruit trees and hazels nut trees to help future years. also going to work on a few more stands and blind options to pick from.

I got a question on how I can make my property better. I have 10 acres, not much cover mostly brush. I live right next to a farm and they normally come to my property right after shooting time.

You can always add a small honey hole food plot to have a more attractive food source than the surrounding areas and anything you can do to screen that and thicken up your property is always going to help. Good luck!

Great Information and new subscriber. Son took a nice trophy 8 this past season in TN. Getting ahead of this coming season. Would be interested in hearing how you may deal with coyotes.

if i were to put a food plot in, would i be better to put it closer or further away from neighbor (who has food plots). same side as his property or opposite side? thanks. love your tips

Working with your neighbors on harvest goals is the best solution but if you're truly trying to "steal their deer," you're better off further apart so there's bedding and transitional areas in between.

@@HobbyHarvest really wasn't intending to steal the deer, just trying to figure a movement pattern . Thought food should all be on one side ,meaning should I plant closer to his side or opposite side? I have 90 acres of. Thank you
