Hey guys! Thanks for stopping by. This is the beginning of our Defensive Lever Gun series. It's an 8-part series with an addition 4 videos covering the details of the rifles used in the series.

Great video. I'm 77 and a tag old fashion. I have my lever 357 and S&W mod. 60. One cartage for both. I wish I had all these options when I was younger. Carry on. A lever action is a great firearm.

I just stumbled onto your channel. Just after buying my first lever gun too. I went with the Henry all weather side gate 357. Still waiting for it to ship to my FFL. Definitely gonna watch all your video's. Thanks man

Can't wait to see the whole series. Tactical Lever Guns for Home Defense is an excellent idea. I know we have a a few close at hand for the home and the property. Would not have it any other way. :-)

Brian; With the recent release of the new Ruger-Marlin 1895 SBL are you going to test this and give your opinion on it vs the previous ones? And for Ranger Point Prescision; will this change some of the products that you have that will fit in these new rifles?

They are definitely great options! @Erik Knight, I will do everything I can to get a new one to test and have in my collection. They look like amazing rifles.

@@erikknight8040 As far as we know right now, all of our parts fit the new rifles. We'll be keeping as close as we can to identify any changes where we need to make a new part.

My tactical lever action carbine is the Citadel LevTac 92 in 454 Casull. It is loaded with my hand-loaded rounds using 300 gain Hornady XTP JHP bullets and has a muzzle velocity of 2,030 f.p.s. +/- 18 f.p.s. shot from the rifle. My LevTac 92 is a truely compact 8+1 capacity of one-shot instantaneous short to middle range stopping power.

I have a Marlin CSBL .357 mag and I love that gun. Also have a family hand down Marlin 336 from 78. The 357 mag is all around a brilliant caliber. It’s big enough and in a 16” barrel is enough for a a deer inside 100 yards. But also a great gun to introduce new shooters with because it’s so soft to shoot. Even more so with cross compatibility with .38 special. Along with being used in my wheel gun this makes the perfect combo for effective defence from 2 or 4 legged predators.

I truly believe this will be the best go to rifle for self defense in non free states like NY and CA. Speaking as one of those residents, RIP. Thankfully we got RPP to bring our westerns to the modern age. I’d highly recommend the muzzle break from RPP as well for those same non free states as it greatly enhances your rifle!

How? You use your rifle for home defence here in Oz you will be charged and have your firearms confiscated as you have not complied with your licence reasons for owning.

Wow, great series. Some future videos that would be cool is, as you mention, lever guns make a great suppressor host so a comparison of each suppressed would be interesting. Especially as you reference going to do a 45-70 subsonic video. A discussion of different Ammo choices for each would be interesting as well and where each type of ammo would shine. Last, and this wouldn't be home defense, but a look at different slings would be interesting.

Thank you! Yes, exactly! We have a lot of that in planning. Just have to get ammo together and coordinate things. All of that will be out of pocket for us, so it gets quite expensive. Thanks for watching!

Had a Remington 35 lever action growing up that my dad gave me.... I loved the look and power of it but it lose sight on it after a few shots..... traded it for a .44 mag 15yrs ago.

Probably has been mentioned below, but velocity on the 357 and 44 are from shorter barrels. 200gr XTP from a 16"+ barrel should be somewhere near 1800, maybe even faster.

I love SBR, I have a few, but my concern with the levers is how much ammo, onboard, are you losing with the shortening of the ones to 16.5?

Looking forward to checking out the series. Question for you or anyone else reading this. I have a Henry x model 357 and absolutely hate the recoil pad. It makes the gun feel too long and tends to hang up on my clothing during a fast mount. Do you know if a simple butt plate that will fit the hole pattern and help to reduce the LOP?

Hello, love your super informative videos. I have the Henry x 30-30 and have dressed it in all the Ranger point goodie’s. I run a yankee hill suppressor on it. It’s just too long. Who did you use to cut your Henry’s barrel and magazine tube down to 16.50 inches? I want to send mine off to have that done. Thanks Bill C!

Great video man! I got a question maybe you can help me with. I have the Henry x model 357 and have the RPP handguard and 5in rhino rail. I bought a leupold FXII ultra light 2.5x20. I’ve drove myself crazy trying to find the best scope rings for the job. Is there a few that you can recommend? Thanks for your time and keep up the great work!!

Great question! I have the same rifle, question about the handguard, are you unable to use the front loader with the handguard? If so, any chance you are able to cut a slot in the bottom to access the front loading?

@@adamb2619 you can still use the front loader by removing the brass tube completely and then dropping from the top. The cut out will be covered but it’s still usable by removing completely for dropping in ammo or dumping ammo

If you want qd which is preferable IMO. Larue makes nice qd mounts and rings though you'll need an insert for a 1 inch tube. Which I think come with the rings. They're pricey but very well made. Warne makes good ones that are much cheaper and still work great.

Having a tacticool lever gun is fine and dandy but honestly it isn’t the best home defense firearm for free states. It’s cool. It’s something I’d do for a cool deer gun or a pig gun. But for HD in free states I’ll never run a lever.

"they never killed a (imaginary TREX) ... however 45-70 Garett hard cast have killed basically everything including BULL Elephants ! 405-420 Hard-Cast rounds above 1600fps will kill basically anything it hits it will go forehead to asshole through a grizzly.

In my state, semi-autos are now called “assault weapons”, and sale and transfer have been banned. While it is still legal to use one, my fear would be a Soros DA wanting to make an example of someone using a “banned” gun for self defense. So you survive a home invasion, and then get brutally assaulted by a zealous DA wanting to make an example of you? It would be harder to do that if you use a lever gun.

how large is your house, that you need a scope on a gun for defense?? defender 12 gauge, that's my choice.

LOL We use it to show variation in what's available. With something like a LPVO, if it's all you have, you can leave it on 1X to use it inside. If you have acreage like I do, you can then use it at distance outside as well and still get positive ID on your target.

Thats the most impractical thing I've ever seen. If you're only going to have 6 rounds its better to use a shotgun.

Lol. To each his own. I love my shotgun, but these as well. Plus, have you ever run one of these? Don't knock it until you try it. -Ammo is smaller/lighter, so it's easier to carry more of it. -The gun can easily be a couple inches shorter than a shotgun without a tax stamp. -With the .357/.38, you get 8 rounds. -More variation in cartridge selection for your intended use. -If you can only afford one firearm, and want to use it for hunting as well as home defense, this is a very viable option pretty much anywhere in the country.
