Holy shit. I've been there. No, you guys don't get it. I was so young, and this was so long ago, that I legitimately thought that I had dreamed it. I asked my siblings and parents about it, and they all said "You sure you're not thinking about Disney?" This is absolutely incredible. I remember walking up Spook Hill. This is blowing my mind.

After the beautiful, heartfelt tribute to Jim Henson, I gotta say: I feel like I needed a video like this where you've turned the sass up to 11.

As a fan of Peanuts, it breaks my heart that these corporate decisions often result in the expansion of one beloved character at the expense of another cherished franchise. I adored these books and watching this brought it all back to me. Thank you for giving me that moment to remember when we could visit Camp Snoopy and Bear Country.

I remember the Bears cartoon from the 1980s. I also remember that stranger danger episode that while it was quite controversial for it's time, it really honed into the fact that the series never were shy about the hard issues that kids really needed to know as they grew up. I think at the end of the episode that while there are bad people out there, there are also many good people who would never want to harm you and you should not think of the worst of everyone as a stranger can sometimes be a friend you have not meet yet. But still be wary of people who may want to take advantage of your innocence.

Did anyone wonder why the bears had those names when the rest of the bears in the show had normal names. Because I did.

I'm always so fascinated by the 1980s theme park renaissance and how everything always comes to an end in the 2000s.

I snorted at the bear facts. Loving the increase in humor in the narration, Kevin! I grew up on the Berenstain Bears, so this was another nostalgic one for me!

Kevin getting sassy is giving me huge oldschool Defunctland vibes, and I’m loving it.

I grew up in northern Ohio and would go to Cedar point quite a bit. As a kid, this was one of my favorite things to do! Im so excited that you covered this! It was pure magic! This was always kind of the break time for our parents, so they would eat and relax and my cousins and I would have a blast running around in here. It was absolutely incredible as a kid and was really ahead of its time as far as feeling so immersive. The colors, the detail, the overall feeling.....especially now being older, feels completely made up in my mind. Those memories are as fresh in my mind as they were the day I made them, and think that says a lot about how impactful it was on my mind and imagination. Man... Cedar Point. One of my favorite places on the planet. From my earliest memories of the bears and the pirate ride, choosing what color Gemini we were going to ride, to building up the guts to finally ride The Magnum when I was tall enough, getting on The Raptor for the first time and kicking the sky as many times as I could in a day.........to a cool break above the water on the Iron Dragon, feeling the uncomfortableness of The Mantis, having The Mean Streak beat you up, even though The Corkscrew already did. Cedar point is a truly magical place, I even met a girl on the beach at Hotel Breakers when I was 14.... a whole summer love that lasted a lifetime which all wrapped up into two days. Im so fortunate to have all these memories at this one place. All my memories there feel like a Wonder Years episode...........Look at me.....a regular Kevin Arnold. PS You should cover The Skeloton Train Ride from Cedar Point, it was always really fun

Nicely done -- as someone from Northern Ohio who has visited Cedar Point regularly for almost 50 years, I must say, I miss the simpler days from the park. Too many family rides have been removed to make space for their many awesome coasters. Cedar Point needs to move parking to the other side of the causeway and use the current parking to actually expand the park. Not just for more coasters, but for more areas like this. Camp Snoopy is fine but it does lack the more gentle nature of the Berenstein Bear country. I wish it had still been around by the time my kids were old enough to experience it.

I have a really, really early memory of going to a Berenstain Bears theme park and wandering into an empty-ish treehouse house. I remember seeing some areas walled off with plexiglass, and being very confused. I was convinced this was a dream I had, until I saw this video. The oldest I could have been is about 3 if it closed in 1998.

I was 5 years old when they opened Bear Country in Cedar Point and it was my favorite part of the park. Thanks for the nostalgia trip.

I have one of the saddest memories of the Berenstain Bear country. I was very young, maybe 7 and did not even know that Bernstein Bear country existed, until it was dark, less than an hour from my parents wanting to leave the park. Papa Mama Brother and Sister were nowhere to be found and Bear country was completely empty except for me, not even one other child. I remember sitting in a little rowboat and waiting for something to happen, that never would. By the next time I got to go to cedar point, I was in my early teens, I only got to go about once every five years+ and Bernstein Bear country had been replaced by Camp Snoopy.

As someone who worked at Planet Snoopy in Dorney Park last year, I’m happy to see you finally acknowledge it. The history of the Bearenstain Bear Park was also something that had me curious ever since hearing about it being the replacement for Camp Snoopy.

Hey, this is the first I'm hearing about this! How cute! As a kid I LOVED the Berenstain Bears books we still have (and I always remembered Berenstain because I would sound it out and they were the STAIN Bears--my kindergarten teacher read it as Bernstein!) and my absolute favorite is the No More Junk Food. The pictures of the brightly colored candy, chips, popcorn, and soda, and then their trip to the grocery store to buy fruit and grains and Mama introduced Papa to the drink "called water". That one and the Too Much TV, that was a good one too:)

I grew up with Cedar point. It was my home park. This just brought back a flood of memories. I remember Bear country and remember when snoopy came. Awesome video!

The children's museum that I work at in upstate NY (Strong Museum) has a Berenstain Bears exhibit that seems to basically be a scaled down version of the first Bear Country (now that I know that that was a thing)! They don't have the tree house, but they do have the Boys' and Girls' Clubs, Bear Family Restaurant, Papa's Workshop, Mama's Quilt Shop, a dentist office, and a farm! From what I can tell it's still one of the favorite exhibits in the museum even though it opened with the museum's last expansion in I *think* 2006? Outside the main exhibit they've got statues of the Bear family to take pictures with and a wall that has most (probably all the pre-2006) of the covers of the books on it. It's a pretty cool museum!

The bear facts really put this episode over the top in the best possible way

Cedar Point's Camp Snoopy is in a whole different part of the park. When they brought the Peanuts over to the park, they renamed the Bernstein Bear country to Peanuts Playground till that area was transformed into planet snoopy for the 2008 season. The indoor section was turned into part gift shop Snoopy's Boutique and part playground as well till about 2012 when they walled off the playground due to ADA compliance. Then it was completely taken out when the added Sweet Spot a huge confectionery gift shop; opened in the mid 2010s.

I swear it was Berenstein. I don't entirely buy into the alternate reality idea but I'm pretty sure things were changed when the matrix was updated.

I grew up 45 minutes from Cedar Point and spent sooooo much time in the Berenstein bears section of the park. I remember it had a very distinct smell (not bad just plasticy) and it all came flooding back watching this. I remember being so sad that they announced they were changing it to Camp Snoopy even though I was too old for it by then anyway… Thanks for the trip down memory lane ❤️

I vividly remember playing in the Berenstain Bear house and the dinosaur pit at Cedar Point. I was born in '94 so that must have been in '98. Great video as always!

I worked at Dorney Park the same year that Berenstain Bear Country opened there. I was 18 and worked in a different part of the park, so I never spent much time in it; but I did sweep the walkways in there one night when they were short-handed, and it turned out to be a great place to watch the fireworks. I really have no other memories of it, since non-employees weren't allowed to spend time there if they didn't have small children with them.

Cedar Point Beach Band!! They would always play while you waited for the Imax theater to open up. I visited that Berstain Bear land many times!

I actually remember this. Grew up in Cleveland Ohio and visited Cedar Point once or twice a year. As a kid this was my absolute favorite part of the park. I had completely forgot this place existed. Thanks for some forgotten nostalgia.

I really love the amount of detail in the narration. You even knew what happened during the opening ceremony of Bear Country! I will always appreciate the level of attention in Defunctland (also, I'm glad the trend of earthquake-themed darkrides hasn't died out yet).
