as a demi, i do just wanna say that i can find people attractive but only aesthetically. like i can enjoy looking at them and appreciate their beauty without wanting to bang them. as the second person said, for me it really is just asexuality until i have a strong romantic bond with them. and on an entirely different note, i still struggling with believing my demisexuality makes me lgbtq because i identified as female for most of my life and even though i now know im agender (which alone makes me lgbtq but thats beside the point), i still see myself as "straight" and i did really think i was just picky for the longest time. i was seeing all my peers get into relationships and i thought i was weird because i didnt want one yet.

I dont understand why people who are lgbtq+ hate on other lgbtq+ people just because they don't completely understand another person's label. Its not hurting you or anyone else and using that label probably really helps that person, so they are completely valid. You don't need to understand it because you aren't that, just don't be rude. That's the exact opposite of our agenda. Also the fact that people are calling them fake really shows that they are in fact part of the lgbtq+ community. Is that or is that not exactly what homophobes and transphobes have been doing to other people?

for all the demis like me: You're still demi if you have a high libido. Demi doesnt mean you dont have sexual urges. it means you aint attracted to people until you form a emotional bond to them! (Side note: it is literally a pain to deal with this. and makes it more complicated because you dont see anyone talking about libido. just you dont feel sexual attraction to people. so those like me, who literally questioned their entire existence because they didnt feel a sexual attraction to people the majority of their lives but had a libido, you ain't alone!)

I think I'm demisexual but I am really bad at understanding my feelings it took me ages of questioning if I'm pansexual or not before I finally figured it out. That was actually probably made harder by the fact that I'm probably demi now that I think about it. I don't feel sexual attraction to people until I have known them for a long time and had a significant emotional bond with them. I have a boyfriend now who I am romantically attracted to but still not sexually attracted to and we've been dating for 8 months. I can tell when someone is good looking but I don't feel sexual attraction to them. Same as any straight person can tell if someone of the same sex and gender is good looking but they are not sexually attracted to them. I say this yet I still doubt myself because I don't understand my own emotions half the time! I think I am. I'm pretty sure I am. I say that and then I doubt myself again! Being stuck in questioning is really annoying! Somebody please help.

Before I realised I was demi, I didn't what was wrong with me. I would have some random guy coming to me (i have anxiety so it was awkward for me lol) and we talked for a few days until he ask me on a date. My body went very uncomfortable to the point I over think things lol so I had to refuse. He wasn't a bad guy, he tried his best....well after I said no- But I didn't know him well so it made me feel weird. Thanks for posting this, I struggled all throughout high school with my identity. Honestly, it's still something I'm working out, but I tend to think I fall within Demi or Grey-Ace. I find people aesthetically pleasing, and I have a sex drive but it's not really directed towards any generic person I find "hot", and even though I went on a lot of dates in high school, they always ended fast because I never could tell if what I was feeling was romantic attraction or platonic, and my dates always wanted more than I was ready to give. I never had a crush on anyone until a close friend in college (who is now my bf!). For anyone who thinks it isn't a real struggle- I literally spent so many nights crying myself to sleep thinking I was broken and incapable of loving anyone. I definitely know now that I am capable of (romantic) love, and that romantic love is not the be all end all! For anyone who is afraid that they're broken and going through something similar- if you're worried that you're broken, you're not. I promise.

I go most of my time not feeling anything sexual ever, and then once in a while, once in a blue moon, I get hit with the sexual feels towards a person and then I’m like “Ohhhhohh shit yeah! For the longest time of my entire life I did not understand my sexuality, I never felt any romantic nor sexual attraction towards people, not guys, girls, anyone. People thought I was gay, they thought I was asexual, they kept on telling me what I was and I was confused and believing on what other people pushed on me, simply because I never felt any attraction towards people. I hated it but I also was questioning myself, I just thought that I was concentrating on my studies and wasn’t interested just yet, and that’s what I told everyone all my life. Finally after 19 years I can understand a bit more how I feel, it feels so nice to finally understand why I was so “weird” and why I couldn’t just feel attraction and date people or want to kiss or hold hands. All this things sounded so out of place and scary for me, I would think someone is cute and then question “do I like them?” But then imagining kissing, holding hands and so on was a big no. It takes years for me to develop a romantic attraction, which I felt for the first time in 2019 for my best friend of 6 years. After talking to them almost daily in those 6 years I started feeling a romantic attraction (note that in all those years, I never saw them romantically, only after the 5 years that I finally started feeling something, they confessed to me many times and I shot them down all those years.. I didn’t feel anything then.)

For me, being a demi has been tough. Especially due to my mental health issues and my inability to say "I love you." It makes it harder to get close to certain people now... But I'm doing what I can

7:23 When I tell people I'm autistic and on the spectrum and when I tell people I'm demisexual in both cases, I and others like me are told we're wrong and doubt me. So they kind of would tell you it doesn't exist or yours doesn't exist because people are ableist pieces of crap. Good point, not the greatest comparison. Also just to let anyone who watched this know aspergers isn't used anymore because it was labeled as it's own thing before and considered more separate from autism but it isn't a thing anymore. People are just considered to be on the milder side of the autism spectrum now. Just in case that's helpful to know. Just letting you know so you can be more aware now. Edit: Before I posted this I rearranged some sentences and forgot to delete what I had moved so I fixed that just now.

Demisexual here, after 18 years on this Earth without experiencing sexual attraction to any person at all I discovered I was demi after getting into a relationship with my now boyfriend. It was literally like a switch was flicked, never in my life had I experienced anything like that. I don't really tell people about this character of my sexuality though because I am cis het.
