today is ur lucky day(coming from an aro-ace) there is a jdrama called Koisenu Futari with two main aro-ace characters trying to live as allies/family and then getting slapped in the face with amatonormatovity every second, by colleagues, family, random people. They even use the term aro-ace and their experiences are freaking accurate(probably due to the fact that the show is made by an asexual and takes inputs from real aroaces) Please spread the word cuz canon stuff like these is what matters and makes people feel more valid/accepted.(esp for aroaces )

Have you read the Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo books? One of the characters is canonically ace, and all of what she said made me go: "Holy Schist, I'm ace".

I used to think I was straight, and I had a only one “crush” on a guy in my math class, but then I actually asked myself whether I wanted to do any actual romantic/sexual things with him, and the answer was no, I just wanted to be friends with someone who really enjoys math like me.

I'm an Aroace who started aro, had one extremely abusive relationship and felt every desire disappear overnight . This was during a time when those labels didnt exist so saying I wasnt interested even decades later, is STILL being called a mental illness. Glad to know the label DOES exist. I'm AroAce and that relationship was a disaster pretty much from day one. There is no conflict between my orientation and my mental disorder. Im sure the two are NOT connected. I was Aro, long before my disorder kicked in. Sorry guys but it was here first!

I have some questions, asexual to me was I thought you didn't want to participate in any sexual interaction, like kissing, sex, or stuff like that, but hugging and just cuddling is different. You still feel attraction, but not sexual attraction. Is this right?

@@bugadoodledoo1394 It's not an internal, inherent drive to have sex for asexuals. Some are more sex favorable, where sex is something they're willing to compromise on, but they don't feel like they need it and would be just as happy to never have it in their life. Or some might want other things, like children, so they're willing to have sex for that goal, but they don't want the sex itself. It's more about the lack of an internal, inherent desire to sexually connect with another person that makes one ace, not necessarily that they'd never participate.

i think one of the funniest parts of being aroace is having people guess your sexual/romantic orientation because im arocae and have known/heard way too many people who think im gay or bi because i like rainbows and kinda act like a bi person (which i somewhat am, im biromantic, and the easiest way to describe is that i'm aro, but if i ever fell in love i wouldn't mind if it was a girl or a boy. im never having sex tho so don't get me started on that). haha, no, im aroace

This video made me emotional, I'm on a journey to try and understand if I'm aro/ace and this videos made me feel understood and seen, because understanding that asexuality and aromanticism is a spectrum and everybody can have a different experience is making me emotional in a good way because I feel like this is helping me finding myself. It's hard to understand if you have never or partially felt something.

There are times I get self courses and think "I'm just doing it to get attention" or "Maybe I just haven't met them yet" but I relate to literally everything they listed. I’ve been questioning if I’m on the aromatic spectrum lately. I think I only genuinely crushed on someone once. All my other relationships or “crushes” were forced or obsession, not real attraction. I’ve only recently started coming to terms with this, but it’s really difficult. I don’t feel normal, I want to feel attraction like everyone else does and I hate that I can’t

This feel amazing sometimes to just look up your sexuality and just feel validated. Growing up I felt pressured to just get a life with a different family (kids, husband or wife), but I didn't want that. My mom makes it seem like it'll be lonely without them when I'm okay with just friends.(I'm aromatic/ageosexual)

Hi just gonna share my expirence and identity I'm an aegosexual orchidromantic! Which means i can enjoy sexual things i myself love Yaoi but i myself don't want to have sex ever with anyone! Orchidromantic for me is that i feel romantic attraction but- "HEY THE WHOLE POINT OF AROMANTIC IS THAT THEY EXPIRENCE LITTLE TO NO ROMANTIC ATTRACTION!" Well yes but no... let me finish what i was saying! But i don't have a strong desire or need to have a romantic relationship i don't care for such things or i just feel netural to the whole idea! i don't care either way! However what i do care about is building a pokemon team of awesome people and spending my life with this friend group i don't care if i like them romantically or not that changes nothing! I have no desire or need for a romantic realationship by that i mean no kissing and all that other stuff it's romantic by status and status only! it's the opposite of a queerplatonic relationship! just like orchidromantic is the oppisite of cupidoromantic :)

A lot of my friends just say “she doesn’t date people.” Whenever we are talking about dating and stuff and it sucks because most of them think I just don’t want to be in a relationship when I’m reality I can’t force myself to love people that way. The end sorry I needed to get that out of my head Also the other day my friend asked me out and it was over the phone and I sat there dead silent for a good 30 seconds waiting for her to say it’s a joke. When she didn’t I hung up the phone. Turns out it was a dare so it’s ok now lol

During the early years of primary school my friends started doing that cute thing of having a crush on someone in our year, probably because barbie mentioned it in a movie or something, and my friends had their secret crushes. I didn’t want to feel left out so I kinda just picked a random guy and said to myself “I will have a crush on him”. It’s probably insignificant but looking back I think it’s a clear point in my childhood which indicates that I was at least Aromantic. I also only wanted to marry a prince because my friends did and it would’ve made me a princess

I usually watch Aro/Ace tiktoks on days when I have internalized aphobia. If anyone else has those days I have a suggestion to watch a bunch of aro/ace compilations in cartoons or surrounding a character. Saiki K. from "The Disastrous Life of Saiki K." is a really nice one since he's the main character. Just know that when you feel internalized aphobia, you're not alone in your feelings. Just know that you're loved by those surrounding you and you don't need romance to be loved. Sending platonic hearts! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

THE PEOPLE REACTING TO ME BEING AROACE IS SO TRUE Story time... I was sat in lesson and the person sat next to me said are you attracted to boys or girls (totally out of the blue) because everyone thinks I am gay. I was tired and lacked of sleep so, without thinking said neither. They looked at me and said, oh so your attracted to non-binary people then (they said whilst looking at me in disgust) and i sleepily replied No im just not attracted to anyone (which i instantly regretted saying) and they replied THATS NIT NATURAL, YOU SHOULD REALLY GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THEN CARRIED IN RAMBLING ABOUT 'HOW IT WASN'T NORMAL'. THEY ABSOLUTELY RUINED MY DAY.

I'm not sure why this frustrates me so much but can I just clarify: being asexual does not mean you don't want to date; it means you do not want to have s-x. You can still be attracted to people if you are asexual. If you feel like you don't want to date or have s-x, you are aroace (asexual & aromantic) Aromantic means you don't want a romantic relationship but still might want to have s-x with someone while having no feelings toward them. I was raised in a family that ranges from homophobic to "I'm not homophobic, it's just I don't like gays shoving their bedroom activities in my face." In this family, one of my younger cousins came out as lesbian, which earned reactions on a scale of "confused" to "was she sexually abused?" I had only known about being gay for maybe three years, didn't know about other identities beyond gay and straight, was still kinda homophobic but starting to be an ally, and CERTAINLY didn't have any education that said romantic and sexual attraction were different. However, my reaction was to (internally) defend her by saying maybe it wasn't sexual attraction (she was maybe 10 when she came out, so I figured it wasn't ) maybe she only wants relationships with girls. In other words, I really, REALLY should have figured out I was aroace sooner than I did.

3:09 BROOO SAME. im lesbian oriented aroace too. it’s really confusing to talk about and just generally confusing for us too. i remember telling my friend that i had a “crush” on her but not exactly a crush but also some type of crush (it’s a long story but it was valentine’s day and my other friend told me she liked the same friend i liked and she liked her back. so no my friend didn’t like me but whatever lol). i don’t think either of them really understood completely tho because later they were confused about it so yeah lol edit: 8:00 the amount of oriented aroace people in here already makes me so happy

I have a friend... They claimed to be pan, but because I sorta felt the same for guys as for girls I decided I'd be bi. BUT I feel the same for non-binary people too? But I didn't wanna copy them so I stuck with bi. Now a few years ago they confessed they're ace, right at the time I was questioning if I were aro. I am still not out if I really am, probably somewhere on the spectrum. All I do know is that these kind of videos make me laugh and comfort me a lot.

To the last tiktok- do the creators who labeled the characters asexual know what asexual even means(cuz they did it to avoid talking further about their sexuality)?? like asexual just means u have no sexual attraction, so the characters could be gay/bi/pan etc while being ace(cuz aces feel romantic attraction). Yep it's more so used to just not have to say they have attraction. Also immediately denies any queer identities for them. It's 100% okay if a character is aroace, but people should atleast know what they're doing and they shouldn't misuse the label

I know nobody asked, but sense some people get confused on how aromantic people have “crushes”, let me explain! (I’m aroace so don’t come at me- ik what I’m talking about) Aromatic is a spectrum, meaning you could be not completely aromantic (such as greyromantic or aroflux) however that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about when an aro person feels “romantic” attraction towards another person. When a complete aro feels “attraction” to another. It’s usually either platonic or aesthetic attraction, which is mistaken for romantic attraction. A lot of aros also select people to like because it’s what society calls “normal”. For I personally, I have mistaken gender envy for a crush and I’ve selected someone to like because I thought I wouldn’t be normal if not. Either way society pressures love onto everyone. and when others can’t feel that kind of love, it makes you feel out of place or lonely. But you’re not alone! Anyways I hope this helps!
