This is KZfaq gold. A young couple doing their first home remodel. The arguments and cussing that will ensue. Can’t wait for part 2! I’m sure it will be wonderful once it’s complete. Good Luck!

I can tell Chet isn't a fan of wood floors, but I honestly love wood floors. They are very beautiful. My grandmother's house has the rare thin boards and they are original to the house. I vote for wood floors in every room, but the bathroom and bedrooms lol.

I have been watching the farming videos for a long time and never knew this channel existed, binge watching your channel really makes me see that Chet is the same goofy character that he is on the farming channel.

My sisters 100+ yr old house has finished hardwood around the edges of rooms but the centre wasn’t finished because rugs were there. She had all the floors and stairs refinished and they did put a finish on the Centers but of course they’d never matchup so she found old rugs with the canvas backing , turned them over, painted them and stencilled a simple design on them.

You guys should look into installing a ductless split ac system upstairs. My window units didn't nearly work as well as the split system. Only took me a weekend to install and I saved a good chunk on my electric bill. Keep up the good work!

The work will be well worth it by the covience of the upstairs bathroom. I'm with Chet on the whole making a mess in the house thing. A messy house bothers me as well . Nice video stay safe and keep on keeping on my friends !

Hardwood floors are AMAZING! So quiet to clean, none of that noisy vacuum cleaner. Just grab a throw rug, roll it up and out the door to shake it out.

Wrecking a perfectly good house is traumatic but worth it. My wife and I spent twenty years redoing our house. It sucks while you're in the middle of it but you will look back on it and realize it was one of the best times of your life.

You have opened a big can of worms! It never goes as good as its planned, keep a positive outlook. I feel for you. Good luck.
Oh Chet, you should do this in a house that’s over a hundred years old. And during bean harvest. Not that I planned a kitchen and bath reno during haying and then harvest, but it kinda took longer than expected. There’s lots of surprises in old farm houses. And dust. And more dust.

Festool makes a great random orbital sander with the best dust collected on the market. It will help you control dust as you are sanding furniture. It’s pricy but worth the investment.

Tech tip. For removing baseboard use a stiff putty knife or 5 in one to start. It’s thinner than pry bar and will do less damage.

Since your project is going to be on going you may want to check out Zip Wall system available in paint dept.at Menard's. It involves telescoping poles that hold plastic in place and zippers in door ways. Works great for dust control and allowing easier access in and out of work area.

Find a good floor guy. They can patch any areas needed, then refinish the floors. Be thankful they put in carpet because it protected the wood floors. If Chet doesn't like walking on (cold) wood floors, just put in oriental carpets. The inexpensive machine made ones are not expensive. Look nice too. I always rip out the carpet and refinish the floors. Gets rid of a lot of dust and allergens that are hiding in and under the carpet. Wood floors are easy to get and keep clean. If you're careful you can salvage the flooring from where the bathroom will go and use that for patching. But a good wood floor guy knows where to get matching material or will have some laying around. Put cement board on the bathroom floor with tile. When you do the bath or shower don't forget the tarpaper, then cement board, then tile; the tarpaper lips into the edge of the tub. (Don't put the showerhead too low, people are taller now because our parents fed us better!)

To make Toby coat shine in his food add 2 tablespoons of peanut butter . Watch him wait for you to feed him again, a lot of dog hunters feed their dogs this way to save money on dog food. I like your videos, I always giveyou & larson farms a thumbs up.

Man, he whines a lot lol. Has Chet ever heard of slippers? vs carpet, then you could expose all of the nice hardwood. Carpet is terribly unhealthy to have in your home. It just soaks up dust and then you breathe it in. Fun project looking forward to part 2.

Most of my house is hardwood. Carpet in the spare bedrooms. I really don't like carpet myself.
@deaddoll13613 жыл бұрын
Houses from 100 years or more ago had wooden floors and rugs, partly because vacuum cleaners hadn't been invented yet, like mose electrical appliances. They'd drag the rugs outside and beat them for cleaning, and having done a few myself, I can vouch for the thereaputic benefits a good rug beating can bring.
