It feels weird being the only comment on a comment section but I just wanted to come here and thank you for this wonderful video. I'm in full panic mode right now cause I have to create a script for two topics within the weekend. One of those topics is illness. I chose mental illness because I thought that would be an interesting topic to tackle and I decided to focus on depression specifically cause many people are diagnosed with depression in my country. I had know idea how to execute it until I found this video and I focused on the woman and I tried to imitate her mannerisms and behavior as a moderator and she really helped me. ^^ I observed the guests as well and how they behaved, how they introduced themselves and all that stuff. Just to let you know, I didn't copy this video word for word but the dialogue I wrote imitated the style of their words and how they brought up topics, introduced the guests, asked questions and explained stuff along with what I had researched online. Not only did I find great this video a great help in writing my script for my group project (Aah I hate group projects) but this panel discussion didn't feel boring or like presidential news debate thingies I always find on other videos like this. I found this topic interesting and I found myself lost in watching it instead of observing the stuff I should keep in mind when writing my script. I stopped focusing on my project because my mind was so immersed in the discussion. I'm definitely gonna keep this in mind if I find someone battling depression in the future. ^^ Again, thank you so muuuch for this~ 💗

I’m so depressed and anxious over a family situation. Having suicidal thoughts. I have a history of depressive episodes. This one seems to be the worst. I’m a Christian and my only times of relief are because of my faith. Ironically, my heartache and depression is caused by a non-believing daughter-in-law.

Depression isnt new or unique. Depression has been around for as long as humans have existed. What people forget is that life has never been easier. The majority of people nowadays will tell you life is extremely difficult for youth today, but what they forget is that humans have never had more ease. If you compare life today to life a thousand years ago the difference would be colossal. Today we dont have to hunt for food, we dont have to live in caves for shelter, we dont have to suffer from extremes of temperature, were less likely to die from illnesses, we dont have to travel for months in horse and carriage. Life is extremely easy and yet suicides are on the rise. What humans excel at is struggling. We are extraordinary at dealing with pressure and hardship, you only have to take one look at history to know thats true. I say to anyone who is suffering from depression and a lack of purpose, the best thing to do is to do more. Get involved in a worthy struggle. Take on more responsibility and shoulder more stress, just make sure that its positive stress and not negative. (To name a few: Regular physical exercise and sports, career and hobby goals, learning new skills, taking care of the home and environment). Workouts are especially important; to endure pain in the gym does great benefits to your body as well as your mind. “If a man can find meaning in a concentration camp - where he has been imprisoned for no wrongdoing of his own. Where there is no end in sight - then we can find meaning in our daily lives where we think none exists” Dont let depression kick your ass and dont use depresssion as an excuse not to live. Get after it
