The best and most informative tutorial about parallel depth bevel gears on the whole internet. Thanks a lot. I have a question about the depth of cut. How do you come to 5.5mm? Should the depth of teeth be equal to a spur gear with the same module? (which is 2.25 * m)

Thank you very much. But hypoid bevel gears are beyond the scope of hobby engineers. Hypoid gears need very special industry machines.

Thank you for the great explanation for cutting bevel gears 👍. I needvto cut a new bevel gear for my schaublin milling machine. The only difference is that it's not a parallel depth tooth but the depth of the tooth is deeper at the big outer radius . I like to ask where i can find the information on how to calculate the information for the 2nd and 3rd cut , specially the offset and the number of holes for the 2nd and 3rd cut. Thanks for any help and sharing these great videos 😀👍

What is the disadvantage of parallel depth bevel gears? Why don't all bevel gears have parallel depth teeth?
@prof-rieg
@prof-rieg 3 жыл бұрын
Parallel depth bevel gears can only produced by special machines not by - as shown here - universal milling machines.
@SunilSundar
@SunilSundar 3 жыл бұрын
@@prof-rieg I think you have misunderstood me sir. The gears you made in the video have parallel depth teeth (the tops and bottom of the teeth are parallel) My question is: is there any disadvantage to parallel teeth depth bevel gears like the ones you made? Why aren't parallel teeth depth bevel gears used in industry? Why bother making tapered teeth depth bevel gears like the ones made on Gleason and Klingelnberg machines?

Hello, at minute 17.41 the formula emerges which allows you to mill the tooth in the right way, by rotating the divider (in one direction or the other) and lowering or raising the table .... Is the formula correct? s=((m*z)/2)*sin(90/z) B=360°/(z*4) ?

At last a well explaining video .... super!!! I still have one question. The depth of cute is 5,5mm. How do you come to this number? Is it (2 x m) + a little space ... 0,5mm??? Greetings from Flanders - Belgium

Aluminium seems an unusual material for gears? Did you use this material for demonstration purposes?
@prof-rieg

Yes, this aluminium alloy is only for demonstration purposes. In reality, you would use hardened steel.

Good evening, when we talk about the second gear, the formula applied to calculate daa is = da1+2*b*tan§ ......but b=12 where does it come from? How is it calculated? Thank you.

b is chosen by you i.e. by the designer.

Good evening. I have seen the video and I have some questions. The second gear is Modulo 2.5. Is the cutter used always 2.5? Being a bevel gear, the module varies. Is the module measured at the front of the tooth or the back of the tooth? After the first pass, two more are made, one raising the board and one lowering the board by 1.96mm, and turning first to the right and then to the left by 3°. Where do 1.96mm and 3° come from, what formula does it use? Thanks in advance for the replies.

But I still have a doubt about how to choose the module cutter. Help
@prof-rieg
@prof-rieg Жыл бұрын
Yes, regarding modern bevel gears made by factories the module varies. In this video, a very old procedure is used which was common in times of the first world war. Here the module corresponds to the inner diameter. For further informations please consult the book of Ivan Law "geras and gear cutting".
@FedeGiannetti
@FedeGiannetti Жыл бұрын
@@prof-rieg Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I'm studying the formulas shown in the video... but I can't understand why the internal diameter is 42mm and the external one is 54mm. According to the standard formulas, the external diameter should be 42mm and the internal diameter approximately 39mm. Also, I've watched the whole movie several times, but I don't understand how b=12 is calculated.
