I enjoyed the original Destiny for what it was. Sure, it had *A LOT OF PROBLEMS*, but I actually really enjoyed it. Destiny 2 is incredibly mediocre though. I had no desire to even complete the raid. Plus, the difficulty. I REACHED THE MAX POWER LEVEL WITHOUT COMPLETING THE RAID. Keep that in mind.

Frustratingly Average, Repetitive, and Dull ? So a perfect example of a standard AAA game. Good AAA games are the likes of Deus Ex:Mankind Divided, Witcher 3, XCOM2, DOOM, etc. Those games that actually do something different. A half finished shooter with the same guns as always, with an added grindfest, pretty graphics and tons of monetization is the standard lazy sales pitch that AAA developer's executive meeting will approve immediately. The first questions I ask as I see a new game announcement are: Does it show actual gameplay that is available to the public ? Does said gameplay innovate in any significant way ? For most AAA games, normally both get a resounding no, you get the feeling its a standard package made with a cake recipe, repackaged with a super expensive presentation and optimized to bleed customer's wallets dry.

I may have been second, but SJW's tell me i can identify as being first. I agree with your points- today I had a disagreement with my friend because I said I had 500 hours in TF2. he said "500 hours to many". When I brought up that he has played 1000 hours of a dull, repetitive and down-right boring game with a story equivelant to that of a brick. He had no comeback.

How to make a good Destiny game: Go back to the 10 or so ViDocs before the launch of Destiny 1. Put all of that promised content into a game. Then, you've got a good Destiny game. In fact, you have a great game, period. Why pay for a Destiny game that isn't the one we were promised before Destiny 1?

Honestly, it's just sad and disappointing to see that even a free to play game (warframe) is at least three times better than destiny, which is a AAA game, which is ~£60. Edit: this is probably because bungie doesn't care about their game as much as DE does theirs.

my interest for Destiny 2 died right when they cared to mention that there‘s going to be „new gear, new planets and new subclasses“ in it. Idk, but when I think of a sequel of a game that had gear, planets and subclasses in it, would it not be some kind of prerequisite that this sequel has new gear, planets and subclasses?and then I thought to myself: if this is how they‘re going to advertise their sequel, there is no way it could spark any of my interest. Considering everything, Destiny is very likely to be going down the CoD hole.

Some thoughts to add: In Vanilla Destiny 1, nightfalls didn't have timers, and were solo-able with some strategy. The "Guided Games" isn't a multiplayer replacement, but a clan recruitment program. There is no matchmaking for either the nightfall or the raid(which does require a fireteam), meaning there is NO multiplayer for the nightfall or raid. Besides those points, I agree with you. I bought Destiny 2 expecting a step up from Destiny 1's last expansion, and was instead greeted with a game as broken if not more broken than the first games vanilla installment, just with loot dropping in droves as opposed to in droplets and some better art and framerates(pc).

Honestly the fact that you can get gear easier, is a good reason why the game is bad. It leaves little to grind for at endgame. And honestly I'm not a fan of the Nightfalls, substituting much of stress of just completing the Nightfall. And I'm not much of a PvP player, but I can say, that the PvP in D2 is pretty bad in comparison to D1.

They should let us pick up alien's guns, use more then 1 exotic weapon/armor at once, had a LFG in game, more strikes, and more enemy types, more melee weapons, another guardian class... Want more? I could go on and on lol. Hopefully we get 1 of those in destiny 3, which should come out soon if history shows us anything.

And the PVP is horrible. Hold hands with teammates and shoot. Any chance of making awesome plays is gone...which existed in Destiny 1. Also, everything is 4x4 and you cannot choose which game type you want to play. Complete trash.

This game in year 1, especially with curse of osiris, felt completely disgusting. I'm so glad that bungie left Activision and has done everything with their power to redeem destiny after the disgusting first year.

It's even sadder when you know that custom games were available in Destiny 1, and the crucible had 6v6, but they changed it for esports appeal.

If some how CDProjektRed had created Destiny, we would have the game we were promised without DLC scams and microtransations.

I hadn't played Destiny 1, just tried 2 as it's free on PS plus, and got about an hour in and completely lost interest, we've seen it all before in games, I'd be extremely pissed if I'd paid money.

Back to Borderlands

As someone who adores the Halo franchise for its story and world building Destiny never appealed to me as I knew that its story was so damn awful and if there isn't a good story why even bother with wanting to know the world and settings.

As someone who still plays avidly (taking a huge hiatus before Curse of Osiris came out, and only coming back here and there until Season of Arrivals) I can say it has only really gotten marginally better. It's still about shooting, but the story telling has gotten better. Granted, it's not really gotten... Good, per se. It's still hit or miss. For instance, I think Season of the Splicer (current season as of writing this) has been generally well written... For a Destiny story. But I thought season of the Chosen was hot trash that a lot of people thought was good for some reason. The worst part of Destiny is easily the community though. It filled with people who have set their expectations so low that anything marginally good is seen as amazing. And crucible is... It's just awful.

Little did we know just how much worse Destiny 2 would get.

Battleborn's advertisment campain was handled way better than destiny and Destiny2's existance.

I got destiny 2 but I only played the first mission and I was already done with it. It's just fucking boring it takes to long to level up and its dull as hell. I still play D1 to this day and I enjoy crucible on D1 more.

Im srry i cant do it anymore! Soooooooo boring even w the new dlc. I got it free w season pass and tried doing 3 days to get through the dlc just to experience it and the only thing i could think was maybe it will get better? Nope more bore after bore.....its a challenge 2 try n get through it w all its lame dlc w no soul to it.

The funniest part is that D2 hasn't changed at all in its core gameplay loop in 6yrs. It was trash then and is still trash.

CyberPunk 2077 has this same type of issue it has nothing to do other than the story and it's less glitchy and buggy but it's basically a David Cage game.
