For anyone interested in the Toro f700 cause its so cheap there is a mod to make the 4" to a 3". If you get it at home depot go to the plumbing department and p/u a 4" to 3" coupler (can also p/u a 4" to 2") ...fits like a glove and narrows the blow force to what I personally think 3" is the perfect end for a QUICK CAR DRYER. You can grab it for under $6....😎😎

CFM is mostly proportional to the strength of the motor, while MPH depends on both CFM and the nozzle diameter. Larger nozzle diameters means lower MPH. If we are talking about leaves, high CFM means you can move a lot of leaves at the same time. But high MPH makes it easier to move things that require a lot of force to move, like leaves that are stuck. Extreme case would be a super powerful unit but with a giant nozzle, so super high CFM super low MPH, then you would move all your dry loose leaves in a second but all your wet stuck leaves would never move at all. Drops on a car don't need a lot of force to move, so MPG is much less important than CFM.

A few stubborn straggler leaves on the lawn is a good thing. Decomposing leaves are great for the soil and lawn so don't fret over getting every single last leaf. I would go with the more CFM.

By reading comments from others below where you can add reducers to increase MPH, would it affect the motor in any way since you are restricting the flow, therefore adding stress on the motor? It may create overheating or other problems where it would it break sooner?

I just ordered the Worx Turbine 800.. 135 mph, 800 CFM. Yields 108,000 cleaning units. Found it for 59 USD! With this, I should be able to dry my car just fine without worrying about scratching the paint. Get everything nice and dry, and then put on a topper to add a bit of protection. Thanks for the great information!

The 260 mph is achieved by compressing the air, there by displacing the water drops. The other moves a greater volume of air but the air isn't compressed. It's volume vs rate of flow. Bottom line is, you're not going to dry the water drops from the surface, you're going to displace them from the surface. At a max of 260 mph you going to have more turbulence in the nooks and crannies like your mirrors. Good video BTW.

I feel like I hit the sweet spot, I got the ego 765 cfm 200 mph blower. Waiting for my stubby nozzle to come in so I can give it a right proper test run. But first use and impressions with the stock nozzle. I like it. It cut my drying time down at least in half, And it got my wheels and tires completely dry. Got the drip zones really good and up by the hood where the water pools at the bottom of the windshield. It is loud as heck tho, I'd recommend wearing ear plugs.

Got the WORX WG520 yesterday October 14, 2022, and used it today Oct. 15, and does a mediocre job. Washed my car today and using the WORX WG520 made water beads very small and plentiful. Took me 20 minutes to blow dry my new 2022 Honda Civic Touring, built on September 2022 (date of mfg on the driver door side) and received from a Honda dealership on October 4, 2022, with 2 miles. I bought the blower to avoid getting watermarks or streaks. It does blow leaves very well, but not so good for drying a car. I duct-taped a microfiber cloth around the plastic tip so an accidental touch on the car paint would not leave a scratch. The WORX WG520 is very light, the air intake will suck your tee shirt when close to it. I think suction is better than it blows. The Ryobi 730 CFM 40V Blower could be better because it has 130 CFM more than the WORX WG520 600 CFM. For $55 plus add sales tax, you are better off spending $90 to $120 for a much better product. You get what you pay for! The WORX WG521 is said to be 800 CFM you could try it. WORX WG520 not recommended as a car dryer. Plan on getting a battery-powered unit because dragging around an electrical cord is a nuisance and you don't have to worry about becoming electrocuted after washing your car. Safety First!

The one thing you missed with the second one was how well it dried. You mentioned the first one left tiny little drop, which I get as well. How did the roof come out? Did it dry it completely or were there still tiny dropless left that you have to wipe off? Thanks.

Multiplying the CFM and the MPH together is much more useful than looking at either alone. To effectively push water off a car you want as much CFM and MPH as possible. Honestly, I like a raw force measurement better such as newtons or pounds. This will take in to account both the CFM and the MPH. Many of the more reputable brands now list this measurement especially on larger units. CFM and MPH used separately is pretty useless. It is like saying what is more important CFM or PSI on an air compressor or what is more important GPM or PSI on a pressure washer. They are both important and the most effective is the unit that has the highest combination of both.

I just bought a Stihl BG86 gas blower and it's got like 400 CFM and 150 MPH or something like that. I did my whole yard with not a problem, only it couldn't really move the piles once collected. Even though my yard is done and only used this $300 machine one time, I am so tempted to buy the Worx Turbine 800 CFM out of morbid curiosity. I would literally have to rake some leaves out of the woods back into a pike, just for the sake of seeing how it co pares moving the piles. Because if it's that much better, I could try and sell the Stihl one I bought and pocket some cash, since the Worx 800 is less than $100. Am I crazy and should I just let my current obsession over leaf blowers pass? Or do I bite the bullet and possibly lose money for the thrill?

I’m REALLY hoping that you’re wearing hearing protection while using those blowers. I have both and they are both VERY dangerous to your hearing long run. Especially indoors. On a different note, both work great for me. I always use the finer nozzle on them in order to concentrate flow. In conjunction with the higher airflow, lowering the coefficient of friction by ceramic coating really helps. I also use a rubber edge on them to prevent mishaps from making contact accidentally.

Good info on the mph vs. cfm comparison. I’ve got the Toro two in one blower and it’s a great machine for yard work. But since I regularly use the mulching function, I wouldn’t use it to dry my car. With the mulching function, you’re drawing dirt, leaves, small sticks and even small rocks into the machine. Most of that goes into the mulching bag, but when you switch to the blower, there’s a risk that you’re going to launch any remaining dust and debris right onto the freshly washed car at high MPH. And if you’re not using the mulching function, why pay for it? I’d stick to a regular blower for car work.

If you use Electricity as an analogy Voltage is equivalent to MPH (Pressure) and Amperage is equivalent to the CFM...(Volume). So to calcule which one is better it's the MPH x CFM= Power (your winner) so basically it's almost the same for both unit...you should be happy for both.

@@Gave-rf1hr no. You need to prevent air drying. The blower will speed up drying, so use a towel.
