The main character looks like a cross between Duke Nukem and Lo Wang, two of the most over the top fps characters of all time. He should be fighting aliens or demons or something, not regular ass soldiers!

This game reminds me of other bad games reviewed on this channel. The overly delayed publish/release date (Duke Nukem Forever), the contrived storyline filled with vague and unnecessary exposition in an attempt to buildup lore (The Order: 1886 and Drake of the 99 Dragons), the messy hybrid combat style (Ride to Hell: Retribution), unbalanced insta-kill enemies (Rambo: The Video Game), and an over the top concept that takes itself way too seriously (Hunt Down the Freeman and The Quiet Man).

That whole thing with Big Mouse being talked about in spite of being dead since the start of the game made think of something. I bet it would really be funny if there was this guy that was being hyped up as the main villain of the game, but you then find out that you killed him as the tutorial boss.

Won't lie, if this actually had a cohesive story, it'd be a cool setting. In my opinion there aren't that many games that touch on the metal gear-esq type of setting with modern military and fantastical elements.

What would a sequel for Devil's Third even be called? Devil's Third Two? Devil's Fourth? Angel's First? Devil's First? Maybe Devil's Third the Squeakquel?

This game wants to be Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance but without including the fun game play, memorable characters, awesome soundtrack, or pretty much anything that made Rising good.

Looking back, this game tried way too hard to be Metal Gear Rising.

When I played this game, I encountered a hilarious glitch where the model for the IL2 Sturmovic (the Russian ground attack plane that Ivan flys yet you don’t ground attack in) didn’t load. This left me laughing in the floor, watching Ivan fly around in his invisible plane though as if he was inspired from Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy’s invisible car from Spongebob!

12:04 I genuinely thought African Guy's name was "Grundle Saha". That would be a MUCH more intimidating name than "Ivan".

Also, they say MOST of the electronic equipment, not ALL of it otherwise it would be complete anarchy and no communication.

I remember reading about this on a really small article on GameInformer and saw the reveal trailer. I was pretty excited for it, but never heard anything since then. I assumed it was unofficially cancelled, but then I saw some E3 footage in 2014, which lit up my excitement once again. I even bought a WiiU just to get my hands on the game (and Bayonetta 2), and sure enough it was underwhelming to say the least. I dunno, I kinda wished the game kept the art style and gameplay from the reveal trailer from E3 2010.

I find it funny how the main character Ivan never wears a shirt. I guess he's trying to show off his cool tattoos but still. That's doesn't really make him look threatening.

Maybe get the game right first before even thinking about doing other things with it. The fact that the story has more holes than swiss cheese because they were going to elaborate on it more in mangas and animes is stupid. That kind of stuff should never be required to understand a story but to elaborate on it further.

As bad as this game was, it does have some pretty decent weapon models.

This video is awesome! Great job! I feel like games like this are too proud of their IP. Trying to make a multi-media franchise that has comics, a tv show, action figures, etc. before you know if it’s even successful is just too ambitious. Cheetahmen (action 52), Drake of the 99 Dragons, and this game all tried to do this and none of them worked. Making a good game should always come before the other stuff that you’re hoping to make money on. Anyway, I love your videos! Can’t wait for the next one, but can you do more good game reviews? I enjoy listening to your rants, but I like your positive vids too.

Having just beaten Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, I came back to this video to reflect on something. This is basically MGR, but with none of the charm or care put into it. I mean like you said about Big Mouse, it'd be like fighting Armstrong first, then fighting all the way back to Metal Gear Ray. Granted that would be awesome considering that game's bosses are phenomenal (Well, Sundowner can be a pushover if you don't get rid of his shields) but then again, the characters aren't memorable or even meme-worthy here, with the exception of maybe Ivan but I dunno. And another thing, while yes MGR does tackle themes such as the nature of war and stuff, it embraced the outlandish and ridiculous premise it had, unlike Devil's Third which as you said tries way too hard to be serious while trying to be goofy as hell. Plus it doesn't have RULES OF NATURE or "Memes...The DNA of the Soul".

Honestly Nintendo should have taken up development and just scrapped everything and made it an online game with some plot like Siege. That would have been better.

Great review man, you continue to improve with each new video! I have any actual good game to recommend for you to play (and maybe review), Jadow. The 2014 reboot/remake of Strider, it's a great that very metroid-vania and offers a decent degree of fast pace challenge. It is availible on both PC (Steam) and PS4 for $15.

i'll give credit some of this looks like dumb fun.

Adding the qui in Yanqui allows them to avoid censorship from certain boards as Yankee can be considered a slur. It's the same reason Marvel cocs used Paqui in the Captain America comics when they did Cap's solo Civil War storyline. I'm hoping that's the reason anyway.

This game just had a baby with Deadly Premonition - "Wanted Dead" is obviously the child of this game. Even the sword combos are practically the same.

Not gonna lie, I was one of those people that actually asked for it. Not because of the producer's reputation, mind you, but because I'm absolutely in weird, obscure-as-hell Nintendo-published games. By the way, the online multiplayer was absolutely fantastic. In fact, I thought it was the best on the Wii U, even above Splatoon. Too bad the online servers have been shutdown since late 2016.

In other words, I think Ludmilla is working off the same suit principle as Black Widow: sexy, yet practical. ...why am I trying to justify things in Devil's Third? Also, Devil's Third actually has a Wiki (I know, I was surprised too), and I went there to look up Jane Doe (don't ask), and I want to say right now: Jane Doe as a character is not necessarily a BAD idea. I'm not just saying that because she's hot (though that help), but the idea of a genetically enhanced seductress trained in assassination arts could work so much better in a completely different game then this one.

I think I did the crime and re-played this game way more then I should. This was because I was poor, young with a Wii U and Devils Third interested me. So I played the game around 10 time... And that is not an exaggeration. I have matured a lot, and I decided to replay the game, this is what I have to say. I disagree that the game has bad combat, it's pretty fun and it reminds me a lot of Space Marine, which is a better game if you're after a title with range/melee combat. Pretty much that but with parkour. The story is bad, like really bad. I still can't make sense of it. So you're definitely not wrong there. The main problem isn't the controls, it's mainly got to do with the linearity, IGN says it pretty well with "the game would be forgiving if there was more ways to engage combat" and there was only one section I recall that does it pretty well when you're at the Japanese theme'd level and you have to hold off against enemy ninjas that attack at multiple areas, and with the buildings, it finally clicked... Just sadly that only happened for 5mins until the next part which repeated the repetitive format that which should be the main criticism. The multiplayer was fun as hell... Shame it was pay to win like games that had that structure at the time.

I have seen other walkthroughs on this game and I did see that the other weapons besides the sword do different stuff im just guessing that the sword you get at the start of the game is meant to be for that one section and the developers expected you to switch between melee weapons

I never played the single player game but when the multiplayer was active the balance between close combat and firefights was surprisingly good. There was going to be a multiplayer only release on the PC; Did that ever get released?

I feel so bad for Itagaki.....dude made 9.0/10 over and over again since the Dead or Alive days and once he left to make his own game the publishers kept going under time and time again until we got this game.......EVEN MICROSOFT fucked him. He took a chance with the original xbox and supported them since the start making Dead or Alive 3/4 and Ninja Gaiden 1, Black and 2 exclusived to the xbox console for a long time.....only for Microsoft to tell him they would not help him make Devil's Third because it was not a Kinect game. That is some evil shit right there. I bought the game just to support Itagaki since his games on the original xbox made the console worth purchase besides Halo, Fable, PGR and Kotor

A far better mix of melee and gun combat is the Deadpool game. Because it is aware, shifts gameplay enough, and has very distinct melee weapons and guns. If you haven't checked out Deadpool yet I recommend it. It's fun though most of that is from Deadpool. Good review also.
