DeviousLSX Needle Glow Kit For 03-07 Classic GM Trucks & Anything Else That Uses X27 Stepper Motors

2 жыл бұрынIn this video, I show you how to build and install the needle glow kit from DeviousLSX. These are from blank PCBs but if buy the ready-built ones you won't need to do that part of it. If your color matching to the background light and you are just trying to make it brighter at the needle you could skip drilling out the old light pipe and installing the tube. It's really needed though if the color is different because the LEDs will blend. I am showing it on a 2006 Silverado Instrument cluster in the video. These will work on 03-07 classic GM trucks. It will also work on the Trailblazer, 00-05 Impalas, and really anything else that uses X27 stepper motors.

I actually edited out the explanation of the problem with LEDs in parallel by mistake. Be aware the if you run the LEDs in parallel you can have cascading failures.

Small correction, and I'm sure it was just a mix-speak, but @7:20 you referred to I F as forwarding impedence but it should be forwarding current. Awesome video. Thanks for showing this.

good catch. I did misspeak. I was filming on the fly while installing this for the first time I had a bunch of misspeaks I had to edit out or refilm. I didn't catch that in editing but you are correct.

If you are talking about changing the color of the display as in PRNDL/odometer DeviousLSX also sells precut film for doing that. All you do is put film over it.

I designed some and had them made. I only put spots for two LEDs though, not 5. Didn't plan on using that many personally.

Which leds do you use? I have the pcbs I ordered from him and if you use 4 leds how do you find the resistor size

I know he updated the pcb recently and I don't have the newest one, did he not include the instructions? The old one came with instructions on how to get right LEDs/resistor

Can’t you just run wiring to the area you need it, add your in line resistor and your led?

No the 99-02 doesn't have a stepper motor like that.

Where are you finding the 4.7mm 3SMD LEDs .?

haha no where anymore. I actually changed the way I do LEDs since the good ones are all gone now. That cluster has actually been on a shelf for 6 or more months. I will do a video on how I am doing leds soon. I am still working out the dim 0-120 on the method once I do that I will do a video.

@@FixedUntilBroken it sucks the good LEDs look soo good no hots spots at all I hope Someoen find a solution or they get it fix

@@albertoslazar4254 yeah the good ones were running at about 85% power so they didn't have hot spots are rarely failed all the ones on the market now are at 100% and so they are too bright and fail a lot more. Thats actually why the transmission temp is so bright compared the rest in the video it's got one of the new ones on it.
