Im a American Italian tile man that quit the tile trade for health care. My dad did tile laying for 50 years i did it for 25 years. We did commercial & residential work. Where i live the tile man is phased out of existence. When 911 hit my work STOPPED and i got into health care and never looked back,ive never been happier. Now im doing my kitchen floor,living room floor counter top,kitchen stove enclosure with a 6x24 wood look plank tile. My water saw (target) sat for 18 years motor rusted (dead). So i bought 1 of these Dewalt hand held water saws.Thanks for the video.

i cant think of a reason to have anything other than this circular saw, an angle grinder, and a tile cutter. if you run a straight edge along your tile for long rips you can perfect cuts with this. also i would lay the tile flat on a waste piece of plywood and cut directly through the tile into the ply to stop the tile from chipping out like in your video.

The beast had a better water pump/spray and felt more powerful. You may want to consider a brushless grinder with a nice diamond wheel like a Montolit. We cut with a sponge on the blade when ripping long tiles. Just an idea...

Hi Landberg (this is Marty, I hijacked my wife’s account). With regards to using the incredible Dewalt folding table (made in Israel, by the way!), not only is it a very versatile table that holds 1000 lbs, it has clamping capability. I just used it to do the same thing you were doing with the 4’ piece of porcelain, only I was cutting wood. The 4 slots in the middle are made to stick an adjustable clamp in, e.g. Irwin or a Dewalt quick adjust 1 foot clamps work well. Put one of the two clamps into each of the two slots on the side of the table facing the piece of material you want to hold, adjust tightly and cut with confidence. It’ll free up your hand not holding the saw.

Its not hard to add a shut-off valve, you can buy a cheap little plastic barbed valve and just install it inline on the hose. Maybe $2 for the valve and a few seconds worth of work. But I agree shut-off capability should have been included from the factory.

Diamond blades are ALWAYS meant to cut with water... Unles you want to overheat the diamonds (diamond is indeed the hardest substance, BUT it does NOT withstand a very high temperature!On the other side, water is a BIG help in reducing the amount of dust that is created. Many vitreous materials do create very small particles you can't even see with a naked eye, those particles can cause what is called "Silicosis" Silicosis (also known as miner's phthisis, grinder's asthma, potter's rot and other occupation-related names, or by the invented name pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis) is a form of occupational lung disease caused by inhalation of crystalline silica dust, and is marked by inflammation and scarring in the internal tissues, and MANY times it results in a bad form of CANCER!BETTER PLAY IT SAFE. Use a good respirator AND water. Better messy than dead after a long and excrutiating sickness.

Is the cutting blade on the wrong side of the saw? The motor off the saw should be sitting over the tile so the flat underneath part of the saw sits and slides over the working surface. I noticed a bit of wobble. It looked like a left handed saw.

@satisfiedcustomer737
@satisfiedcustomer737 Жыл бұрын
@@eamonoz Good call I thought I was the only one and really do not like the way this is set up, it sets up like an old panel saw which is also a goofy set up as well. I hope in time I will learn to like the saw, but thus far it is silly. It really does not need to be so light, and seems the saw is weighted in the wrong spot. If more weight was added at the center of the saw it would feel stable and not so "toy like". The motor is great, but add some balance. The plastic ABS water feed is horrible and does not turn off and designed to break, come on designers, really? The metal bottom plate to adjust the blade depth should have been a bit larger with the ability to use a gauge off the left side near the blade. I learned from using the old Skil worm drive when cutting wood an 1-1/2 inch from the blade to the metal edge of the base plate (now aluminum after the 777) an 1-1/2 inch could be found anywhere (actual size of a 2x4). The DeWalt off-set on the left side is some goofy metric number near 3/8. Most of us are right handed and the old worm drive allowed a clear view of the cut made as the right hand pushed and directed the saw with a clear line of sight positioned safely behind the saw as designed. I guess the intent with this saw is to place an edge along the right side (again a goofy measurement) and not a clear line of sight. ( I like to see the material being cut, call me crazy). It is like scratching your right ear using your left hand. I'm old and like things simple, easy, and safe. The advice is free and you get what you pay for. Black and Decker in yellow plastic the designers really needed to put some effort in this and not impressed. Back Makita angle grinder. Thanks for your time

This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. kzfaq.infoUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.
