That new Holland machine is identical in every way to the case machines in our fleet. Powertrain, chassis, instruments and all. No key switch you just sit on the seat and it powers up, hit the power button, start button and then the operate button to release the park brake. To shutoff hit the power button again. Do not hit the start button by accident you'll ruin the starter and the flywheel. Sigh. No seatbelt interlock, although on ours there's a hydraulic interlock for the door and draw bar being closed and down.

I used to work as a tester in the Case ih assembly plant that built the big patriot sprayers and floater trucks. We used to have wiring issues with brand new machines trying to start them for the first time and trying to diagnose some of it was a nightmare. Pins in the wrong spot in plugs, right from the vendor. Wires that have a pin and are in the right spot but the coating was never stripped and the pin would just be crimped onto the coating cause somebody wasn’t paying attention or didn’t care. Fun stuff

We had a Case TV380 which is the same machine but with eletronic joysticks instead of the regular sticks like you see on this NH. We actually took the harness that went under the engine and chopped it in half, and re-routed it on top of the motor, spliced every wire back together. Completely idiotic design by CNH. Oh, and then one day the machine went crazy and started moving on its own with the operator inside, almost hit the side of a house we were working at. $5000 later at the local Case dealership and 4 months and it came back working with a new ECU. Got rid of that thing as fast as possible.

Got one, no key, just code if you want to use it. Left pillar mostly functions. Right side ignition & brakes. Like you say, when the entire electrical harness is in disarray, start removing tape…never underestimate the importance of the secondary ground at the battery that actually grounds the ignition switch. When it doesn’t make good connection it pops the ignition fuse. Excellent job bud!👊

Thank you for "a kick in the head will just make them smarter". What a nice way to say someone is brain dead, which is a nice way to call someone moronic. I went to college to design better cars. Turns out the engineers design things "poorly" to keep owners from working on their vehicles, and making big bucks from maintenance contracts and dealer mechanics. That harness under the drivetrain was a great example of this. Did a contract with a "vertical transportation" company whose engineers took great pains to ensure their equipment was easy to work on. Most of the engineers had be technicians before getting their educations, so they knew the right way to design equipment.

Love the perseverance mate, CNH track loaders and Skid-steers can be a wiring nightmare. Just FYI if you haven’t already worked it out, the big 60amp fuse is main voltage supply for the glow plugs only. The heavy sealed relay that was close by in the dirt is the glow plug relay. The relay base that you found the spread spade in, that’s located in the back of the cab is for the condenser fan. Your model didn’t have HVAC so not used. There is usually a bullet style ignition back feed diod taped to the harness on the LH side of the chassis. Usually corrodes and give’s grief. Also on some of the models with that style harness they used to hide 3x 3amp earth fuses for the relays in a wether pack plug that looked like a blanking plug, back LH side of the chassis just down from the hyd filter. Good luck with the machine 👍👍

Glue lined heatshrink is much better for sealing joints from water ingress. You will also get good results using a variable temp heat gun instead of commonly using a gas torch for heatshrink in general. That way you can heat it evenly without burning it. When getting those bare brass spade crimps, make sure they are good quality, I'm not sure if utilux is available in the Americas, that's the go to here. The ones i got with a fuse box online were very flimsy. When using crimps you haven't used befire, particularly bigger ones, get extras and practice, including destructive testing. A common issue here in Australia is places sell automotive cable in AWG sizing, but lugs and hex crimpers are in mm2 as you would find in power cabling for buildings etc. I've seen people say its ok to use 4awg in a 25mm2 lug. I tried one, couldn't pull the cable out with pliers, but it in half, no cold weld, it came out. With thermo cycling and vibration, that might have lasted a week, a year, no idea, but it wasn't correct.

That relay not coming on is a common fault with them Dash pieces giving up. Dash in them control alot of different pieces fairly common for them to just randomly give up with out warning. New ones have to be configured to the machine settings also. And you are correct in saying wiring is shite in them and there was a upgrade to move the location of the fuse boxs.

Have an uncle that worked as an executive on the board of Kubota and they had wiring set up similar as what is on that Skid stir you have and they did it because there was some prototype's that could be remotely controlled by a radio controlled interface that would allow the operator to be away from the machine while they operated it on an extreme grade or situation where the operator would not be safe in the cab of the vehicle but could be close to the machine while it is operated! By the way this was back in the 1990's time frame!

Not all heat shrink is created equal if you want to keep moisture out use MSD Heat shrink with glue inside of it.

it doesnt take much in the way of parts replacement for a poorly maintained skid steer to cost more than its worth. They are handy machines but you got to stay on top of every function or you end up with a pyle of scrap PDQ. Dont ask me how I know this. And I agree with lasersights... all tow trucks should have a few snatch blocks on them.

New Holland must have some of Fords wiring engineers. 2 miles more wire than needed. Good job on getting it running.
