The real ranking is qualifying times. NSX-R driver seems to have carte Blanche to do whatever he wants to win the ‘race’ while others have to pay for any damage in case of accident

haha not quiet, Gan-san is just know to be more agressive but all drivers are professional Super GT drivers. All the NSX-R has some more power than official, all Japanese manufacturers cheated on the power figures, they all made some more, especially the NSX-R got the best performing engines from Honda. Japanese manufacturers tested the engine in bad conditions so they did not make more than 280hp due to the gentlemans agreement.

No, the NSX driver is just very experienced. His name is Keichi Tsuchiya, and he's raced in Le Mans and other circuits in an NSX.

A lot of people are saying something was up with this race, and I have to say, before i saw any comments, I thought that the drivers other than the NSX were often chilling and not pushing. The NSX-R is obviously a beast, especially in the hands of someone that really knows it, but I don't overly drink the Kool Aid on that car like a lot of the fanboys. The NSX might have superior turn in, and perfect balance, and the R trim level is a monster, but it didn't add up to the domination that some people try make it sound like. The RX7's of that generation were beasts too, their top trim levels were top performers as well. Those races were televised on the speed channel back in the day, and the rx7's would have half lap leads on people, including NSX's, until heat soak would factor in later in races, and people would gain ground. The NSX, beautiful timeless car. Unbeatable? The best of a generation..a nice discussion, but not fact.

Definitely saw some sandbagging on this one. I've noticed this on some other BMI videos. But in reality, the Stradale should have won. Better brakes and more power in comparison to the NSX Type R.

Best Motoring do tend to drive non Japanese cars nowhere near their limit. The idea that an NSX-R is that much faster than a Challenge Stradale or a 996 GT3 is comical at best. You can see how far at the limit the NSX's, GT-Rs and other similar sports cars are. Then you see the Italian and German cars always being short shifted and let off throttle way ahead of the turn. They had a race where an NSX-R was able to stay in view of a F50, which I found comical.

ppl here do be forgetting that gan-san is a dangerous driver huh? he clearly closed the door at the last lap so he wouldn't pass him! best motoring is to showcase the performance on cars. but gan-san dont care about that, he race to win so he will do whatever it takes that includes blowing up a motor, cause an accident or whatever the case may be. that's why most these drivers "scared" of him bc hes reckless!

That`s called racing. In order to take the corner to the right he needed to be on the left side of the track. The Ferrari wasn`t next to him yet so the NSX had all the right to move to that side. Racing is not moving over for a other cars just because they are faster.

I feel why people are mad because they think the race is rigged, but I say that guy in the ferrari was clearly frustrated at the end,. He even went as far as to curse Gan-san (when he said “ano kuso Gigi” I was laughing so hard). It really isn’t about the cars this time its about the drivers. Gan san really is just that good.

Gan-san's drive in NSX is awesome, but not his block, it's awful. The last corner block is not necessary. He got the inside line anyway, and no one would blame NSX-R if it lost after all. Standard NSX is actually a bit out dated in it's 00's. It can barely competes the supercars like it did in 90's. The NSX-R is not dominanting, but not far behind.

Best Motoring or Japanese Motoring? Even JDM fans realized the shows bias and setup laps by now. E46 M3 CSL has the fastest Nurburgring lap time among any of these cars and by a 6 second difference from the next best in this group.

@@jakegianino5762 Not sure what the hate for BMW is among the JDM fan boys really. BMW is the example for nearly all of them. How? Well if you look at the engineering, BMW’s main concentration has always been achieving the most power out of the least displacements engines. Unlike Mercedes-Benz or any of the American cars. Look at Honda’s ideology for instance. Also the 2J isn’t even made by Toyota. It’s built by Yamaha but designed by a German motorsport company.

Nurburgring times do not indicate best performance on every track. The CSL was developed on and for the Nurburgring, that's why it's quick there.

My friend 7:50 is the time of m3 csl 7:56 is the nsx r time on the nordschleife, it’s 6 seconds gap arround the high speed 8 minutes lap, the slower the circuit setup is the better the nsx r performs comparing to the csl so even with a same high speed track the nsx would be theoretically 1.8 seconds slower than the csl but at twin ring the nsx r has much more advantage on the csl so the test are so true that you have absolutely no idea 🤷‍♂️

it wouldn't but the straights are not long enough even when the other cars had even more power, it creates the gap in the corners and especially under breaking. Also Gan-san blocked the Ferrari in the end, otherwise the Ferrari might have took the win.

The e gears were garbage..as usual the nsx r holds its place even though I thought the cs would eventually get him at the end of the long str8. The csl is fast but it outweighs the NSX r significantly and even though the engines share displacement the NSX is helping with traction by being midships. The NSX R is the greatest car of its generation..

I'm waiting to see the NSX-R against the F355 Challenge. Both are stripped down mid-engine track toys of the same generation with similar displacement (3.2 vs 3.5)

just that Porsche and BMW mostly win in Japan, BMW was even their Toge Maui for years. Watch all their videos before judging. Japanese culture is different to the west and european cars are considered better than japanese cars in japan by most people, especially Porsche is huge in Japan. The NSX was just lucky in the Video but even then the NSX-R is a very good car, one has been sold for 630k in the US just a few days ago, most people just don't know anything about it but performance wise it's on par with the GT3 and probably slightly better than the CSL.

It’s a marketing material for lazy or non enthusiastic people who don’t want to give a good thought to cars real performance. First of all, NSX was not the fastest car here, it finished P1 because other faster cars was struggling in the battles before they make their way forward, while NSX had a good start from beginning. Secondly, other cars are less suited for such a small course as Motegi than NSX, mostly because they have much longer gear ratios, including final drive. Thirdly, NSX Type R is a track tool with almost no compromises in terms of daily drivability, which makes it lighter and stiffer compered to most of competitors here. It is an obvious advantage in Motegi layout. This fact can lead us to the conclusion that even with more power (but not so dramatically because of P.W.R) competitors don’t have such a huge gap on a straights because top speed really depends on your corner entry, mid cornering and, as a result, in your recovery from corner. After corner recovery there is not enough space to accelerate because straits on this course end really soon and (again) requires shorter gear ratios to be most effective. For instance, in this case NSX will be much faster in recoveries compered to 4WD Gallardo, because Mid-ship layout at this time and at this track layout is far superior in every way compered to 4WD, maybe except 0-60 launches that you people so care about and love to compare. Finally, the guy who was driving NSX was Motoharu Kurosawa, who is a racing veteran and the best driver on this grid. He is also a Honda’s test pilot, who had spend numerous time before with this car and knows its limits precisely, while others cannot drive their cars so comfortably on the edge. Plus all this cars are expensive West exotic with LHD, that can be problematic to Japanese drivers here. This complex of factors gives a great handicap to NSX in THIS PARTICULAR track battle. For instance, if you put a Gallardo in Tsukuba it will obviously not be so effective as in Fuji speedway and contrary to NSX, because different cars are not performing in the same efficient way in every circumstances. I can't believe M3 CSL which is coupe 2-door sedan can compete with high-end sportcar / entry-level supercar at that same era I can't imagine how fast Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune R34, a japanese M3 CSL but better in everyway. Perhaps will be as fast or even faster than NSX Type R

Someone who worked on the show in the 90s revealed that the guy who drove the McLaren F1 in its episode was told specifically to drive slow because it had just won the JGTC & Nissan were trying to get it banned from racing in Japan at the time.

mmmmmm again the sAme thing happens here, at the min 3:53 the ferrari stradale driver "forgots" to acelerate of course then at the min 4:09 the 360 modena It acts as a "plug" by braking more than necessary and slowing down itself and 911 so that the NSX passes freely and easily. and in the end the gallardo brakes much earlier for the NSX to pass easily. I really had respect for Japan for their way of doing things and their excessive seriousness (just like the Germans.) But this is a VERY bad joke. They drive the Japanese car too well (up to the limit if necessary.) but any contender too badly.

Well of course. Ifyou actually do trackdays you'd know how to preserve tires, brakes, etc. during the race. NSX had the weight advantage, gallardo was a lot heavier compared to that. Had he braked later than the NSX, sure he could've stayed 1st but not at the end of that lap because his brakes would be worn out and he might've ultimately come last because of that problem. Tsukuba circuit have lots of corners than straights, less weight is key on this track.

I can sort of understand your scepticism but their are too many variables to point fingers or make accusations. 1.) these are not individual timed sessions, under those circumstances lap times or hypothetical race position may differ. 2.) they are racing door-2-door, one just has to sit back and wait for the right opportunity. 3.) drive axles, weight, weight balance, suspension, down-force or lack of there of, engine placement, tires, transmission, brakes, etc - major factors!!..and all things(drivers) being equal...they will definitely dictate driving style/line such as braking limitations, when, where and how you enter a turn and the speed you are able to enter/exit a turn. But also, no car will have the same strengths at every track.

There are plenty of Best Motoring vids where the NSX doesn't win. I would not expect a Gallardo on regular tyres to be a good track car. Even on the road they were judged by journalists as having too much understeer. It weighs 300kg more than the NSX-R!

because they were stuck behind the Gallardo, the NSX-R got lucky with a early overtake, the stradale did push once it had clean air quickly picked up. The race would have been much different without the gallardo

FYI, all these cars back then had crappy sequential gear boxes, quick shifting Dual clutches weren't used. Stop commenting about egears and SMG, they were all equal, all crap compared to now. On another note that 360 CS was clearly the fastest car here, not sure how that shows Japanese bias, 2 seconds a lap is huge

Have you ever experienced later iterations of the Ferrari F1 gearbox or Maserati MC Shift? Im guessing not lol. The shift in the 430 Scuderia is about the best gearshift ive ever experienced in a road car and the pinnacle of the tech. Unforgettable shifts. Even in the 360CS, the F430, the Granturismo GT / MC Stradale and the the Gransport, the automated manuals in these cars is WAY better than some would lead you to believe. I admit the SMG could be awful but really only at town speeds....in the E60 M5 the SMGiii is SOOO much better when your "on it" than the shiddy 6sp manual the yanks got that its not even funny.

@@tomwebb7091 No I was referring to these cars here and the robotized manuals from that era (1996-2006 roughly). I drove a 360 CS for multiple days and M3 SMG many miles, poor performing and very unreliable reputation. The BMW SMG's were around since the mid 90's I have also driven 458 Speciale and 458's, those are totally different transmissions and very impressive, I've never driven a Scud , but like I mentioned that was an iteration after the 360 as was the MC shift

Fianlly someone who understands and does not blame them for scripting, especially their usual track Tskuba favours small light cars much more than heavy high HP cars. In this case the NSX-R is indeed a very capably car and on par with the CSL and the GT3 ( also makes much more power than the 280hp like all the Japanese cars).

@@Corvolet5 Because you people are too close-minded and ignorant to understand that 0-60 test always has been a joke and do not really shows cars real potential on track. It’s a marketing material for lazy or non enthusiastic people who don’t want to give a good thought to cars real performance. First of all, NSX was not the fastest car here, it finished P1 because other faster cars was struggling in the battles before they make their way forward, while NSX had a good start from beginning. Secondly, other cars are less suited for such a small course as Motegi than NSX, mostly because they have much longer gear ratios, including final drive. Thirdly, NSX Type R is a track tool with almost no compromises in terms of daily drivability, which makes it lighter and stiffer compered to most of competitors here. It is an obvious advantage in Motegi layout. This fact can lead us to the conclusion that even with more power (but not so dramatically because of P.W.R) competitors don’t have such a huge gap on a straights because top speed really depends on your corner entry, mid cornering and, as a result, in your recovery from corner. After corner recovery there is not enough space to accelerate because straits on this course end really soon and (again) requires shorter gear ratios to be most effective. For instance, in this case NSX will be much faster in recoveries compered to 4WD Gallardo, because Mid-ship layout at this time and at this track layout is far superior in every way compered to 4WD, maybe except 0-60 launches that you people so care about and love to compare. Finally, the guy who was driving NSX was Motoharu Kurosawa, who is a racing veteran and the best driver on this grid. He is also a Honda’s test pilot, who had spend numerous time before with this car and knows its limits precisely, while others cannot drive their cars so comfortably on the edge. Plus all this cars are expensive West exotic with LHD, that can be problematic to Japanese drivers here. This complex of factors gives a great handicap to NSX in THIS PARTICULAR track battle. For instance, if you put a Gallardo in Tsukuba it will obviously not be so effective as in Fuji speedway and contrary to NSX, because different cars are not performing in the same efficient way in every circumstances. You see? It’s not always about HP and cringe 0-60 test. It’s a pity that people like you can’t get that because of your ignorance

I like how the NSX quarter mile with a manual is 12.7 and the M3 with more power and a dualclutch does 12.9, you dont need to be a rocket scientist to understand something is very very wrong here, even the Lambo with 500hp does a pretty lame 12.6 despite also having a dual clutch

Check the numbers of quarter mile in other sources, here it was driven by a pro pilot, and he manage a 0.1 faster quarter mile than the official bmw results so at a point accept that nsx is just faster man 13 seconds 1/4 mile is the official result of bmw, so the acceleration is about the same at low speeds, the cornering and breaking is better on the nsx so where is the problem?

12.3 is the fastest 1/4 mile for the stock lp540 gallardo, here in the video it was a slower version so plz stop blaming best motoring for fake testing, this is probably the best car test channel with pro drivers, so 12.6 it’s a good result for this gallardo probably even faster than the official numbers, it’s not dct transmission from the nowadays BMW

I had the opportunity to drive many crazy cars the last 20 years, like 911 GT3, Ariel Atoms, the M3 CSL etc, there is something different to Honda cars though which is even very noticable in their Civic Type R and especially in the Integra Type R which allows you to drive them much more on the edge than other cars and that from the beginning. Other cars, especially europeans take more time to understand and have a more conservative setup from factory, even the GT3, they are very concerned with amateurs binning their cars wheras the Hondas are ... almost a bit dangerous (which makes them very fast in capable hands).

it doesn't, like any of the Japanese cars, they all made more power, sometimes even up to 50hp more, they used to test engine power under very bad conditions to stay within the "gentleman agreement" stock GTR's have been measured with up to 350hp under good conditons. Also what Honda did was saying that their cars (example the NSX) would rev to 8000rpm when in fact it would rev to 8400rpm making peak power there. I don't know why but they were heavily cheating to stay in the gentlemans agreement.

@@geokomand5852 hahaha yes they are not racecars but they are very very different in weight, power, suspension, setup etc. the Gallardo is a GT car, it's not a track focused car, the Scuderia, the GT3, the CSL and most the NSX-R are track focused car. The Gallardo is probabaly the second worst car in the bunch, thats also why it started at the front on the reverse grid order. See they also do single lap times at the beginning of the show.

I know it seems a bit strange that a 280hp car can beat a 400hp car like the modena. But don't underestimate the NSX-R, it beat the modena at the Nurburgring with over 10 seconds!

Na. Not fake firstly Gan San was driving the NSX type R , he’s arguably the best driver on that grid . Secondly the track is short small so big power Cars are negligible on this track. Thirdly the Nsx type R weighs much less compared to the other cars so although the other cats have more power the NSX pulls just as good due to the weight advantage.

@@moosahans4830 Honda NSX-R completed a lap of Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 56.7 seconds. The Modena CS did the ring in 7:56. Same time for these cars on high speed course. Don't know why @sombraniteips think this race was a classic fake.

@@voodoodiecast if you knew anything about racing you wouldn't say that. Did you really watch the race? The NSX got lucky with a early overtake of the Gallardo and the stradale got stuck behind the Gallardo way to long holding up the GT3 and the CSL. Leave out the Gallardo and the Modena and modena stradale the race would be very close with the GT3 on top. And did you ever did some research on the NSX-R? Even in 2002 it was in many parts way ahead of it's competition, the Aero was so advanced back then it was what the new GT3 RS is now. It was more downforce and less drag than any of the other cars on the grid and also the NSX-R made more power (like any Japanese cars back then) than what they said (usually around 320-330hp on the wheel) to say Best Motoring is rigged is bullshit, look at the single lap times. A race has so many different factors than just a cars performance and a 100hp advantage is not reall special but a 150kg weight advantage is significant on a track with a capable driver. There are many Best Motoring videos where Porsches are beating Japanese cars and if you had watched the videos you knew that the drivers love the Porsches especially Gan-San the NSX driver. Also Japanese are not like the Germans who think their stuff is the best, Porsche and BMW are one of the most beloved brands in Japan with a huge following. Japan even has their own Porsche Cup same like Germany has. Same goes for the italian brands, Japanese are die hard euro cars fan, this biased JDM fanboy stuff is a european/american thing, that does not exist in Japan because their culture is not comparable to ours and they don't have the western arrogance.
