I actually really love hip hop culture and rap wars, and ya'll reactors, (especially you two in my opinion), have all provided a lot of good insights to me on what that means to people, and to fans. But I actually respect Cole for this. When you bow out, you leave the crowd, not the crown. It makes you different to leave the game they created and think outside the box. I consider it ART, not sport. And in Art, the Artist decides how they release and display their work. You don't have to play by anyone else's rules, cuz you're not playing at all, you're creating. That being said, I understand as much as I can, as someone who did not come from that culture, how disappointing this must be for fans, because if you were acting like you were going to compete, and then you take a knee at the last minute, it would be. But it's never too late to do the right thing for yourself, if you realize the game they made was flawed. I'm not saying that rap wars are flawed, but rules change all the time, and there's more than one right way to win. Sometimes the only way to win is not to play. It's a hard lesson to learn in Life, especially if you really are protecting your peace. The ego and pride don't want to see people bow out, but the Spirit, (and him mentioning his Spirit is crazy to me), flys around all of that bullshit in Life and goes it's own way toward honor, not pride. So to anyone who says I don't get an opinion cuz I'm not from that culture, it would be like if you invented Spanish as a language, and then got mad at the other 2 billion people on Earth who have learned it and now speak it and understand it. At some point you have to let it go and realize it's bigger than you, it's a global game. I don't want to see less rap battles, I want that culture to stay alive, but personally as an Artist, my biggest competition has always been myself.
