Are die cut quilling paper strips with flower petals something you should pick up or a hard pass? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
Some of the tools I used in this video:
📍Die Cut Quilling Paper Strips (similar)*: amzn.to/3H4JbPx
📍Savvy Slotted Quilling Tool: amzn.to/3H73w6H
📍Needle Nose Glue Bottle: amzn.to/3S4SVzk
*The photos for these strips show a lot of flowers with a center made from a tight coil of traditional quilling paper wrapped with the die cut strips to form the petals so there's another idea!

I am a "newbie" to this lovely art form at 73 years old, and have MUCH to learn! So glad l found your video before l invested in those strips. I thought l could achieve nice looking results quickly by cheating a bit, but now l see that it would have been a waste of $$$ and I would have been so frustrated, unable to use the flowers. I better just learn how to make consistent, good basic shapes and move on to more intricate designs later. I think this is a perfect art: doesn't require much investment for tools/supplies like painting for example, can be done anytime in a small space, is noiseless and clean, other than an occasional glue mishap. Looking forward to watching all your videos!😊

I used these in a picture frame bouquet and they worked out a lot better.

Thank you! This is the first clear instructions on how to use these I have some of these that I have found anywhere! I couldn't get them to look right when I first got them, so I just started using the strips as a border edge on my cards or on scrapbook pages, for an extra detail 😏. Maybe I can use them now as they were meant to be. But, if you, being an experienced quiller, had trouble keeping them straight, maybe they will keep going on my cards.😉

Using them as borders sounds like a great solution!

I bought some and have used the first one you demonstrated a couple of times, but the colors are not very vibrant. As you said, the paper is very light so it’s a little cheap looking. Thanks for sharing !

I agree. It was hard to roll and I couldn't use them for cards :(

They work much better with a peg in the center.

I too had tried a few of these but it wasn’t until I was looking at them on Amazon it shows you start out with a tight coil center then start the die cut strips around it. The pictures looked nice but then again I haven’t done it that way before.

I noticed that too when I was looking for a link to a similar product as the one I used in the video. I wish I had done that first and I would have included some examples in the video but I had to settle for a note in the description. Some of the flowers did look nice but I'm not sure it would settle the tricky rolling with some of the wider petals getting stuck on each other.

I've had dies to do these type of flowers and you have to work each petal to form the flower - there are no shortcuts.

Thank you for your thoughts! I was hoping someone who had used the actual dies would share their experience 😁
