Die Hard is a 1988 American action thriller film directed by John McTiernan, written by Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza. Based on Roderick Thorp's 1979 novel Nothing Lasts Forever. The film follows off-duty New York City Police Department officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) who is caught in a Los Angeles skyscraper on Christmas Eve during a heist led by criminal mastermind Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman).

Hey, Critic... Would you believe me if I told you a 2000s Disney film FLOPPED? It's called Roadside Romeo. It's by the India branch of Disney... and it's honestly not that bad. But that's just one opinion. Review it if you dare...

It's definitely a Christmas movie, seasonal presentation aside: - Distant, married to his job, parent visiting for the holidays. - There's a third wheel who is into the main character's significant other. - There's a party scene that's followed by an argument. - The villains are the embodiment of excessive greed. - An aspect of the film is about realising what really matters, being with one's family.

@Azzi2166 Yeah, there is also cultural and character context to take into consideration. Of course people in Django use the word a lot, but people should also look at who is using it. The villains of the movie use it the most. Look at Tarantino himself using the word in Pulp Fiction. Well, he is close friends with Samuel's character and has been put in a difficult position by him. He is pissed-off and is trying to show that. I have seen people shocked by Blazing Saddles, claiming that it is the most racist movie ever made, when it is actually all about accepting each other as the same human beings no matter what. Understanding context is difficult for a lot of people it seems?

I completely agree about Willis vs Stalone and Schwarzenegger! Willis is my all time favorite action actor because he can look genuinely scared shitless when he gets into a fire fight or hangs in an elevator shaft, whereas Stalone and Schwarzenegger just knows they're going to come out on top. Willis doesn't get cocky until after when he realizes he's the last one standing. It gives the impression that he isn't just an unstoppable force of badass but a human being with skills and a healthy dose of luck!

I don't know about America, but over here we watch "The Hogfather" at xmas. It's on TV like every year. And it's based off a book by a beloved English author, Sir Terry Pratchett, who died a few years back. Basically, the Grim Reaper has to dress up as not-Santa in order to save not-Christmas. And we love it. I'm just bringing it up because in my (admittedly limited) experience, I've never really seen Americans mention Terry Pratchett, while in Australia, it's impossible to discuss literature without bringing him up.

I would honestly love to see a cliche Christmas story with a hard R rating. "Santa we're stuck in the police station how do we get out?" **Santa slowing loading gun** "The only way out now look the other way" It cuts to the outside of the station, 3 shots each one going further and further away from the station. 20 seconds go by and an ambulance pulls up identifying 3 dead civilians, 2 Children and 1 Man. Then the end credits appear with the most cheerful song ever.

There was sort of a modern Die Hard game based off the first movie. It was called Nakatomi Plaza. It was a first person shooter based off the first movie. It was only released for PC which kinda sucked because I don’t rememeber hating it but when I try to install it on my current PC it’s glitches up now and makes it unplayable to try to go back too unless you have an old PC. But anyone who hasn’t heard of it I recommend checking it out.

for those who think it's not a Christmas movie forgot these elements -Christmas music is played or sung from time to time -Merry Christmas was said in the movie -they have one of the prettiest Christmas tree's ever in that one building -that sweater has the message colored red and says Ho Ho Ho if all that isn't enough F you its Die Hard

In 1987, a year before Die Hard’s premiere, Lethal Weapon opened with “Jingle Bell Rock.” One of the first scenes takes place in a Christmas tree lot. One of the final scenes has a car smash into a wall and into a fully adorned Christmas tree. The last scene involves everyone coming together for Christmas dinner as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” plays. Aside from one wiseass note, what role does Christmas actually play in Die Hard?

you're not three years too late, Rob. There were radio stories this Christmas about Die Hard, and how people are arguing that it's a Christmas Classic.

Fun fact: Alexander Godunov aka Karl is an experienced ballet dancer. You can tell by his expert flying kicks during the fight.

This was adapted from a book (see the Lost in Adaptation clip about it.) Apparently, if they wanted to make it more accurate, Willis could easily reprise the role.

It’s two days before Christmas and my dad, stepmom and I just finished Die Hard. We concluded that there are enough elements to make it a Christmas movie. Also, Romans 3:23: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Not sure if that was planned, but good on you!

9:20 so what i heard from a director's commentary, or maybe it was a behind the scenes where apparently when Hanz is falling to his death, they didn't tell him when they were gonna release the tether and let him fall because when they did it with the disclosure they didn't get the right look of terror on his face and by the 12th retake they were just like, "AAH FUCK IT lets release it early just no one tell rickman!"

I know it was a joke,, but the idea of a man not only having to single handedly stop a terrorist attack, but that it's also 2 different terrorist groups are attacking the same location at the same time is a movie that NEEDS to be made. The plot is so out there and kinda unique that I'm more surprised that it HASN'T been done.
