So when I first saw this movie, that Brontosaurus scene actually made me tear up, because it just made me think back to the first movie where it showed that dinosaurs aren’t just killing machines and they are actual creatures. Beyond the storytelling perspective, using dinosaurs as living weapons is impractical as jeck, and would probably violate some laws/treaties about the ethical treatment of animals and the ways in which wars are fought. Also, these dinguses forget just how effective modern military ordinance is, so even if you did find some idiot with enough power in interest to put these beasts onto the battlefield, your investment would be very quickly lost. The carnivores that got let out shouldn't be too hard to hunt down. Call up the national guard right away and give it a month tops. And that's not even getting into the logistics of the endeavor. Gestation and growth times, training, specialized housing, food, water, and possibly even equipment like armor, heated clothing to open up new areas for deployment that they can't handle otherwise, and sensors for the guys handling them. This is leaving aside their lack of creative designs, and the low intelligence of these supposed cunning killing machines. Mind you I've only seen the original movie, but using dinos as living weapons wouldn't be practical even if it was possible.
@Lishadra5 жыл бұрын
It would have been cool if at the beginning of the movie we see a catastrophic upset. It could have established the dinosaurs being poached off the island and kept in some secret facility or whatever, and then breaking out. Maybe Owen or the Target Demographic girl accidentally releases them and there’s a guilt arc later, I dunno. But then the rest of the movie is about people adapting to this new normal. Do they kill them all? Just the predators? Do they try to coexist and set up wildlife conservation areas? What do you do in this situation? It feels like this movie asked this question, but was too scared to answer it.

I wouldnt have minded the little girl being a clone if they had done anything with it or it had gone anywhere. Like it didn't add up to anything other than her opening the door and letting the dinosaurs out, they could have gotten out any other way and it would have meant about as much. It's the Jurassic Park equivalent of "Martha!", it's obvious that whoever wrote it thought it was clever but it's just too damn on the nose

And to think we thought the girl being a clone,would be the dumbest thing they did with the character.

The dumbest part of the whole “island is gonna blowup” plot is the fact that there ARE 5 islands & at least 1 other island has dinosaurs on it, yet no one in the movie addresses this fact!

Here's a brief explanation from someone who likes it (and is currently working on a re-edit of it). Firstly I feel like this film was made as a midway point for an intended trilogy and the only reason they didn't start with a "Jurassic World" was that they wanted to show the fans, such as myself, that they were returning to form. Secondly the affects were better, they used more animatronics, they lifted certain scenes directly from the books, and they made an effort to showcase that they had a direction for the story to go. But unfortunately both in post production and in the writing they forgot to focus on making THIS movie good on its own. I really enjoy it because it does have some really good shots, I really enjoyed the scenes they pulled from the books (The Indoraptor pretending to be tranq'd was one of them) and I honestly enjoy the acting. I feel like certain parts could be cut or moved around to make the two new characters less of an annoyance. I like what their characters could have been but not their characters. I did get very emotional at the brontosaurus death scene. I thought it was really well done and I think just labelling this as "but the tried to kill them" is somewhat disingenuous. Everyone knows they're dangerous, that's pretty much the whole reason there's a debate about whether they should help save them or not. But BDH's character has clearly done some growing (that was crudely exposited at the beginning) and it has been a running theme that while these animals are dangerous they are animals and no matter ow they came into being we must accept the consequences of our actions. That was the entire theme of the first film. This is a bit of a return to form, but like I said they focused too much on including things to show they are returning to form that the writing and attention to detail in post took a blow and it shows. Tl;dr - They tried to appease the hardcore fans too much and the movie suffered for it.
