I agree... Ever heard a Supra or Skyline that didn't have one???... Its cool to have one on a diesel because honestly it's a bit unexpected... However, it's totally unnecessary as TD don't really have a throttle body that slams shut, they just take the gulp of boosted air that normal vehicle would have to get rid of with a BOV

This isn't a moving part. And this is to stop turbo bark, turbo bark is the turbine spinning backwards, the bov stops that to protect the turbo

+Skidoo Rider13 Diesels always run at positive inlet pressure, no turbo bark. A diesel is throttled entirely via fuel injection. Also it is a mechanical valve that opens during change in pressure, that is a moving part in my book and they can and do go wrong which could reduce your boost pressure & power.

+CAElite my diesel nissan terrano has an electronic throttle body , so a BOV works for it.

Ever since I read this comment a while back I've had second thoughts about fitting one of these (I'd like to use my 4WD as an actual 4WD, not a big car) and I just read a forum online that said the valves would move too quickly for the water to have any negative affect. If anyone knows otherwise I'd love to hear it

@@mitchellw6811 you can just wire the Bov electronic module onto a switch inside the cab, so you can turn off the Bov whenever you want

it works by vacuum

Tap into the boost sensor on the inter cooler and boost gauge. Only will show boost on gauge but that’s all you need

Useful if you hit 1.8-2.0 bar of pressure.

Simon he means its useless because theres no throttle plate for the boost to hit against there for elimating the need to bov in the first place

actually. not useless at all get a education 1994delicaman... all though in this application is probably useless. but on a modified diesel, say your running 50 psi, and you let off, shifting stoping listening to the waste gate and bov, what ever your reason, well that 50 psi still needs to go some where, and if your shifting, your just dropped out of the turbo efficeny zone, that 50 psi is either going to try to go through the leave in the normal fashion but if you all of a sudden go from right to red line back to say 2000, that 50 psi isnt going out the exhaust vavles quick enough, so the air rushes back in to the intake stream, usually in r to the compressor wheel, which can make it instantly fail, or say it dosent happen the first time, but its a matter of time before itd cause you problems, so bov's are just as important on a diesel.

Austin Hilton, well I have to say that I disagree with you, most (99%) diesel engines do not come with a bov at all because it is not needed. I've been working on commercial class 8 trucks for the past 5 years and non of those trucks run any type of bov. some engines make more boost up to 65 psi under a full fuel application and if the operater were to bring the fuel back down to idle abruptly such as a gear shift the turbo might bark for a bit until manifold pressure has gone down from the spooling down engine. so in my career I have never seen a turbo fail from not having the manifold depressurized for a gear shift or revving or anything of that nature. even in high-performance diesel engines don't have a bov, goof
