In this video, I talk about how I changed my diet and used fasting during the healing process of my inguinal hernia. None of this is medical advice and I'm not a medical professional, but I hope that sharing my journey and process can help others who want to try natural healing. Good luck!

I just had surgery for inguinal hernia. I told my doctor that when I don't eat dairy the hernia wouldn't pop out but he totally didn't believe me and said there is absolutrly no way to close a hole in your gut.. I am super intoned with my body like how you are and it is so inspiring to hear someone else who thinks the same about it. I started fasting 16 hours fasts every day. I stop eating at 7pm and eat my first small meal at 11am the next day. It is working so well to keep my body feeling great my intestines go crazy if I have dairy. Luckily I had the hernka sewed shut no mesh or anything at hoping it stays closed. Thanks for your hernia updates

Hi Tom, I am a 73 yo female. I had an abdominal surgery 15 months ago and have since developed a hernia (still pretty small) at the surgery site near the belly button. Your story has given me hope. I don’t want to go in for another surgery for all the reasons you’ve mentioned. I’m so glad to hear about your healing journey! I have found little about healing naturally so I’m excited to have found your channel. I do have a question about food. I been trying to stay within the guidelines of Eat Right For Your Type for my blood type. May I ask what your blood type is? Thanks so much!

Thanks for these tips, Tom! I've been vegan for a quarter century already and don't smoke or drink, but I think I may have been eating too large portions of meals. I had a hiking accident in Jun and when my back didn't get better after a month and a half I saw a Dr. X-rays showed my back's ok, but what I thought was lymph node swelling turned out to be an inguinal hernia! I'd like to avoid an operation at all cost and came across your videos in search for natural healing. I'd start the regular 16-18h fasting routine you mentioned immediately and will also eat more raw veg, instead of frying them. The ginger and honey tea sounds good too! Did you drink that during your fasting hours? I got hernia support underwear a few days ago, which seems to help. Did you use that at all? I'm also wondering if age can play a role in natural healing (I'm in my mid 40s).

I usually used the tea as a way to break my fast in the morning, since honey will spike your glucose and break your fast. I never wore any truss or specific underwear, but I've heard they can be very helpful!

Hi all, I got one indirect inguinal hernia while practicing yoga (Dhanurasana position) on Dec 2022. The intestine came out and went back in. There's no visible lump. I had consultation with an ayurveda doctor. He told me that it's not serious it'll heal itself within 3 months. He advised the following: 1. consume protein rich foods such as mutton soup, mung bean etc 2. Control diet- no heavy meals, no spicy food, 3. Don't consume foods which will increase gas. He prescribed ayurvedic liquid medicines for gas releasing for 3 months duration.

Hi Tom, i heard people say against 72 hours fasting for inguinal hernia, because 'your muscles get weaker from long fasting and that's bad / dangerous for your inguinal hernia". What do you think about this argument? I personally thought that it will help a lot due to the shrinking and giving your inguinal hernia / hole rest and healing. What are your thoughts? Maybe it's also important to think about how and what to eat after a 72 hour fast to not overload your inguinal hernia spot.. Let me know your thoughts pls

So i've notice a slight bulge above my bellybutton recently. I believe i've always had it, but it's become a bit more pronounced since i've been progressing with weight lifting. I've been reading about how Russians use various forms of fasting to cure many ailments. Dry Fasting has peaked my interest, soley because many use it to cure and strengthen fascia tissue, joints and connective tissues. I will be incorporating 2-3 times a week dry fasting to see if i can remedy this on my own. If not, then under the knife i'll go.

Greetings friend. I have not checked to see if it has completely healed. For all I know there could still be a tear. However, I do know that the hernia has not come out in many months and it does not get in the way of my life anymore. Whether that is due to tightening the surrounding muscles, cleaning out my gut, or the tear healing I do not know. But for all intents and purposes I would say it has been treated.

@@tommaher1841according to dr pradip jamandas who is an expert on fasting, he explains while fasting your body goes into whata called gluconeogenesis its a state where your body is able to tap into and use stem cells to heal anything i mean ANYTHING. So its VERY likely the tear has been repaired. The only thing about fasting people should understand is that your body has a priority system. It will fix the most important thing first and if u have a lot of health problems it may take a while of fasting (and other care like eating whole foods) to get to everything. Check out dr pradips youtube page. Good stuff. (Just type in his name)

I'm planning to go to a clean carnivore diet to heal my hernia. Because meat is digested higher up in the gut it should alleviate pressure in the inguinal area.
@tommaher1841
@tommaher1841 Жыл бұрын
I'm very curious about how your results will be! Quite the opposite of my approach of going vegetarian. I haven't done much research on the carnivore diet, but it may be a good strategy if it is easily digested and digested higher up as you said. I've heard of meat being digested faster than plants, hence the shorter digestive tracts of carnivores vs herbivores, but I've also heard that some meat can escape digestion and lead to putrefaction or cause inflammation in the gut. I suppose the quality of meat and the other foods you eat matter as well.

@@tommaher1841 All good points. I think one key (as you mentioned already) is not to overeat in general - regardless of what it is. There's no one right way to do this. I've been wanting to try carnivore for a long time now and my bias leads me to the reasons it will work to heal my hernia ;)

@@tommaher1841 I think the idea that saturated fat and cholesterol are bad for our health has largely been overturned. In fact, it's quite the opposite considering that much of our nutrition comes from these sources. Egg yolks are one of nature's multi-vitamins. And the egg white is the most absorbable source of protein from whole foods. Definitely avoid the seed and vegetable oils. The processing/refining renders them rancid and the otherwise high PUFA content combine to cause long-term inflammation and health issues down the road.

Interesting but can you explain precisely why eating a lot of raw vegetables can help? I mean, they contain a lot of indigestible fibers, fermentable fibers, some of them can even cause inflammation and irritation of the GI tract (for example those high in oxalates or in lectins). So I guess that's not adding more bulk, more gas and more inflammation in the bowels which is supposed to help.

I'm no nutritionist, so I can't say for sure. All that I did was based on what little I could find on the internet. having a clean diet with lots of fruits and veggies seemed like a good idea to me, but I don't know which foods might have been the most beneficial vs which ones could have been detrimental. I also believe everyone responds differently to different diets, so what worked for me may not necessarily work for others.

You can build muscle to compensate for the hernias but as soon as the economy shuts down and you lose the muscle, guess what? All those injuries come to the surface. This is why retirees often start falling apart once they retire as my father did, which led to his untimely death. He had untreated hernias bc he thought he could manage them himself without surgery. He ended up with other pelvic problems, surgery, and a subsequent massive heart attack. Dont let this happen to you!!! I see a lot of uninsured young men on KZfaq trying to manage hernias on their own. Finance the surgery! Do whatever you have to do but get the surgery!!!
