This is the second performance in the 2017 series of The Singer. The Singer is a Chinese competition for professional singers, by invitation only--Dimash was not only the youngest performer ever invited; he was also the first foreigner. Over a span of weeks, each singer performs--about 13 times--and 500 people in the audience act as judges to rank the different singers. The scores are totaled at the end of the competition to name the winner and runner-ups. Dimash came in 2nd, which is pretty darn good considering he was competing against well-known popular Chinese artists as an unknown dark horse candidate. But he won the hearts of the Chinese people--his first solo album release in China went platinum in 37 seconds. This show was his start to world-wide fame.

He's not the best of the world because of he's range.... He's the best because of the way he delivers the music, the way he performs and the knowledge of singing techniques with a beautiful voice... Opera 2 (story about a snow storm) is from Vitas, a russian pop singer, in the original he only shout those vocal high tones of the first "run" ... Dimash made 3 tones more and higher then Vitas... Yes, he has a vocal range out of this world (from F2 till D8), but there's many people like that and don't know what to do with it...They shout and whistle but nothing more... after a few days it's boring. Dimash is the best because even if you don't understand what he's saying, you'll understand the song... you'll still can smile, cry, yell, sing, shiver, and be emotional for days... and want to listen again, just because...That's why. Dimash Qudaibergen also is known now by he's healing voice... and I believe it's true. By the time you'll know who this person is and he's personality, you'll literally fall in love with him and became a Dear... The guy pumping his fist at the end was his father. His dad being in the audience was unknown to him until after the performance, and he said that if he’d known his dad was there he probably would have been less cheeky. In the longer clip from the show, he sees his dad, runs over and hugs him, and while they are walking backstage, he asks, “did I sing well?” So cute 🥰

I honestly and personally (my own personal opinion) believe, Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. Dimash is a respectful and kind young man; who always credits his Family and his Team for his achievements and successes. He is from Kazakhstan and will be 27 (in May 2021). Dimash has been formally training and performing for over 22 years. At the age of 5 years old it was determined he had perfect pitch. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide (bass to soprano to whistle register) vocal range and breath control. It is recorded that he has a range higher than Six (6) Octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller and Performer. Dimash calls his style an "Innovation" [Neo-Classic] in the Classical Crossover Genre.. Dimash combines many Styles such as Classical (Opera), Contemporary (Modern, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Rap), Estrada and traditional Kazakh folk music. All the other competitors are professionals with their own careers. Dimash is such a humble, unassuming person that they took him to their hearts, some became good friends. They gave medicine when he lost his voice later in the comp and brought him knee pads because Dimash often falls to his knees in a performance. He sings every genre from full serious opera,to pop and even rap. He loves to sing Kazakh songs.so Samaultau is excellent. Most people say Sinful Passion is a great follow on. Dimash sings many songs in English too. Across Endless Dimensions is fantastic. So it’s up to you whether you follow his journey on I Am Singer which was four years ago or choose a more recent diverse song. Enjoy the journey.

Had to watch it twice, even though I already knew it I kept focussing on Dimash' facial expressions... how he completely and totally masters his voice and he knóws it, and is thoroughly enjoying himself (and us). So I kept missing yóúr famous facial expressions, LOL! I love this song (already from when I discovered Vitas - you might want to take a small side step there- even though this version of Vitas' song is better), and I love your surprised reaction.

You note his almost flirty facial expressions in this vid. Much like his music genre and vocal styles, he takes on a different personality in each performance, you will see. In real life, if you watch interviews, etc, you see an extreme shyness, and an introverted, extremely modest young man. But he apparently does have a very playful side to him. But his demeanor so humble and subdued that when he makes jokes...he has to explain afterwards he was joking.... In this performance, the man you see in the audience is his Dad. Dimash was apparently getting homesick in China and his Dad flew in secretly, not telling Dimash so as to not "put extra pressure" on him in this second performance on the Singer. Dimash later admitted, that, if he had known his father were in the audience, he would NOT have acted so "cocky" on stage. Good thing he did...the audience LOVED it!

Dimash being 22 years old at the time, was the youngest participant in the history of the show, and competed against professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a ‘wildcard’ competitor. His mother later said, that Dimash had hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition, but he went all the way to the Finals. This pro competition has a full blown orchestra plus traditional Chinese instruments. Each competitor has about a week to rehearse their music and get a lot of support. This is Vitas's song. Not many people can do it at all. Dimash won't be doing it again because Vitas wasn't happy about it. Especially with the extra modulations and doing it slower, which means holding the high notes longer, which is hard. Kind of showed him up. But Dimash had to. This competition is based on everyone having to blow the socks off the audience each time - no prisoners!

Boy do I have things to tell you! The song you just heard opera 2 Was originally sung by a Russian artist name Vitas about 20+ years ago. Dimash has this song on record one more time and after that the lawyers of Mr. Vitas said cease and desist singing this song. Vitas only did the high notes four times but Dimash did it 10 times and I believe went up three different octaves during his performances. Yes this is a competition and yes you are the millionth person to say “if I were those guys I would just pack my bags and go home“. And this was his second performance during this 14 week competition called The Singer out of China. He was a wildcard that was invited to performer and compete with established Chinese performers.The man in the red lanyard that you will see three or four times was his dad and after this second performance agreed with Dimash to become his manager. Dimash is extremely family oriented and gets so much support from his grandparents who helped raise him and of course his mom and dad who are professional singers and musicians and well respected in the country of Kazakhstan where Di is from. The first reaction for most people is SOS from this competition or the Slavic bazaar which will totally derail you. My experience is over two years long and I actually published a fanbook about him in April. I have listened to him every day and I may have heard opera 2, Sinful passion and SOS over 1000 times apiece and I’m still not tired of them at all. There are dozens more that are as impressive as those. For now, do not worry about what language or even trying to find subtitles. That is not consequential right now.
