This song is based on a true story. There was a cable car accident and 14 people died. There was a young couple with their son and the father managed to lift their son to safety before the car dropped. The first time Dimash performed this he called the writer of the song who had adopted the young boy and spoke with her before he performed it. When Dimash performs this he definitely conveys the feeling of the young boy.

That's why, I want to share with you the story behind this song: "Daybreak is based on the true story of a couple who died saving their son's life. On October 1999, parents along with their 2.5-year-old son, traveled through a river canyon. They entered into a cable car that would travel towards the top of a mountain. Just before noon, the cable car reached the mountain top, over 100 meters in the air. When they began their descent, the cable car began careening out of control, speeding down the mountainside. Fearing for their son, the parents lifted him up in the air, above their heads, before the cable car crashed into the ground. They died saving their son's life. When Han Hong, a singer and song writer, heard about the accident, She was very moved by it and was inspired to write "Daybreak". She also adopted the child". To my knowledge, Dimash has only sang this twice. First time was on the competition in China 2017 called I Am Singer. Unfortunately, on the day he was singing this song, he had lost his voice. He was given injections in his throat, to get him through the performance and he felt he wasn’t able to deliver the song as well as he could (though, because of sad true story of the song, it made it even more poignant that he wasn’t well). So I think he wanted to perform it one more time, to give it everything the song deserved. If you go to Gloria Wu’s channel, she gives the background info to the song and shows footage of Dimage going to the hospital to get treatment,

I love this one,,, it was his first SOLO concert. not that long after 'The Singer ' series. You should watch those Singer episodes, in their order. It was his breakout time for international attention. I started watching him at the beginning of that Singer Series.

Around 35,000 fans came to Astana, Kazakhstan from many different countries to see this fantastic concert in 2017. This is one of the most moving performances. Kazajistán estuvo bajo el dominio de Rusia, mucha gente murió en los campos de batalla y también por hambruna… familiares d Dimash perecieron en esa guerra. Relativamente tiene pocos años de su soberanía como país libre. Por eso Dimash tiene tanto amor a su patria. La canción SAMALTAU habla de esa guerra… dice que es la canción que más se le dificulta cantar, no por su composición musical sino por lo que dice la letra.

By now you know a bit of the true story behind Daybreak. Even if you don't react to it ( but many do) you would be really interested in The Story Behind Daybreak from The Singer 2017 on Gloria Wu's channel. We all so appreciate your attention to the lyrics and the message of his songs. Believe it or not, there are reactors who do not turn them on....one had to apologize later because he laughed during Daybreak..., and others who are interested in only "That note was a C5." You get it and get Dimash. There are some songs where it really adds to the enjoyment knowing more about the songs..one was Samaltau and what Russia did to Kazakhstan in WWI. Another, I am sure coming up, is Adai and Daididau from the Bastau concert. It is about an imprisoned Kazakh poet and dissident, with one of their methods of torturing him to tell him his wife was leaving him. They executed him in 1938. Daididau was his nickname for her. There is a "Story behind Daididau on Gloria Wu's channel. The lyrics are from the letter he wrote her asking if it was true. For the song War and Peace he wrote the music and wanted lyrics in Chinese. Imagine him singing that song, as he did, in Beijing. A really moving performance was in Kiev, Ukraine in 2020...moving also watching that crowd who did not know war was coming to them. The story is that he used War and Peace for his masters thesis in composition. Sorry to go on, but I wish there was a way you could know a bit more about some of the songs before you listen. You always do get it from all of us after! Thank you for what you do and for loving Dimash as we do...

We should never forget the horrible things nor change the facts for feelings. It has to be truth regardless of how difficult that truth is. I see many things and one very troubling thing is the number of people who have zero knowledge of history. They can not answer one question about history, who fought what war, why etc. They can tell you a ton of information about things that have no bearing but nothing substantial. Troubling.
