Chef Venkatesh Bhat stands tall as Tamil Nadu’s much-loved culinary personality with an enormous following across the globe. A hugely popular television cookery show host, KZfaqr, whose channel ‘Venkatesh Bhat's Idhayam Thotta Samayal’ achieved prolific virality in a very short span of time, culinary powerhouse, entrepreneur and hospitality head honcho, he wears many hats. I know him from his time in Bengaluru over two decades ago. And so it was a pleasure to catch up with him after all these years over a memorable dinner at his vegetarian flagship restaurant, Royal Indianaa at The Accord Metropolitan in Chennai.
We spent a couple of hours eating, speaking of his journey, his mantra to success, his culinary philosophy, and lots more. Hope you find this special two-part episode as interesting as I did filming this conversation.

Wow you are going to dine at the Royal Indiana with your friend Chef Venkatesh Bhat 👍👍 Great memory by Chef to clearly mention that he last met you 17 years ago 👍As one of your subscribers correctly mentioned two story-tellers coming together and hence it might be a 2 part vlog . That’s been on spot 😀😀 Agree in the Marghazhi month - It is considered auspicious and is associated with various cultural and religious events in Tamil Nadu. The interesting conversation with Chef aside, the food at Royal Indianaa too, as you have rightly surmised, is the sort that impresses. Bengaluru seriously lack something like this in vegetarian. All we have here is mostly South Indian basic restaurants or North Indian restaurants who have no idea about varieties of Karnataka or south foods. Happy to watch this interview with Mr. Bhat.
