Everyone is talking about Ronnie who had a great voice but we should give Kerry his props, for composing this song and his spiritual awakening which is the theme of Seeds of Change. He truly is living for his King.
@ulrichprieser66983 жыл бұрын
I'll give him his props for his great music. But what is his "spiritual awakening" other than pure egoism. Just because he wanted to be side by side when he dies, with his God, he left all friends behind. To me religion is the highest level of egoism. And even if his God exists, does he really want his followers to give up normal life and worship him all his life? Why should an intelligent being, if not the most intelligent of all, want such a stupid thing?

To Live For The King This song is by Kerry Livgren, features Ronnie James Dio and appears on the album Seeds Of Change (1980) and on the compilation album The Best Of Kerry Livgren (2002). The rising of the sun is seen by everyone And no one can deny that it's real And when you hear the call come crashing through the wall You just can't doubt the things that you feel So lift me up, the time has come to sing And give up everything Oh, live for the king Though we fight against the rule, the genius and the fool Are born to labor under the law, yeah Before each man's a choice, reject it or rejoice The vision that the prophets are So lift me up, the time has come, we'll sing And give up everything To live for the king, oh (Living for the king) Living for the king, yeah (Living for the king) Walk with the king, talk to the king, yeah (Living for the king) Something greater than you and I is the king (Living for the king) Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, it's an easy choice (Living for the king) The time has come to sing, we're going to walk, walk with the king (Living for the king) Open your eyes, open your eyes, the writing's on the wall, don't you be denied (Living for the king) Reject it, rejoice, before each man's a choice

This was well sung by Dio, but it was Livgren who wrote the song that he rocked. Read the book for the rest. In 1980 Kerry Livgren released his first solo work, Seeds of Change, featuring vocalists Ronnie James Dio and David Pack of Ambrosia, drummer Barriemore Barlow, and guest spots by friends from Kansas. Also accompanying the album was Kerry's book of the same name. Together, they expressed the passage and resolution of Kerry's spiritual journey, often the subject of his songs with Kansas.

Dio's voice is so intoxicating, so mesmerizing, so captivating, so beautiful, so powerful, so Devin, so undeniably great, he sang with passion, with conviction, when he lent his voice to a song, he did not just sing it, instead he delivered it to us all, to all who were looking to take a journey as we let his voice take hold of us and guide us on that journey, each one receiving that intoxicating voice in his or her own way.😌

There was a lot of spiritual searching and experimenting going on (just read both Livgren and Dio's lyrics.... both deal heavily with spiritual matters - the same for Geezer Butler who was the primary lyricist for Black Sabbath prior to Dio's joining, and Bob Daisley, who was in Rainbow with Dio prior to joining and writing lyrics and songs for, Ozzy Osbourne after he left Black Sabbath.) So Kerry Livgren most likely was dabbling in things that could be called "Black Magic", just as tons of other people were. Astral Projection, Seances, Spiritual Channeling, Automatic Writing - all of those fall into the Black Magick category, and Kerry was into the "The Urantia Book" at the time.

And of course, breathtaking singing ability. He thought the Satanist Label was funny. That's why he called his Horned Character Murray. Like most true artists, he saw beyond the crutches of organized religion and that pure art and music were the path to higher existence. There is no power in your command to “shut up” directed at people who didn’t know Dio personally but had a connection to him thru his work. “Pure art and music were the path to higher existence” this statement would make Ronnie sad that is for sure. Ronnie like all of us, heard the gospel and knew without the power of the gospel he was departed from God, the one TRUE, LORD GOD. It was nothing to do with “pure art and music” it was the word of the Lord that convicted him to repent of his ways, believe in Jesus and as this song clearly lays it out - to LIVE a for the KING. It is written that when one person repents and turns to the Lord, All the HOST’ of Heaven REJOICE , that is how life changing Jesus IS. He is the only way to the father. Before Ronnie came to the Lord do you know what God said about the condition of the human heart ? God says that the human heart is Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (KJV) The Hebrew word translated “desperately wicked” has the idea of a terminal, incurable illness. God revealed this to Ronnie That is why Ronnie was able to sing this song from his “circumcised heart, his spiritual heart with power and TRUTH. No matter how close you were to Ronnie - one day you will stand before the Lord and Ronnie will not be there, no one will but you and God - don’t let another day pass, do what Ronnie did Let go of it all - confess to the Lord of your sins and accept his forgiveness and follow Jesus. Read the word of God daily Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. This is all that matters - to live with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

The truth speaks for itself, it's like a lion, you don't stand and defend it, you get out of its way. Time is short, it isn't about religiosity, it's about the condition of your heart. Not how many times you've said hail Mary, or even done good deeds. "For I am the way, the truth and the life....and no one gets to the father but through me." -Jesus Christ it's simple, renounce hate, renounce unforgiveness, and accept Jesus Christ into your heart, repent, turn from sin, love your neighbor, and that my friends will be the beginning of miraculous change, peace and joy and you'll find yourself in the greatest relationship ever. We can only hope Dio took the correct path to the father. We'll all find out one day soon, and if you haven't taken the correct path yourself by then, it's too late.

Not sure about Ronnie but Kerry was really into world religions and had somewhat of a spiritual awakening in the late '70s. He was reading a book called The Urantia which covered spiritual,physical and philosophical views. He ultimately rejected these teachings which were more like a cult and in the early '80s accepted Christianity as the one true religion. You can read about it in his book published in 1980 called Seeds of Change....
