Dion & The Belmonts were another great group from the late 50's-60's. They had some hits including "I Wonder Why", "No One Knows", "A Teenager In Love", "Where Or When" etc. Dion went solo & had some big hits such as "Runaround Sue", "The Wanderer", "Ruby Baby", "Lonely Teenager", "Donna The Prima Donna" ,"Drip Drop", "Lovers Who Wander", "Little Diane", "Abraham, Martin & John" etc.

This is from the 1961 movie "Twist Around The Clock" -- the people @ tables were "extras" used for the movie. You have to understand how it was back then. In the '50's & into the '60's adults, parents, had big hangups about many things & that is why when Elvis came along it caused such a tremendous fuss. Remember, all we had back then was our parents music, like Tony Bennet, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, & females like Rosemary Clooney (actor George Clooney's aunt) Dinah Shore. They may have had good voices but they performed like they had a dose of sedation - no one really moved. Then came the doo-wop groups & rock 'n' roll & we finally started to have "our own music" & didn't have to listen to our parents music, which was sooo boring. But even those groups did little movement. And finally when we listened to groups like Dion on records, we were able to get up & dance. In this movie here is what you are seeing about the behavior of the adults who did not understand this sort of "bouncy" music & many thought it was not nice. So imagine how it was for the adults when seeing Elvis. And this here is the movie portraying adults attitude toward this coming change in music. I grew up w-all of this -- i remember Elvis in 1954 when i was 11. I was lucky because my parents never saw anything wrong w-Elvis; my mother even said he's going to be very big one day -- maybe because my father was a drummer & my mother a dancer so they understood things differently. I danced professionally during this period & it was marvelous, happy, upbeat, not "put-you-to-sleep" type music.

The reason the audience is not responding is that this was from a movie. Wasn’t an actual live performance at a night club. Glad to see you reacting in such a positive and joyful way to a blast from the past!

The reason why the people are so quiet, because back in the day, it was a sign of respect to the singer not scream or talk during a performance. 😊
