@Ahmed Nader in term of numbers in the first 10 days you will notice 4 to 8 degree difference depends on what are you doing ( benchmarks are not a proper way to test the results you will reach the maximum ability of cooling for the copper heatsink anyway 🤷🏻 ) after awhile it will be 3 to 5 degree maximum .. i am using mx-4 thermal paste , if you follow the instructions slowly and don't panic you can get it done without any mistake .. just make sure to but the screws for each part in a bowl or something for each section .. i lost 3 screws for my bottom part but it is fine they are not that important anyway

@@XFROOS whats's the avg temperature of your CPU? Mine is always hot, even when using Windows Power Saving Energy plan, it's between 65C ~ 70C which makes it almost impossible to use its keyboard. I am thinking about paying somebody to change the thermal paste, do you think a good thermal paste could make it cooler (something around 50C?) I am also thinking about buying a new laptop.

changing the termal paste lowered ttemps by half! and increased GPU performance by 20% thanks !

FFS, lenovo designed this laptop very user unfriendly... Basicly you have to tear down the whole fucking laptop to just change the thermal grease...

Can you do the fix for a left speaker. There are thousands of people with this problem atm.

as i remember to fix this problem you need to reduce "Maximum processor state" in "Advanced Power Settings" to 99% from 100%, also for everyone who have nvidia drivers issues or games random turnoffs you need to reduce your videocards memory freequency for 200-250 MHz

Oh, man. What a process. My laptop definitely needs some help in the cooling department, though. Not throttling, but it's been getting hotter than I'm comfortable with even with my cooling pad.

Thank you for posting this video. Wish I had watch it earlier I could not remove the keyboard when I opened it, It only came out the plastic part that goes between the keys, I don´t know what I did wrong but I broke so many plastic tabs...grrrr

So... I had a couple of months since I played a game on the laptop. I decided to go ahead and play Assassin's Creed 3, which I've yet to finish. I remember playing the game around 50 FPS with 2 750m SLI last time played. To make the story short, I needed the 2nd card replaced after it getting fried (played watch dogs on a very hot day), and ended up getting 2 755m. I then start playing AC 3 and notice how my FPS start to dwindle to 23. I launch a temp monitor and see how the main card skyrockets to 92 - 98 °C in an instant. After 3 hours of disassembling and assembling I've managed to put the paste (I lost some screws and didn't know how to properly connect the keyboard hehe) I did apply some cleaning to the plates and added an Artic MX-4 to the mix. Result: From 92 - 98 °C I went to 69 - 81°C. (755m) Processor stayed the same @ 75°C From 23 FPS to 55 - 60 FPS in AC3. I checked some previous games which I was playing a couple of months ago and they are performing 10x better!! And I was wondering why Brothers a Tale of Two sons stuttered sometimes... The whole performance of the computer has improved, and the device feels cooler and games do not stutter anymore. One more thing: When I disarmed the machine, the paste was not dry, which means that the OEM paste is crap.(at least this refurbished one)

+superjosereborn2 I KNEW IT. I have the refurbed 750m SLI version of the Y510p, and occasionally get artifacting (usually GTAV), and I have odd slowdown on games that shouldn't have any slowdown at all (Super Hexagon, Terraria), while games like The Witcher 5 and MGSV run at 45 and 60 fps, respectively. I knew it had to be the fucking shit OEM paste. Going to buy some Arctic MX-4 and carefully follow this guide. I'll report back if successful.

@@TheShoxter maybe cyan - Has no laptop to respond on ;-) rip refurbed Y510p I'm pretty sure l'm having the same issue. I normally like doing repairs myself but for 60$ at my local shop. its on them. their are back up for a month because of school. report back in a month

havent clean my y510p like 3 years. I tried opening the back cover but one of the screw got stuck. Its spin but wont come off what should i do?

Use the precision flat screwdriver to pull the screw up, at the same time try to rotate it with philips (cross, that is) screwdriver counter-clockwise to remove.

Hello, I did everything accordingly, but after re-assembling, my laptop is not turning on...while reassembling the connection from the power button, the blue part got out of adhesive and was differentiated, then i used glue to fix it, but there's no power now, please help

you should try to recheck all cables are connected properly, and ram too, (i always foregetting about cpu cooler cable) after this try to check is power button is woking with multimeter, try to turn on your laptop without battery and without 2nd gpu, you also can try to turn it on by short circuting power connector on mb as i remember there 4 pins cable 2 for led and 2 for power

@@alf01111 all cables are connected properly, but i think the blue part of the power cable is causing the problem now...I tried using the novo button to turn on, tried turning on without battery (mine is non-SLI version)...It gets power tho, if i plug it with the battery, the battery gets charged

I was cleaning the fan, I did exactly the same thing to disassembly the fan but after I put everything together the speakers wont make a sound.. everything else works just fine, except for the speakers. any clue for what might have happened?!

it's should be easy , dont forget unlock 2(TWO!!!) latches - 1st under the battery and 2dn on the center of the laptop (you shold hold it while removing 2d video card)

Can someone help me with just disconnecting the display completely so that it forces the laptop to boot to an external display either via hdmi or via the vga port. I have manually unplugged the larger fat connector that I found just by opening the back panel i.e. beside the fan area! Urgent help needed to reinstall Windows 10. @alf01111 If you're watching this please help. You have shot the video amazingly. Just that what part does what I don't know. Need basic knowledge to just unplug the display and get bios running on my external monitor.
