My solution for feeling like I haven’t accomplished anything over the year was to write a note every time I was happy or proud of myself and put it in a jar and then read them all at the end of the year. Your brain is hardwired to find bad things in order to protect you. Have to make an effort to re wire it and make better habits to basically be nicer to yourself.

I see I'm not the only one who discovered that Sean's a ghost in the podcast version. I listen while walking my dogs in the morning and for the entire hour it sounds like Ethan is just straight into his schizo arc. Though huge props, because even with only half a conversation he's still very entertaining.

I am 34 and have been summoned for jury duty six times in the last 12 years while living in Illinois. The first four times, I specified that I had no access to childcare, and never had to go. The fifth time, it was settled or whatever, so I never had to go. The final time, they sent a questionnaire, and one of the questions asked if anyone in your family had a felony record, was in prison, etc. My dad has spent the majority of my life in prison. That excused me from all future jury duties, apparently!

My word for 2024 is "Focus." I finally got an ADHD diagnosis at the end of 2023 and started medication for it and being able to focus and Do Task is quite honestly fucking amazing. But also I want to focus on my interpersonal relationships, interests and hobbies. I've just sort of been...floating through life the last few years and finally getting treatment for ADHD has instilled a new sense of hope in me.

Fun fact about 2023 it was my first time ever going out of the country because I wanted to go see Eef in Dublin so I booked the trip but still went because I couldn’t cancel the trip and it ended up being the best time with my (now) fiancé and we are getting an airbnb in Dalkey for our honeymoon this year ❤️ so thank you for at least planning on touring in Dublin to give me a reason to push a visit to a new country 😂

2024 is the year I'm getting my driver's license too, I'm not the same age as Sean but gosh it's about time 😭

Honestly it's kinda hard to hold much to the "Steamboat Willy" title, the short came out at a time when cultural sensitivity was the last thing on Disney's mind. I mean shortly after (five years I think) the same version of Mickey stars in a short called "Mickey's Mellerdrammer", which is basically Mickey and his friends in a minstrel show. It's on KZfaq if you want to watch it btw. So yeah, Seán has a point about how plantation owner-y the title sounds. Granted, it's not nearly as bad as other shorts, or even the worst cases in Disney's lineup imho. There's "Scrub Me Mama with a Boogie Beat" from Universal (also on KZfaq), Uncensored Fantasia (the Centaur), Dumbo (opening credits song and the literal Jim Crows), and Song of the South (which is like the one universally banned Disney film) are far bigger contenders for that specific genre of racism. Regardless of what people do with it or call it, I personally can't really unsee that version of Mickey or any similar one with blackface.

On the podcast version, I was really starting to worry about Ethan😂

The next two years in gaming is going to go hard. Im exited for The First Descendant, Selaco, Once Human, and Ashes of Creation (its just a play test so far this year). A allot of games that i can sink hundreds of hours into. The wiki page of upcoming games barely even list anything of what's actually coming out. Only about 10 minutes into the episode and don't know if anyone has already commented this or if you mention it later in the episode, but the Mickey Mouse cartoon is named that as a spoof on a Buster Keaton movie from the same year called Steamboat Bill Jr. The plots have nothing to do with each other, they just both involve a steamboat. It's a good silent movie and pioneered a lot of classic gags, such as a barn wall falling down and Keaton escaping unscathed by standing directly where the window is and using a loaf of bread to sneak in tools to help someone escape from jail.

I would absolutely love for Sean to do a Red Dead series. I often go back and find playthroughs of my favorite games (Red Dead 2 being one of them) to watch when I want to experience the story again but don't have the time or commitment to play it all the way through again and there really aren't any playthroughs of rdr or rdr2 from the people I watch on youtube.

My new years "goal" is to simply get through this year. I wanna do well on my school tests and assignments, as it's my final year of high school! 21:40 First time I went to Jury Duty. I got into the courtroom but wasn't picked and then the guy we were there for had a medical emergency so it was cancelled then and there. Also yes, you can be picked multiple times in the US. (My aunt and Gma have been called a lot but most of the time they've been cancelled)

As a furry, the whole furry bit was stupidly hilarious. Bless, also yes Fursuit cleaning is a whole thing. As someone aspiring to be a maker, I have to take account making a suit easy to clean for the accessibility. Material has to be high quality that it won't get damaged or have the seams pop. Reasons why suits are so expensive. It's not easy to make and materials cost so much. Also, since this is me reaching outside the fandom, most folks who are furries don't have fursuits. Fursuits are luxury items and most of us don't have one. Just they are easy to focus on in the same way cosplay is easy to focus on for Anime. It's an easy visual shorthand. Second not everyone has a fursona! Most of us do, I do (it's a dragon), but furries are just folks who like anthropomorphic animals. Fursonas are just a way to express that. Furries have a ton of sub groups for different animals, not everyone is a dog (though there is a huge percentage imbalance of folks who have canine fursonas versus other species). Me being a dragons are called Scalies, their is Avians for bird fursonas, and recently insects/bugs are making it on the scene (I think it's cool cause bugs are such weird animals, encourages creativity). But yea. Also to just get it out the way, no we all don't want to f animals. That's a zoophile, that's a crime. Not everyone does horizontal mambo in suits, suits are expensive and not easy to clean and repair. Some folks do cause obviously a lot of adults are furries and they can have their fun. NSFW art is popular in the fandom, I won't lie to ya. But a vast majority of art in the fandom isn't NSFW. That stuff is just very clickbaity and easy to mock. Has that shock value I think. I as an asexual want to not be part of the NSFW of the fandom. I just like the cool art and creativity in the community. Also no, furries don't think they are animals/believe they were animals in a past life. Those are called Therians/Otherkin. There is a big overlap of the groups but not everyone is Therian & Furry. Also please don't hate on Therians, most are not like the weird outliers who go viral. Just be nice to folks, a lot fo them are chill. Also hey, if ya a fellow in the fandom seeing this! HEYO FRIEND! Anyways, yea, the love the jokes about furries cause as a furry I MAKE THE SAME JOKES. Being a furry is just a silly hobby, we're here to have a fun time, so heck I don't gotta be all serious. Mocking a furry is not the same as saying a slur, but also just be nice. You look stupid if ya make fun of someone for their hobby. In the UK you can be called for jury duty many times unless you've served on a case that's particularly heinous and the judge dismisses you for life. You could possibly get out of it because of your public standing. I can't serve because I have SMI and a hatred for law enforcement lol

I just had jury duty in Detroit on Monday. 1st day back after the new year. 200+ people. Our group had like 50 people go in for like 6+ counts for a child predator. I never even got called up to interview after being stuck inside for 7 hours.
