Planes - 2013
Dusty is a small-town plane who dreams of one day competing as a high-flying air racer. However, poor Dusty has two strikes against him: He's not built for racing, and he's terribly afraid of heights. To achieve his dream, Dusty turns to naval aviator Skipper. Skipper helps Dusty qualify to take on Ripslinger, the race circuit's defending champion. Dusty's courage faces the ultimate test, as he takes aim at heights he never dreamed were possible.

When I saw the crop dusting scene I first thought “are they paid to fart on the plants that the cars eat?” Then I thought “wait don’t they eat gas, not plants?” Then I thought “wait, isn’t gas dinosaur fossils?” Then I thought “wait, does this mean that there were car dinosaurs” then I thought “are they technically eating car dinosaur corpses?” Then I stopped thinking.

I went to watch this movie when it first came out. I was younger, and while walking to the theater's entrance with my family, I tripped and got a huge scrape that covered effectively my entire knee and I freaked out hard. We were about 10 minutes late to the movie because of that. That whole story really isn't that important, it's just the ONLY THING I CAN REMEMBER ABOUT THIS MOVIE.

I went to live with my Grandma when I was 14. A month later, in time for my birthday, this came out. She asked me if I wanted to see it and I said sure. I didn't HATE it, in fact I thought it was fine, but nearly 8 years has passed and I literally have never thought: "You know, I'd like to watch Planes again."

I just realized upon rewatching this film Skipper must have been a horrible teacher in the Navy as in his back story he says that he trained all of his rookies personally and that they were all "Razor sharp" yet the ship they looked at and called "Easy pickings" and decided to attack was either a Musashi or Yamato class battleship... Skipper's personally trained squad looked at the largest battleships built in WW2 and called it "EaSy pIcKiNgS".

If they had those rockets then maybe but they dont have any ship fighting capabilities. They were skirmishing planes made to escort bombers and stuff. They were supposed to reprt back and were being retarted. They were underequipped, underfueld ( they werent equipped with enough fuel to sustain a fight. ), and they were probably mentally ill!!!

This was made by DisneyToon Studios the same studio that made the straight to dvd sequels of Disney films like Lion King and Aladdin, Winnie the Pooh spin-offs, and the TinkerBell movies. They shut down in the beginning of June in 2018.

He’s not afraid of heights in the same way people are. He specifically said that he had never flown over a thousand feet; not very high for a plane, but more than enough to go over all but the tallest skyscrapers. In fact there’s actually a good reason for an aircraft to be afraid of heights: the higher you go, the thinner the air, get too thin and your engine will flame out. The Cessna Ag-Wagon, for example, cannot go higher than 11,000 feet.

ngl I think Franz Flygenhozen (the little green car at 9:06 ) would have made a much more compelling protagonist, he's a roadable aircraft and his whole bit is about how he was built as a car but doesn't like to tie down his identity to "car" or "plane" and feels comfortable switching between labels on a whim They should have made a movie about him instead, honestly. Watching his struggles to fit into a society where people's functions are defined at birth would be much more compelling than Cars: In the Sky

Fun fact: The radar chatter from the naval fighter jets (cursed combinations of F/A-18s and Su-27s) is actually very accurate to real-life. This movie is more accurate with radar chatter than Top Gun...

Another thing that makes this similar to Cars, the green antagonist is played by someone who plays Batman, Michael Keaton plays Chick Higgs and played Batman in Batman 1989 and Batman Returns, and uh... The Green antagonist in this film is played by Roger Craig Smith, who plays Batman in Batman Arkham Origins...

I love how this movie straight up contradicts Cars 3 where they couldn't increase Lightning's speed by upgrading his engine and instead tried trainings but in this movie they clearly show that it is possible to upgrade vehicles' parts and increase their stats

Fun fact: Skipper is an F4U Corsair. This plane filled the interceptor role, and was nicknamed “Whistling Death” by the Japanese. This was most commonly used in the pacific campaign. It was originally supposed to be an aircraft carrier based plane. Like I said, fun fact

Honestly I was okay with planes. I was a child so I didn’t really have an advanced outlook on it. And it helped me bond with my plane-mechanic step dad☺️

I'm surprised you didn't mention the worst, weirdest and most absurd thing of the movie: The Eyes of the cars and Planes are the windows, but the protagonist is still able to look into the cockpit, which means that he is literally looking inside of his body. I just watched the second movie, but here at 11:23 you can see what I mean
