Four had to look away, he did that right before the killed the innocent in his fear landscape. If Tris didn’t pull his head towards her, he would have shot her. But that was his worst fear. You can see him shaking.

No, he looked away because he had just fought the serum and was trying to quietly observe what was going on. This is when he realized what was happening and who was behind him. This is also what made Tris realize he was ok even before he said her name. That’s why at the end, she tells him to “go”, as in Tris knew that Four had figured out who was behind him. Basically, “Fight them. I’ve got your back.”

Sophia Espenilla this scene doesn't follow the book. I don't think he actually could hear her. Even Jeanine said "He can't hear you." Here he "wakes up" because Tris grabs his chin and makes him look at her since for the movie he says that for his fear of killing innocent people he can only do it if he looks away. It's obviously not like that in the book though but the changes to this scene for the film still make sense...to me, at least lol

This is my all time favorite Divergent scene, especially in the book. “It’s ok, I love you, it’s ok, I love you. It’s me.” Even after they gave Four the serum, he fought it. All he had to do was hear her voice. They are both Divergent and I love them so much🥰

Not both of them are Divergent.. Only Tris is -- with that Genetic healing stuff. In Allegiant it was told that there were some rare cases in which a person is genetically damaged but still he/she could represent a feature of divergent and that feature is manipulating simulations. And Tobias is one of those rare people.

It was his third fear. If you notice, when Four allowed Tris into his fear landscape, he showed her four fears....fear of heights, fear of confinement, his fear of having to shoot the unnamed girl and finally fear of his father, Marcus. When he's overcoming the third fear, if you look very closely, you will notice the girl has a tattoo on her collarbone that looks very similar to Tris's bird tattoo....and the only way for Four to finish that fear is to shoot her. That's why when Tris pointed the gun at her own head instead of at Four he immediately took the gun as he did in the fear landscape, but he didn't shoot her. It was enough when she surrendered to him for Four to overcome the fear and he realized it was Tris and not the Dauntless soldier Jeanine had programmed him to fight.

I wonder if that’s also a symbol that our fears make us human and that that’s not always something to be ashamed of. If the fear hadn’t woken him up and brought him back to his senses, he would’ve killed Tris and had to live with it.

On another note, I just realized that in the fear landscape, Four told Tris that he couldn’t kill the innocent girl without turning away from her every time. Here, Four looks away from Tris as he’s about to shoot, and she pulls his head back so that he can’t avert his gaze. He can’t shoot Tris while looking at her.

I wanna know what goes through Four's head when he manipulates the simulation. He thought he was fighting a Dauntless soldier but when he gets out of the simulation, he sees Tris and realizes that it was her the whole time and he was trying to fight her and he hurt her.

I think they had to do it this way for the film because they had to cut a few scenes, but I still prefer the book fight sequence. After Tris went through Tobias' fear landscape, she started to call him Tobias. It was their thing, their secret which they should've kept in the film. Also after they went through Tobias' fear landscape, he looked at her in awe of how brave she was against something he was so ashamed of. I think it's one of the reasons he fell in love with her.

He wasn't going to kill her looking in her eyes and she knew that. She pointed the gun to her head to make him come close to her . Then when he was going to shoot her looking away , she turned his head and made him look in her eyes. That made him come back. You can see in his eyes when he snaps out of it and realizes it's her. One of the best scenes in the movie

Four was a victim of MK ultra. Tris was given the “jab” but she was able to use TRUTH and LOVE as her compass and choose selflessly. This is what what woke four up. Was her seeing past the illusion and gaining victory over the enemy by her enhanced discernment. She needed trauma to also awaken the savior within her

Best relationship I've seen and I personally dont care about relationships in movies about a girl and a boy. But this was good. Although they screwed it completely when she cut her hair and had short hair....long hair looks best.

I'd say based on what I listen to from the book and watching the scene I would only say that the choreographers did as best they could with whatever they could because just listening to the author describe the fight It was hard to figure out what was going on so I think the choreographers did a good job with what they had if I recall though the fight ends slightly differently she's pinned up against the wall by four and he's holding the gun to her head it's her voice that brings him back not his fear because she's the only one That knows fours real name I believe it's her saying his real name that brings him back because he was able to snap himself out of it and the whole reason why they fought in the first place was because Tris wouldn't kill him in the first place they had guns targeted at each other and the serum that the divergence are given makes your friends as enemies and your enemies as friends so four wasn't able to recognize that it was Tris until she said his real name and that's what like snapped him out of it at least that's the theory because even in the book for didn't understand how he snapped out of it That was his best guess was she said his name and then he snapped out of it It didn't have to do with his fear
