18:53 to clear everything up, that woman wanted Tris to choose Abnegation so the higher ups wouldn't suspect Tris of being a Divergent because that woman marked Tris's results as showing beliefs/values of the Abnegation sector even though Tris's actual results were inconclusive (meaning she's a Divergent)...but obvi the woman couldn't put Tris's results as Divergent since the higher ups would most likely have killed Tris for that...thus, that woman wanted Tris to choose Abnegation so it would match up the results that she marked down because as it was mentioned in the movie, the test results are what helps lead people in choosing their sector...therefore, since Tris chose Dauntless, the higher ups would most likely start to wonder why she didn't choose Abnegation even though that's what the woman wrote down in Tris's test results and it's rare that people choose a sector other than the one they got from their test results

Funny reaction! I have often liked the first half of a superhero’s movie, with the discoveries and fish out of water feelings. So it makes sense that I really enjoy this film lol. I guess I like training and stuff like that in movies, a new environment, and getting to know different dynamics between people. But I can see (1/2 of) you might not enjoy that if it isn’t your thing. XD I also like the first two movies in this series because of its portrayal of authoritarian institutions and how people don’t realize the limits of their society until they start to push beyond it. Raised from birth to think a certain way, probably genetically engineered to an extent (humans don’t fall into those specific categories though they are very group oriented, so it seemed a bit more symbolic or alternative than a portrayal of literal humans as we are now-as you note). Plus that those kinds of regimes are run by people like jerks in this movie (but worse) lol. They aren’t exactly well-intended and are driven by the desire to control others. Sometimes cruelty is part of their persona as well, not entirely hidden, because that of course helps with controlling others.

i read the series, and the movie isn't that bad. everyone rags on it but there are worse book to film adaptations. the last one is def the furthest from the books but to me, the first two are good. idk i feel like the kind of movie this is, you had to have read the books to really get the FULL story cause they only have so much time in the movie so they cut out a lot of details and storybuilding. there is a lot that isn't explained or they just passed over. but tris and four were casted perfectly. janine is pretty accurate as well.
