Thanks Sally. Perhaps the Itty bitty bag video would be suitable for this wrap. I've also given this one a name change. "Dining Scarf" is so much more dignified 😄

What a simple idea, I agree with some nicer colours in a nursing home though, it would something for them to look forward to. There is a group here local to me on the book app called ‘dining scarves not adult bibs’ which is another take on it (I know there are many but a great community if anyone was looking to do some volunteer makes) looking forward to the chemo cap, gosh I just smile when I see a video is up from you!

Thanks Jenny, and "Dining Scarves" is a great name. Much more dignified. 😀 I think if I sell them, I might call them that too if that's ok😊

Yes, as a caregiver we were instructed to say "clothing protectors" I am glad to hear "dinning scarves". Thanks for the instructions Christine.

I am the messiest eater because we don’t have a dining table. I keep saying I need to make myself one but with a catcher on the bottom, I’m not old lol. I shake a lot sometimes, so this would help.

It could perhaps be lined with ripstock material to make it waterproof. Nice one again Christine xxx

That's a great idea Tina. I had queried the nursing home about the thin fabric, and they said they didn't have an issue (I thought it needed waterproofing too). I think once fed, the bib would be removed immediately after.😀

These would be great made from pretty doona covers from op shops. Even double the thickness if you got the fabric cheap enough. I think I could make a few for our local nursing home and drop them off. Also looking at a walker carry-all pattern. Gotta plan for my future 😉

When I needed a pouch for my mom to connect to her walker I bought quilted type placemats at a local thrift store. I cut one up for the straps and sewed the others together. ( I had 5) made two pouches. ❤️They worked perfectly when she went to get her mail.

Hi Christine. Thank you for the Lovely project . Just what I needed my hair cutting gown has started to fall apart. I only cut my husbands hair, I’m not a hair dresser, but its nice to Keep the hair off of his clothing. I agree with you about the colours for the bibs, not nice being dowdy. Take care Christine. Hi, I am a social worker, my interests lie with adult with disabilities. Please call the adult “bib” a clothes protector instead. This language is more inclusive than “bib.” Great video subject. I appreciate you sharing this inspiration.

I love watching your videos! I struggle so much with skipped stitches whenever I try to sew hook and loop tape to my projects. Do you have any suggestions? I use a universal needle or a jeans needle. I have a brother sewing/quilting machine. Model is SQ9285. Thank you in advance!
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Suzanne. I'm not sure what the solution would be for the skipped stitches. I usually use Universal or Jeans needles as well. It could be the thread. I know I have a lot more trouble with skipped/shredded stitches when I use cheap cotton or overlocker/serger thread on my machines.😀 A longer stitch (about 2.8 - 3.0mm) length will help too

Hi Suzanne, I found out several years ago to only use a polyester thread for 'Velcro' install. I had the same thing happening with my Janome and cotton threads. You can use any needle from a 90/14 up to jean, or a SHARP universal, as long as the thread is a poly or poly blend. I keep a black, white and a tan spool just for this application. And it's great for buttons as well.

This is great! But I'm a hairdresser, and must say, this would not be good for my job. Our aprons need to be polyester or nylon, and tied to our waistline. And the client cape needs to cover whole lap, arms and back. So for eating, yes, salon work no. 😊
