Very nice project. One tip. I would cut the PVC pipe all the way through and hot glue or wrap sturdy tape around it before filling with concrete. This would also make the mold reusable. Also, spray the insides with cooking spray for easy removal.

Wow! What a clever idea! The design is so ambiguous that with minimal effort one could simply change the LED colors w remote or swap the light strand and decorate for any holiday! Except maybe Labor Day- I have no idea how that one would work... cover it with sweat pants or something? ha ;) Great tutorial!
@joseofno
@joseofno 7 жыл бұрын
you can save the PVC piping by applying baby oil to the inner walls of it, once you've let the concrete cure, simply tap it a few times with the mallet to free the mold! some concrete pros use baby oil, vaseline and even butter you can also use cooking oil or Pam! :P lol

If its for indoors and you want a soft look, try inkjet refill ink. It provides a very rich soft colour. You could also try acrylic paint, add to the water prior to mixing. Coloured chalk added to the dry mix might look pretty good too.

You could use melamine, hot glue the center and the outer PVC to the board. You could also glue a small piece of dowel for the wire channel. Spray a little WD40 on the inside before pouring in the concrete. You can also add concrete pigments for different bases.
