EVERYBODY always says how it's "easy" to polish out an acrylic crystal on a watch and that YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF with no problems whatsoever!!!
It's time to put that theory to the test!!!
Watch and learn haha, or maybe don't...
Let's see if I managed to make things better or did I ruin the crystal completely...

1000 grit sandpaper makes the polishung easier when you remove the deep scratches.

I have the 2019 version and although it has sapphire, I really like the distortion you get with acrylic on the vintage one. Good job on that!

to remove scratches by polishing, you got to wear of the thickness equal to the depth of the scratch. otherwise you will have smooth, but uneven surface. at least it goes like that with metal. however I'd start with 800 and then go 1200 and higher upto 2000 and then use polishing paste and buffer :) apparently the acrylic glass is soft enough and the depth of the scrathes were not so big and polishing paste managed to remove enough material to get that quite even surface in the end. good job!

I have in the past removed some deep scratches using Brasso... T.- Cut would do similar job... I usually wrap the cloth around my fingers and with much patience work away at the surface.. I have had amazing results using this method. . Patience is required, but the results have made it very worthwhile and very satisfying... Saved me monies too..

Glad you stuck with the paste. As you know I’ve done many of these and what you find with abrasive paper is that on a domed crystal you can take it out of round and create flat spots which you only then see in certain light reflections which then drive you crazy. With a paste you are working with friction and almost burnishing the surface. It’s harder but more consistent . I never bother with cloths and only use cotton wool pads like the ones my wife uses for makeup removal. Wool in itself is an abrasive. Good work and I am happy you got the result you wanted. With case or crystal work you usually have to realise that to make it better you have to make it worse first! Trust in the product and your own ability. I’m surprised a replacement crystal was not available , acrylic are generally available and cheap. Just need some measurements from it

The way I do it is that I use soft nail file that has 6 or seven gradations. Harder to finest. And at the end polywatch. But this is also great result.

Local hardware store, it's just a cheap metal polish paste called Purol in my country

If in UK then Solvo Autosol is best metal polish (will do acrylic an plastic too)

I have used polywatch on a Gshock mineral crystal. I didn't think it would work but it did. It depends on the depth of the crystal.

It's just a regular cheap metal polishing paste in "fine" grade

Try using toothpaste to buff out the scratches. Works fine.

Oh man, a little bit of polish on these acrylic crystals does absolute wonders hey? For deeper scratches I recommend that same sand paper but use it wet and go up the grades then finish with a polish. That devil diver is fantastic! I think I asked you before at the unboxing but you never replied :-) so I can ask again - wanna sell it????

hey how would you compare this with poliwatch? as i tried with that put with very little results, is the product you are using better? great videos btw, love te g shock tutorial videos

Poliwatch works better for buffing out scratches, but a simple tube of polish is good enough for tiny scratches and polish the acrilic crystal to it's shiny state. Works well on my 97 Swatch. Do note that I don't use Sandpaper, too much risk imo

Never had the chance to try Polywatch, this is just an ordinary metal polish, but a fine grade and it did WONDERS considering how little effort I put into it

Yes back then they did this individual lettering more espensive, now this all-in-one letters all joined up looks crap, cheaper do it & cut corners, so where else them cut corners? It say a lot about the new manufatcher they can shove it up ass.
