This project is the first part of my shop conversion/renovation. A proper place to store tools and hardware was long overdue. I hope this will keep things organized and help me to be motivated to adjust my behavior and clean up after myself more frequently😁

Huge thanks to:
-My mother in law, who saved the old flooring from the local dump!
-Gary Dean, who recently supplied me with a lot of scrap material!
-Hywel, who helped me out by sanding a lot of my material for hours!

I'm a retired Plumber with ADHD, so you are the perfect person to help me help myself! I have a double garage that looks like yours and I'm gonna follow your examples with everything your doing! Starting with the tool chest! Thank you Adrian 👍

That's it. I'm coming to apprentice with you!! Another magnificent piece...that was very satisfying to my OCD/organizational tendencies (when I give them license). That wrench drawer!!

Haha! You are always welcome here! I could use someone with organizational skills!😄 (believe it or not, making the holders for the wrench drawer almost took me half a day alone! I need a day to be 48 hours...)

Absolutely beautiful! And lets face it you can't beat the price and you have a true heirloom to pass down. Also the the thought you put within your design to build within tolerances for expansion and contraction is truly genius. I would like to ask though could the drawers be affected by the same expansion / contraction ? Thanks again for always sharing your work, wisdom, and skills,

Thank you! Yes, good observation, the drawers will be affected as well. That means the height could change a bit throughout the seasons. The wood will not shrink lengthwise so it won't put preassure on the drawer bottoms. (I installed them without glue and gave them 1/8 of an inch play anyways, so they would be fine in case of some unexpected movement.) I made the big bottom drawers from scrap oak plywood to minimize the movement on those. The shrinkinge/expansion on the other drawers won't be enough to be noticed due to the short hight. I also coated them generously in double boiled linseed oil which should help to keep them from cracking while they shrink/expand.

Wow! Very cool. BTW, did you complete your houseboat Adrian?

Thanks! No I haven't touched the boat since two months now and won't for the next two either, as it looks like of right now. Summer is very busy around here, we run a farmer's market garden which is a lot of work and I picked up a couple side jobs as well. And I promised myself to finally attack the giant mess in the garage/shop, it is not a place where I can work efficiently anymore nor is it a healthy environment, I have to figure out how to deal with all the fine dust. Once all of that is done I will get back to the boat. My hope is to get the exterior finished enough to be able to move it out of the garage before the winter. We will see how that works out, it definitely is a long-term project😄
