My brother was trying to get rid of a dishwasher and no one wanted it. It was in good working order so I couldn't just let him throw it out. I let it sit in my garage for 2 or 3 years then decided I needed to make it into a parts washer. This originally made a debut on the Subaru valve cover leak repair video, but here we go in depth on how we got this to work and end up surprising ourselves with some cleaned up parts (and gas cans!)!!

Add a cheap $20 whole house filter to your inlet pump line. It'll keep your cleaning solution and dishwasher parts cleaner

I use a 2 smaller stainless steel filters of different mesh sizes on my ultrasonic cleaner for reusing the solutions and works great. I will be doing the same for my washers I'm building.

Hi Adam, Great how to video . Thank you for the demo on how to do a closed loop solution system. I have been searching for the info on the relay you used and how to wire it. There is a mention from you that you will post it in the community section but I cant locate it? Thanks and keep up the great content. Cheers

Thank you so much! I have a brand new, as of 2021, Samsung DW that decided it doesn't want to cooperate with the electronic panel reporting some issue. I replaced it (happy wife...) so now I plan to get my $$$ worth in the workshop. Seeing how most of the DW is plastic I would be curious to see how long it lasts with some of the cleaning solutions. Also, I think there is a cycle where it flushes the old "dirty water" then cycles new "clean water". It might be interesting to see if there would be a way to gravity feed clean water or clean solution as a final rinse. Last, I believe there is a food trap or screen to remove larger chunks when cycling solution. I'm guessing you will need to watch this pretty close for debris. Again, thanks!

So far it has held up well, I also run a few cycles of clean water thru it after a real dirty job to flush it out. Good point on looking at the food screen, I’ll take a look at that!

Cool idea! I wonder if you could run a vinegar solution to clean the surface rust on those steel parts.

Not a bad idea, might be worth a try! Would probably need to soak a little.

This is perfect. I have a solvent washer but it's not exactly perfect. Going to try something like this.

Awesome, I did sort of the same thing, but it didn't work so well. Using the solution with the de-foamer in a closed loop like that is brilliant! I never knew that a de-foamer existed, what brand is it so I can get some? Thanks, great video!

Hey Adam, do you know of a way to bypass the thermostat on a dishwasher? I don't need it to heat up, it just kills time and electric. I've been looking all over and as you can imagine there isn't much need for someone to do this so I'm not finding anything. Thanks again!

If it’s like most of them I’ve seen theres a spade connector that slides onto the heating element that you could probably just disconnect and tape up (don’t want a bare wire floating there or touching the floor!) Should run underneath to where the element goes through the bottom of the tub. Make sure the washer is disconnected from power when you tape it off though because it’s probably 110V going to that element.

I bought a dishwasher off of marketplace for $20 and it’s been working absolutely amazingly. Have you had any issues with dirt causing the bottom spray arm not to spin? Mine clogs up so easy. Thanks for the vid!
@AdamPE21
@AdamPE21 7 ай бұрын
Yes, have had it happen a few times, but I will blow out the dirt and run a few fresh water cycles to help cleanse it. Even if the arm doesnt spin, the hot simple green seems to clean things up well

Suppose I could try but someone on here mentioned it could corrode various metals. Chose simple green because its a known motor oil/grease cleaner and used in other cleaning systems
