Love open shelving. Never fond of tons of cupboards except in a pantry and butler pantry. Lots of cupboards make kitchen feel smaller. Did you ever see the movie, “Bringing Up Baby” with Kate Hepburn? LOVE that house especially kitchen. So open and airy and perfect for mobility impaired.

@@HeartandHomeCrew hope you won’t be disappointed in movie. It’s nothing magical but I love kitchen because you can roller skate in it. No island! A kitchen table which is my preference. The house does a history of fans including some executives wife wanted a duplicate home for herself.

Nice job … you can always change the bead board out for tile down the road, if you so choose. At least with that type of backsplash it leaves options … especially as your tastes mature and you want a new look, to freshen up the home … or a room! I thought you were going to duplicate the shelves in the pantry … the darker stain colour. I got to thinking once you paint your cupboards that’ll be a lot of white in the kitchen. But then again you may have been going for a more subtle look … the darker stain would for sure draw one’s eye straight to it! You made it look simple but it no doubt wasn’t that easy. But certainly easier than doing tile backsplash! It to mention is you change the look the cost will be so much less than if you changed things down the road. I personally would replace the cupboard faces to a bead board and then install a ceramic tiles … or a tin backsplash to match the tin ceiling! Yes … I have lofty ideas! I’d also consider different kinds of tin ceilings for the other rooms! Tends to lend itself to century homes! I like how you’re trying to tie the entire house in together! It’ll look so beautiful once you’ve completed all the renovations. That’s one thing about character homes, if that’s the style you’re into! Looking forward to next week’s VLOG! 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦

I love your shelves. I want some just like yours. I love the bead board between the shelves. We put this same bead board on the ceiling in our kitchen and it looks so good. Great video.

Beautiful job. Just one thing, those outlets, please change them to GFI's. It's quite dangerous for them to be so close to water without safety.

I love what you're doing. The home is gorgeous and I love how you're bringing it back to life. Question/suggestion since I've seen you do this twice now... Why not do one large, tall single sheet of bead board rather than cut multiple strips to put between the shelves? I feel like caulk would fill the gaps just fine. My dad also used to paint everything before he installed and then he just had touch ups. Your way works it just seems harder.

Thank you so much! I just did that with my shelves in the living room and it was so much easier! For the kitchen I wasn’t sure if I wanted two or three shelves so I cut individually. The pantry was my first time doing it so I did it how I had seen someone else do it! But yes, putting a full board is much simpler!
