I have been meaning to rewire my battery bank for a long time as I realized I could make the wires much shorter.
I have also been meaning to fuse my 1404AH battery bank with HRC fuses. I have used a mid point fuse configuration which actually protects the batteries and not just the wires.

That's a beautiful bank, MM. Good job. I can relate to your fiddling for perfection too. Although I'm happy with my bank, I've rebuilt the cooling system for my electronics 3-odd times already and have another revision coming up. This is how we learn.

yeah looks a lot better!! It took some time and a couple of goes but am really happy with it now. thanks again and keep the videos coming! I really enjoy your channel. I think for us solar people the next best thing to building solar is watching others build solar lol ;) Have a great day too and thanks for your comments and support!

excellence Job, I wonder sometimes my battery banks 48v, 12v cells shows one battery completely dead and destroyed from inside

thanks mate! yes its looking 100% better. I topped up the water the other day and was a lot easier too, without all that mess of cables all over the place.

Looks great. Going to do mine this way. Noticed my middle bank has a lower sg.

how many strings do you have in parallel?

Mandala man same set up as your.3 strings of 4-6v 232 ah ea

so do you have three cables coming off to one terminal or are they paralleled and then you are coming off the whole bank with just one cable from pos/neg? if its the second one i think you would definitely see more even charging if you used a busbar as the current can go directly to the battery without going through the other. Im no expert though...

Mandala man one cable from neg/pos. everything is pulled off pos and neg terminals. I will try and do a video

I guess I'm wondering if I just add parallel connections through out the bank. So each battery in the bank pos and neg are parallel as well and keep 2 terminals for the loads as I do now.i think you called it matrix cabling. The fuse lines you added. I thinking maybe just add those but with my weld wire.

Thanks for sharing this information and your build. I am however wondering about the matrix wiring. I see that you have hook all the positive together as well as the negative in yhe battery bank. My question is do those wires go to anything like a balancing device or just used to tie all the positive and negative posts together to distribute the charge evenly?

hello Mr. Mandala, can you show the final mid point fusing wiring of your battery bank? And did the 10 AMP fuses suffice? Thanks.

How many amps does each of your batteries have?

@mandalaman question those red small cables are they creating a parallel fig? If so, i thought the cables needed to be bigger to widthstand the amp/current..

Hello, excellent vídeo but i have a question. What kind of fuses do you use?
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
hi, sorry for late reply. I have those big HRC fuses in the middle of each bank, then small 10amp automotive fuses on the small cables and I have a 300 amp megafuse on the positive cable coming from the inverter.

Hello, I would like to fuse my battery bank the same way with HRC fuses. Is it better with higher pre-arc and clearing voltages or should the values be lower. I don't know what it means so also how to calculate 😅 .. My system will be much smaller.. 3 banks to each 90ah 24volts.. so I thought about 45a each hrc fuse. Maybe I will buy et or fe variants of this fuses. Could you please give me any tips?

Have you seen a difference in charging. Is the sg even through out ??
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
no, the chargeing has always been pretty even. the wires are thick enough that it probably didnt make much difference that they were longer. just a lot safer and tidier this way.

Do you think if I keep my bank wired the way it is now as 1 large bank (no bus bar) and add extra parallel connections it would even it out. I have everything hooked to 1 pos and 1 neg
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
the parallel connections will help somewhati think) as they allow some current to jump high resistence batteries as far as I understand. I looked at your channel and cant see any videos. why dont you do a quick one and upload it.

what's the small red wires?
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
its called battery matrixing or laddering. Its to get a more even charge when you are running parallel strings. basically all of the positive and negatives are paralleled between banks so that some current can jump high resistance batteries.

i see a lead acid battery balancer on ebay.i got one for the two batteries.but they have them for 3 and 4 series too.
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
im not sure how they work or if they work, this balances your batteries without the need for another device. so far my batteries have charged very equal. I have not seen much different in the SG of the batteries.

i got the 2 x 12 one it 3 wires +,-,and the one that goes between the to bat. i see blinking lights.must be working? lol. i only tested on 2 small 7.5 ah bat. but it was working. i used on older and one newer and it was actually working.and on discharge too. benefits? it does have low cut off which could prevent one from going below 10.5 ,and a light to monitor voltage .i 'm also looking at your way. can you leave a link to your setup? hate to be dependent on this little box of unknown eBay gadgetry.
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
sorry, I dont have a link to a chart like that, just looked on google and couldnt find one either. Its just a normal series/parallel with all of the ++ - - connected on each battery. so the same as the battery balancer you bought but just with cables and without the box.

You really have no clue, what you are going to get hurt, playing with electricity will hurt you, green wire, looks pretty but you should follow proper color codes
@mick.Walker
@mick.Walker 6 жыл бұрын
Edgar Acosta I think you will find the ends of each wire are correctly colour coded.
@Mandalaman
@Mandalaman 6 жыл бұрын
the wire is green because that is the colour that that thickness of wire comes in here in Europe. They dont do black and red. Maybe they could employ you to tell the EU how to do things properly. Have you offered up your services? Someone with extensive knowledge such as yourself and such useful contributions such as "you really have no clue" is bound to be well sought after. Im doing fine by the way and so is my system but thank you for caring about my safety and your useful coment...
