My dad had an interesting problem back when I was a kid. Our ranch shared a fence with another and our side of the fence was easier to drive. The problem is, we had just planted hay fields and any driving would cause big ruts and damage the field and hay. The fence came down to the county road and on one side was a gate that went in our property and on the other side was a gate that went onto their property. The ranch hands for the neighboring ranch were lazy and decided to drive our field instead of theirs. My dad called up the ranch and asked them to keep out of our property. It is posted. A couple weeks later, they do it again. This time my dad calls them and tells them to make sure it never happens again. He then pulled out an old sickle from a mower and welded a couple steel rods to the underside edge. About 50 feed into our property he dug a small trench and then pounded the sickle down into the trench with a hammer and covered it with debris. A couple weeks later there was a jeep with four flat tires sitting in our hay field. Never had a problem again.

Just an idea that I have put in use at my home - I painted the inside of my fence white, then painted every tree, the side facing directly at the house, up to about 6 feet white as well. The wife thought I was losing my mind, but when we actually had someone try to sneak up on our house I made sure she noticed that even though he was hiding behind a tree every time he leaned out his silhouette stood out against the white background. He didn't see the white because from the road the trees weren't painted so he thought he was hidden. Try it, it works like a charm, unless you are in a neighborhood with home owners association rules or care about resale value lol.

The garden hose may not arise too much suspicion laying under leaves, however if you have some old scraps of black "Soaker" hose it will blend in FAR more effectively. Broken glass and metal fragments can be set into thin concrete or plaster "pavers" poured in pie tins or foil baking pans so that the shards do not sink into the ground, have more penetritive strength, and can also be moved if necessary.
@mremington8

I use a combination of cactus, rose bush, and locust. It gives you options on different elevations of plants. Natural barriers, that you can use to move people/animals where you want them. I use these along with dogs. The dogs will stay out of the cactus, and can get under the roses and locust trees. If the dogs get someone running in the dark on my place it is going to be a bad night for them.

Thorny blackberries work great to. Put them on trellises along the fence or let them grow into a big bush. If someone jumps the fence, they'll land right into them and get all tangled up. In a panic they'll try to get out of the bush fast. when they pull their arms and legs out they'll get shredded.

Carpet tackstrip worked great for me. The block wall on west side was built up because someone dumped the cement in a pile. That was an easy up for anyone jumping over the wall. On the other side my elevation was low and I couldn't look over the wall. I took carpet tackstrip and construction glue and glued all the way down the wall 30 ' and 4' down the wall, so when they get on the cement pile they grab the tackstrip. Worked like a charm 😄

"Area Denial Devices" is one way of doing it. Another would be the opposite: "Area Acceptance Devices". Guide intruders into the exact location YOU want them to be in. Once YOU have them where YOU want, well you can then deal with them as you wish. You need to think about 1 intruder, 2, 10 or a HORDE! And have plans for each. Before SHTF about all that's "legal" is "No Trespassing" Signs. Cameras are ALWAYS a good item. Also loud alarms. I like the sign that says: "IF YOU CAN READS THIS - YOU'RE IN RANGE" After SHTF - whatever you have available.

Cactus plants in your windows. It's cheap. And if someone smashed the window to climb in. Their not gonna have a good day. Also placing cactus around your house is good to. This way you cant get in legal trouble. But mostly. You don't look like your trying to protect yourself. When I see a house with bars on their house. That makes me think they got something worth protecting. And of course. A weapon your effective with. I like hammers.

In Germany and Austria, we used to plant hawthorn or blackberries as deterrents. Their advantage is that you can eat the fruits and if you plant them all around your property, they keep birds away from pecking your other fruits (easier to go for the bulk at the perimeter than risk going in for less)

Blackberry bushes are great idea in places where cactus does not grow. Common way to prune the bushes minimizes the thick thorny parts to make leafy/flowering part more accessible for the berries, but they can be pruned differently if detterrence is desired.

Cactus is good but "Spanish bayonet" is better. I put it around my daughters bedroom window. It grows fast and you can chop it up and with lots of water for a while it will sprout and grow. It will poke thru anything but tank armor. When you get stuck by it , it will hurt like a nail gun. And for days will hurt very much and be very sore. And you are safe from any law suit because is "Landscaping"!!!

First and foremost, know your enemy. Most threats come from within. The garden hose is great but if you have dogs, then they can't be in that area of denial. Lights are great for area defense because nobody can hide in the light, so motion detectors, if even for a bell when someone steps onto the property, would allow one to watch zones according to ringtones. Indiscriminate wounding/ maiming/ killing devices are just that and you could accidentally find yourself with a 3 inch nail through your foot, knee or neck. Keep magazines full and stay aware and alert. A smoke detector only works if you're sober and able to wake up, get up and be aware of the situation quickly. Great vid, love your channel.

I'm very glad I found this because I'm having trouble with my neighbors and others turning in my driveway and leaving mud trails from tires is frustrating that they come onto my property and don't respect so this is my last option and I'm happy to use this. but remember in some states there are different rules and where I'm from you have to put a sign up letting them know warning ⚠️ so hopefully this will work because I'm so tired of people being disrespectful no one cares so I have to give them a surprise!!!!!♡ happy birthday!!!

A few more honorable mentions keep in mind to me SHTF means no legal ramifications... 1) Vietnamese Ankle Trap: dig a few small holes on aproach behind trees (not illegal by they're own right) extra credit: take 2 small boards drive nails through, attach boards 6-8 inches apart with leather/pelt/hide/rope. Lay across the hole. They step on hidden vertical nails hidden by foliage = ouch or they step in the hole and lacerate the whole ankle. 1 man slowed = all slowed. Extra extra credit rub raw animal blood or feces on the nails to inflict sepsis. 2) Moats and Fire Corridors: Pretty self explanatory dig moats to prevent spread of fire to parts you don't want on fire. Namely anything not part of the trap. No sense defending a pile of ash in an ash forest. Next grow very flammable plants set fire to deny very large areas and seperate and confuse 3) The Mace Tripwire that release heavy spiked weight. Rotting limbs work very well though small heavy rocks with wood spikes tied off are effective as well. 4) World Famous Pungee Sticks The spike pit... need I say more extra credit: rub sticks with blood (to attract predatory animals for food) or feces (inflict sepsis) but never both as you don't want to taint the meat (for the animals NEVER EAT HUMAN FLESH)

1/2" plywood cut to needed shape with 3" wood screws put thru it pointed up. As well as some going thru it and into the ground to keep it in place. Paint the screw points as close to ground color as possible and cover plywood with dirt , leaves , pine needles or whatever the natural ground cover was for that area. Devices can be stored in garage rafters until deployment is needed. They also are incredibly effective against vehicle tires when placed and disquised where vehicles are likely to come over during approach .

Great Video. A lot of it is not applicable to the United Kingdom where I live, due to our differing laws and legal stances ( sadly ) on weapons and construction of devices and furniture that could cause/intend harm ( No glass cemented onto the top of Brick walls for example ) but other parts are good advice that can be applied to deter criminals as well ( main threat at this time in the UK ) Deter Criminals Have Curtains, Drapes/nets or shutters fitted to your windows and use them.....so easy to scout out a houses contents through a clear window especially if house lights are on at night. Tall hedges, plants and fences between your house and public roads/pavements ( sidewalks ) that block line of sight to your house and the public are a godsend to criminals who can use them as cover to attempt entry without fear of a passer-by seeing them. Strong and sturdy fences are actually preferred by burglars as they are easier to climb, a weaker fence with a " trellis " on top with spiky plants such as roses is harder to climb and will often collapse under a persons weight...burglars detest these because of the thorns and the noise. CCTV is essentially useless if its not a live feed and alert system. Most criminals are not deterred by it and you will simply have a recording of someone breaking into your house with faces covered as a sad memento that the police cannot use due to difficulty of identification. The CCTV that rings you up and says you have visitors is very effective. Light and Noise are not a burglars friend. Security lights fitted high up ( out of tamper reach, out of bin liner thrown over light reach ) covering the back of the house or blind spots. Gravel/shingle pathways and drive ways and rusty/squeaky gates are effective. Burglars hate dogs. All Dogs. Of any size and type.......Even a sign up " Beware of Dog " a few dog toys strewn about can be a deterrent. Good quality Burglar alarm. Not all the bad guys are stupid and they do know what dummy alarms look like. Just a few tips.

Funny how I learned this from a game called Block'n load. When our enemies ninja us they use our pillbox and barricades for their cover to sneak in and flank us, so we started putting caltrops on the other side of the barricade if we cant afford to use radars. This, however, translated to real life by different means.... I mean, we didn't plant them there, but we have a minefield of fire ant nests around on our provincial house. Invisible, volatile, no upkeep, effective. They even change locations every year.

The only people who would be hurt by such implements at such a time are the ones who should be.
